Interview 56
Where are you from?
U.S.A
How old are you?
18
What and who inspired you into reading and/or writing?
I've been reading since I was two! I've always loved it.
What was the first book that you read that started your love for reading?
I don't remember, but when I was really little I read Junie B. Jones. The first series that really captivated me was Harry Potter.
What was the turning point in your life that you decided to take your writing seriously?
When I went to college, I decided to pursue a professional writing career.
What is the inspiration for your stories?
Events and people from my life.
Do you outline your stories or write whatever comes to mind?
The most important parts of my story usually come to me at the most random times, and I just write that down. Then I fill in the blanks to make it a story.
What is your method of beginning to writing a book?
I have an idea, and I try it out by just writing a chapter or even a sentence.
Do you ever get attached to the characters in your story? If so, what part of their personality or quirks do you find relatable?
I love all the characters I write. I think I can relate to them because all of them are a facet of myself.
Do you base your characters on people in your personal life, imagination, or both?
Both!
What is the best part of writing a story?
The best part would definitely be creating new worlds and people.
How do you deal with writer's block?
It sounds counterintuitive, but I force myself to keep writing. It's the best way to get over it.
Would you want to see your story or stories be adapted? If so, who would you want to play your characters?
Yes, in the future I would love to see my novels and series adapted. I don't have any actor/actress preferences, I would only want them to be ethnically accurate.
What kind of advice would you give to an aspiring writer?
"You don't need to make a masterpiece every day. Some days, you just need to paint."
Are you working on a new story?
Yup. I have a few in the works!
