Chapter 8 - Here with the rain...
I woke up in my bed. Sitorro sat over me. "Uhh... hey..." I said, blushing. I didn't expect her to watch over me after she knocked me out. "Hmph!" She looked away. She was trying to act mad, but was failing miserably. I smiled a toothy grin, and Sitorro started laughing hysterically. "Sorry, I shouldn't have done that. I can get a bit violent sometimes." She said, I could feel through the brain link that she felt bad about it. I chuckled again. "You're right, you shouldn't have. But, what's done is done. Don't worry about it." I smiled, trying to sit up, but was immediately reprimanded and forced to lay back down. "Sitorro, if I can't get up, will you leave the weapons here and go to the grocery store for me? I'll tell you what I need once you get there..." She giggled, smiling. "Are you sure? I might get caught by some cop again." I put my hand to my forehead. "You know what to do then." She nodded, removing her weapons and practically throwing them at me. "Fine... I'll go..." Switching to the brain link, I asked her to repair the window she broke yesterday, which, she informed me, had already been done. Walking out the door, she hid her unnatural features, and started off to the grocery store.
It was a few hours before I heard from her again. She had asked if the city was this busy everyday, to which I begrudgingly replied: yes. It was fairly annoying, I told her that even to get to the store I had asked her to go to, it took around an hour or more! A few minutes later, a knock on the front door of the apartment announced her return, and she walked in, exhausted physically and emotionally. Her mana depleted, she released her spell as soon as she walked in. "That's a lot of work..." she said, flopping down on the couch to the left side of my computer desk. I laughed. But, this hurt as I was still in pain from her punch. She had eventually come back into my room, sitting down on my bed. "How often do you do that?" She asked. "About once every week. I go through food quickly." I replied. It was normal for me, but I didn't like doing it. She looked at me with bewilderment. I winced in pain. "And by the way, a little bit after you left, I realized you had used healing magic on me, what was so bad that I needed that?" She looked surprised yet again. "You're way too attuned to this... I haven't done one thing yet you haven't known, and I've even been trying to hide some of it. You had a concussion, and I healed it so you didn't have to go to the hospital." This surprised me. "A concussion? Why'd you punch me that hard? It's pretty bad when someone gives you a concussion in this world. No wonder you scolded me to lay back down." She apologized. My phone beeped at me, and I shifted trying to fetch it. Sitorro grabbed it and handed it to me. I had a text from Jade. "Hey Hunter, I missed the last train back to my apartment and I'm in your area, would you mind if I stayed the night?" Crap, I thought. Sitorro was staying with me, but I had let Jade stay before and liked her company. So, I decided to let her over anyway so I wouldn't be suspicious. I'd have to hide the weapons and make Sitorro change though. "If you don't mind the second spare bedroom, I have someone staying in the first." I replied. I shut my phone off. "Hey, Sitorro. We're going to have someone over for the night. They're my mentor, so I trust them, but I think you should put your spell on again. I know you're tired, but that doesn't mean you're out of mana." She wasn't surprised I let them stay. "Well, but the more tired I get, the less effective the spell is. I should be able to make it work though." It made sense. "Alright, what about your weapons and clothing, even without your ears and tail, those are a dead giveaway. At least in public, people assume you're a cosplayer." The door opened. It was Jade, I forgot I gave her a key.
"Too late now," I said via brain link. "Jade, I have someone I'd like you to meet," I said aloud. I got up, my head still hurt like crap, but it was bearable. "Ooohh! Is it a girl?" She asked, sarcastically. "Yes," I said. She wasn't wrong, but me having a relationship with Sitorro wouldn't work out just for the fact she's a Demi-human. "So that's what you think, huh?" Sitorro's voice said in my brain. "Yes, there would be too many complications." I responded. "You wouldn't mind it otherwise?" I asked. I was surprised. Surely she didn't have any attraction to me. "You're a cool guy, even with how pessimistic and dumb you are." I walked out of the room, motioning Sitorro to stay there. I gave Jade a hug, it was a friend-zoned relationship, but she was the best friend I had. There were others I felt I could get on that level of relationship with, but no one would or could ever replace Jade.
I picked up the notebook I had drawn Sitorro in. "I'd like you to meet 'her' I said, showing her the picture." She looked at me. "I get it, that's a drawing to be proud of, but you don't ne- WHAT?" Sitorro had teleported beside me, smiling. "Hi!" Sitorro said, happily. Jade laughed for a while, while I stood there, making the conversation awkward, "Uhh... why is no one laughing? O... K...? I guess this isn't a joke then? This is the Sitorro... herself?" Jade seemed to be a little sceptical, well, more than that. The supernatural wasn't a thing for our world, it just wasn't possible, unless it was in the biblical periods. Why wouldn't she be utterly sceptical? Sitorro giggled. "Would you like proof?" she said, still smiling. "Proof? Go for it. I won't believe you if it's not convincing enough." Jade looked smug, almost like she didn't believe either of us. "You don't have to worry about that." Sitorro said, laughing. She snatched Jade's hand. "Hey! What are you doing!?" Jade said, trying to pull away, but she stopped, and I knew that Sitorro had linked. "Well, it's nice to meet you I guess." Jade said, reluctant. Then, for some reason, and not because of Sitorro, Jade lightened up. "Looks like miracles really do happen!" She smiled, giving me a thumbs up, and skipped off to the second spare bedroom. "All too often." I remarked in my mind. I felt drowsy, and I fell asleep, falling on the floor.
