Interview 19

Where are you from?

Nigeria.

How old are you?

17

What and who inspired you into reading and/or writing?

Reading: My mom, Writing: All me(not to sound narcissistic.)

What was the first book that you read that started your love for reading?

The Rescuer.

What was the turning point in your life that you decided to take your writing seriously?

Didn't get into my dream school which took a toll on me but hey, something bad has to happen for you to see clearly.

What is the inspiration for your stories?

The things around me. The overwhelming feelings I have at times. Regardless of the genre.

Do you outline your stories or write whatever comes to mind?

Uh, both. It comes naturally sometimes and sometimes it doesn't.

What is your method of beginning to writing a book?

I start with the cover. I'm an artist so if the cover ain't right, I can't start. It bugs me when I write a novel yet the cover seems a bit off.

Do you ever get attached to the characters in your story? If so, what part of their personality or quirks do you find relatable?

Yes, Uhm the fact that they can go through all that and still manage to worry about others. It's deep and I can't get enough.

Do you base your characters on people in your personal life, imagination, or both?

Definitely both.

What is the best part of writing a story?

I get to live in different lifetimes, it's like a journey, it ain't pretty but it's so worth it.

How do you deal with writer's block?

I don't usually get those sometimes but when I do have them, I listen to music or sit back and relax with a movie on. Or even go for a walk(I don't but still.)

Would you want to see your story or stories be adapted? If so, who would you want to play your characters?

Yes, I would love to play the MC of my ongoing novel. she's so strong and confident. Even when she sometimes doesn't have to be. But if I were a boy, hands down I'd most definitely play Tyson. Not meant to pick favorites but just did. Hehe.

What kind of advice would you give to an aspiring writer?

Just write it. Write what you'd want to read. Trust me I made a big mistake once by writing about this book I read before and it was stressful. Not full of life and utterly ridiculous. So just write for the fun of it.

Are you working on a new story?

Yup. Always.
