Allison's POV

My stomach was growling, while my mother was cooking breakfast. The smell of bacon was drifting through my nostrils. "Do you have socks on your feet?" asked my mother. "You ain't gonna be going to school barefoot."

"Yeah, I have socks on," I replied. "Hurry up with that breakfast. Whatever I have leftover, I am feeding it to Cletus."

"He eats enough as it is!" snapped my mother. "Now shut your yap, and eat!"

I ate my breakfast, which consisted of bacon and scrambled eggs, and a glass of orange juice. "Go to the market, and get some pancake mix, Ma!"

"I said, shut your yap! No talking, while you're eating, missy!"

"Yes, Ma'am," I sighed. "I finished my breakfast, and went to my room, so I could put my shoes on. We don't have an upstairs, since we live in a mobile home.

I put on my red Keds, and tied my shoelaces, and got my backpack. My mother gave me my lunch money, pecked a kiss on my cheek, and I left to go outside to wait for the bus.

I stepped out of my white mobile home with navy blue tinted windows. There was my mother's green 1975 Lincoln Continental coupe in the dirt driveway, with a Kentucky license plate on it. My old lady really had a thing for old cars. It originally belonged to my pa, but ever since he died, it became hers.

Patchy clouds began to develop in the clear, blue sky, as I saw the bus coming in the distance. The bus came to a complete stop, and I got on, and sat down to a red headed girl, wearing glasses, and was listening to some music on her phone. Since she was so immersed in her musical world, I didn't want to disturb her.

The bus left my house, and was on the way to pick up some more people, as the bus driver drove through some dirt roads.

We eventually made it to school. What fun.
