Interview 46
Where are you from?
Florida, USA
How old are you?
15
What and who inspired you into reading and/or writing?
What inspired me to write was famous authors/poets such as Edgar Allen Poe and Stephen King. They sparked my love for storytelling and influenced me to write my own stories.
What was the first book that you read that started your love for reading?
The first book I read that sparked my life for reading was a book of love poems that I read in 6th grade. I loved them so much that I started writing my own love poems.
What was the turning point in your life that you decided to take your writing seriously?
The turning point for me was when I first started with my book, The Moon To My Tide, in 7th grade when all of my friends complimented my writing and asked me to write more.
What is the inspiration for your stories?
The inspiration is just any love story, but just add homosexual male leads and plot points that catch the reader's attention.
Do you outline your stories or write whatever comes to mind?
It depends on if I've already written a rough draft of a past story or just writing one that pops into my head. The Moon To My Tide, for example, was outlined in its early drafts while The King Of The Forest was straight outta mind.
What is your method of beginning to writing a book?
I normally start with dialogue from either the main character or someone close to the main character.
Do you ever get attached to the characters in your story? If so, what part of their personality or quirks do you find relatable?
All the time! I normally get attached to the fact that none of my characters have a present mother or father. Although I do have a mother and father, I feel like they aren't around as much as they should be.
Do you base your characters on people in your personal life, imagination, or both?
A little bit of both, most of my characters I base off of myself and my friends. But I do add unique things for each character.
What is the best part of writing a story?
The best part of writing a story is seeing the reader's reaction, whether it's bad or good.
How do you deal with writer's block?
I listen to music and return to the old writing I did when I was younger. I guess it just helps me see how much I've written when I was younger pushes me to write more.
Would you want to see your story or stories be adapted? If so, who would you want to play your characters?
It would be an honor to see my stories adapted! I wouldn't care who played the characters, as long as they do my story justice!
What kind of advice would you give to an aspiring writer?
Never give up on your dream. Your story may not hit it off right away, but that doesn't mean that your story is bad. It just means that no one has sought it out yet, but in time someone should love its plotline and characters as much as you do.
Are you working on a new story?
Why, yes I am. It should be out a little while after The Moon To My Tide!
