Bella's pov:

After Ryuku and I's unusual conversation and strange......Uh, arrangement, I felt emotionally and physically exhausted. And I couldn't possibly understand what other reason Ryuku had to hate me. Instead of relief that he didn't want to dislike me, I felt more stressed.

"Bloody hell!" I yelled. I used my powers to destroy some stuff, easing the anger I randomly felt.

Mom ran up into my room, looking scared, and then frowned when she saw my room.

"Bella he said he was going to explain this to you, so please tell me he didn't do this." Mom said, her tone begging.

"Nope, that was me. Is dad looking for the guy that cursed him?" I asked.

"Wow, you're reaching new levels of evading talking about things you don't wanna talk about. How are you handling this, really?" Mom asked.

And here I thought a mother's intuition was fake. I'm going to be honest with you, I've always been a lot different to Evie and even to an extent my other siblings. While Evie is eager to tell my parents anything she's thinking or feeling, since Ryuku started hating me I've had to hide things from my parents. So over time, I started going from hiding the Ryuku and me situation from them to hiding anything I didn't want to discuss or even think about for myself. In some cases, I even hid things from Evie. It's just how I adapted to life.

For instance, I never told anyone that one time Ryuku abandoned me unintentionally in a very unsafe spot between the borders of Aquaria and Lemuria and some sick fuck tried to rape me. Good thing I have my powers huh? I swear I was going to say something. But it was something I couldn't even come to terms with for myself.

You see how the mind adjusts to new circumstances? This was my way, hiding. And so when Mom asked how I was really handling things, I couldn't answer. Or I could, but every fibre of my being was telling me to lie or hide how I was actually feeling.

"I'm good mom. Really, it's kind of a relief." I smiled.

She smiled back, but it was forced. She didn't believe me. "Please Bella. You can talk to me."

"I don't know Mom. I..... I don't know how to react. He goes from hating me for no reason to hating me for a reason, two actually but he didn't say what the second one was. And I'm really not sure what to do now. It's easy to reciprocate anothers hatred when you don't think it's for a reason! But when there is a reason, it makes it harder, almost like you're guilty." I answered.

"Honey, I'm sorry you're struggling a little bit. But what do you mean two reason?" Mom asked.

"He said there's a reason not related to the curse." I replied. I felt Evie suddenly start nudging my mind, obviously wanting my attention.

"That's odd." Mom said giving me a tight squeeze.

" In a way. I'm sorry I never told you about this." I apologized.

"It's okay honey, I understand. I just wonder what other stuff you haven't been able to tell us. You know you can come speak with us no matter what." Mom smiled.

I nodded, and she got up to leave. "Dinner is ready by the way. Come down soonish ok?"

"Will do. Love you Mom." I saluted.

She giggled and waltzed away, while I responded to Evie.

"Hey sis. Wassup?" I asked.

"Not much. How'd your little chat with Ryuku go?" She replied.

"You were listening, not sure why you're asking." I said, reaslising she had been in my head the entire time we were talking.

"Ok geez you got me. How are you?" She asked.

"I'm ok. Hey you knew about this right?" I suddenly remembered.

"Yeah for a few months. We made him tell us." Evie replied. Oof, when you can hear the smirk in someone's voice.

"Okay, so do you know another reason he might hate me? He said there was two." I whispered.

"He never told me, but maybe Eldoris knows." Evie answered.

I hummed softly and nodded. "I'll ask him later. Enjoy your date sis."

She thanked me and left, whilst I headed down to the library. I needed to clear my head. I grabbed my favourite book and climbed through the window up onto the roof, admiring the stars that were magnified by the water. Coming up here had only been recent, and I did so whenever I could. Ballnu and Shamu didn't know about it, I'd enchanted a ladder through the ceiling only I could see. So it was my personal space, away from everyone.

Eventually, after pulling out the blanket I had hidden for such a situation, I curled into a ball and went to sleep.

{Flashback time! Just as a warning, if you want to skip this you should know it explains what happened to Bella, and it is important for later. But if the subject bothers you, skip to where Fontaine's pov starts, cool? Otherwise, enjoy}

2 years ago, Bella is 16.

"Bella hurry up, for once I agree with your sister, it's not safe to just let you go by yourself." Ryuku said to me.

I adjusted my crown and glanced at my appearance in the mirror. I had been begging to go see the festival that happened between the borders of Lemuria an Aquaria, but remained on our side for weeks. After I'd received a letter from a little boy who was sick and wanted me to join him. My parents were cautious but eventually Evie helped me convince them.

But they made Ryuku go. Something about him having my best interests and being general of one of the strongest guards group in the kingdom. I knew they were right about my safety, and no matter what happened his duty to the crown came before his hate of me. So I knew I'd be safe, ish.

After finally liking the way I looked, I walked out of the room and Ryuku smiled a bit.

"Finally! You took that long to look like this?" He smirked.

"Shut up. Come on, the festival starts soon." I said, dragging him along.

We boarded the carriage and continued our usual argumentative banter, until we finally arrived about an hour later at the place. Ryuku had guards around the area, an I met the little boy who'd asked me to come.

"Hi there! I'm Jamie." He smiled, offering his hand for me to shake.

Instead I gave him a big hug and smiled back. "And I'm Princess Bella, but just call me Bel ok?" I grinned. His face lit up and he nodded eagerly, then pointed to his parents.

They thanked me for coming, and explained that he probably would pass away in around a years time because his heart was infected by dark magic.

I couldn't bear the thought of that happening. I told Ryuku to go get himself and me a drink, and then pulled Jamie back to my level.

I passed him a crown I had just made and slipped it on his head. "Here you go little man, this is for you. It'll protect you from the dark magic as long as you wear it. Promise me you will?" I asked offering him my pinky.

"I promise! Thank you so much Bel!" He grinned hugging me.

"That is my pleasure. If you get sick of wearing it, you send me a letter ok? I'll transfer the spell to a necklace or a pin." I smiled.

He nodded and dragged me off to dance. We played around all night, I met his friends, and his grandparents. This little community was so happy even though they were at the very edge of the kingdom.

For a moment, I lost sight of Jamie and Ryuku, making me panic. I couldn't see my way back to where I was, and so I felt unsafe.

Suddenly a hand grabbed me from behind, slipping a cloth over my nose. I knew the smell, they were using chloroform, trying to knock me out. It seemed they probably weren't assassin's or whatnot.

I felt my eyes start to fade shut, and when I came to again a creepy old man was holding me down with a knife cutting through my clothes.

"Don't scream little Princess, or I'll stab you and have a little fun with your corpse." The guy cackled. His breath smelt awful. And the chloroform had made me weak. I couldn't snap out on the ropes or use my powers yet, not until I was completely conscious.

I tried to push him off me though as he cut though the last of the clothes I had, leaving me in only my underwear, and started to scream. He stated kissing my neck and I shivered.

"Help! Let me go you sick old man!" I yelled.

"Now now Princess, let's not forget I have the knife." He smirked trailing it down my abdomen.

He started to kiss my cheek, and finally I could feel my powers again. I lost control and sent a piece of crystal ice straight through his heart.

I shuddered at the sight of the old man,and shivered when I realised he'd left a huge hickey on my neck line. I then opened a portal and pulled out some new clothes from my room, put my crown on, and ran away from the alley.

I smashed straight into Ryuku when I came out from the alley, so he'd obviously been looking for me. He glanced down the alley and spotted the old man an my messy hair.

For the first time in years he let me hug him. He never asked what happened, no one ever issued a murder warrant so he must've been from Aquaria. But that didn't mean I didn't have nightmares. Infact for the next 6 months I had nightly nightmares, in which I relieved the events without me being able to stop him.

I'm not sure if Ryuku ever told anyone, I'm not sure if he even cared. But I appreciated the comfort he gave, even if it was small.

I still kept in touch with Jamie. The once sick and 5 year old boy is now 7 and doing much better, but I could never shake that memory from my mind. That's why I told Maddy it was a meet and greet. That's why I never told my family when I went to see Jamie.

The next morning, Fontaine's pov:

I woke up early today and decided to help get ready for breakfast before Kai and the twins had to go to school. Instead, I came face to face with Bella's guards, (minus Bella) Evie with a worried expression and Eldoris and Ryuku looking fit to kill.

"Uh, good morning to you too. What's the matter?" I asked.

"It's Bella! She wasn't in our room when I went there this morning, and Ballnu and Shamu said they escorted her back and guarded outside." Evie said.

Since Ryuku was general of the elite group of crown guards, his face was automatically in damage control mode. He looked at me, almost asking what I wanted done, and i panicked. If even Evie couldn't find her something was wrong, right?

"Okay, Ryuku I want your team hunting every inch of this castle for her, and around 300 guards searching the perimeter. Now!" I ordered.

He nodded and started barking commands at his soldiers before bolting off and coming back a minute later wearing his armour and carrying a sword.

"I can't connect with her because she's asleep Mom." Evie said.

"Asleep? Oh, okay then." I said somewhat relieved.

Evie nodded and her eyes glowed, then stopped again. "Yeah, she's probably just asleep."

I got the feeling she was withholding other reasons why she might not have been able to reach her sister, but I left that alone and continued ordering guards around.

God I hope she is ok.

Ryuku's pov:

When I got up this morning, I felt a kind of unusual panic in my chest. Wen I opened my door I startled Evie, Eldoris and Bella's personal guards. That scared me too. They are supposed to stay with Bella no matter what, even at school they watch her. So why isn't she here now?

"Where is she? I hope she's ok!" Arlo said to me.

"She's probably fine." I replied.

"Bella isn't in her room, we can't find her." Evie said.

"Okay, calm down. What about your mind link?" I asked.

"I can't reach her! She's either asleep, or........."

"Or what?" I growled.

"Or someone is blocking her powers." Evie whispered.

Now my heart rate was through the roof. This is why it sucks having half of you really love and really hate a person. I was really worried about her, and took off with the little group to find her.

After The Queen told us what to do, I had my guards scouring every inch of the castle.

All I could think was maybe she'd been kidnapped, and that thought hurt me even more than I could possibly explain.

"Sir We've looked everywhere for the Princess! We don't know where she is!" My second in command told me, with a salute.

I growled and grabbed him by the collar. "You keep looking until you find a clue as to where the hell she went. I will not loose my girlfriend." I spat.

He nodded and ran off, whilst I kept looking in her room. What if what happened that time near the border at that party happened again? I hope she's safe, because I saw her last. Anything could've happened and I wouldn't be able to protect her.

Bella's pov:

I woke up today and spotted hundreds of guards surrounding the perimeter of the castle. I could see everything from up here, and I suddenly realised they were probably looking for me. I'd fallen asleep up here right? Crud, Mom's gonna kill me. Well not if I don't tell her.

After adjusting my messy appearance, I climbed back through the opening I had in the roof and down the ladder. I walked carefully out of the library, spotting my Mom shouting orders, my Dad also shouting and panicking, my siblings looking scared, and Ryuku sending my parents to go look after my other siblings while he looked for me.

Ha, he's probably going to tell them all to stop. I stealthily wandered behind him until a guard ran up and saluted.

"Sir We've looked everywhere for the Princess! We don't know where she is!"

To my surprise, Ryuku grabbed him by the collar and glared at him. "You keep looking until you find a clue as to where the hell she went. I will not loose my girlfriend."

Woah, hold up. One I'm not your girlfriend mate. Second, why are you so angry?

When the guard ran off I popped out of my hiding place as my family walked back in to see Ryuku.

"Easy there broody boy. Someone might think you actually care about me." I smirked, folding my arms.

He jumped in suprise and my mother attacked me with a hug.

"Where were you?!" She barked.

"Oh Uh I fell asleep in the library." I replied.

"Oh, okay. Well I'm glad you're safe." Dad said hugging me. He ordered the guards to stop the search and Evie grinned at Ryuku as my whole family hugged me and told me never to scare them like that again.

Once they were done Mom ushered them out of the room and left me there with Ryuku.

"Seriously I'm shocked you were actually even looking for me." I laughed at him.

He glared at me. "Believe it or not my duty to the crown is before my annoyance with you. Why'd you lie to your Mom?"

"W-what? What do you mean lie to my Mom?" I asked. His question caught me by suprise.

"I mean I personally searched every inch of that library, an you weren't there. I also mean that you fumbled with your words. So you lied." He replied, folding his arms.

"I didn't lie and what the hell would you know? It's not my fault you suck a looking. I always tell the truth." I spat.

"I know plenty of times when you don't tell the truth, Bella. Like, when you were getting dressed last week so you could go see Jamie, what did you say? "I'm going to go see Pearl. I don't really want to bring her here again." You lie all the time." He replied.

"Whether or not I lie, and why I should choose to is not your concern, commoner. I am your superior and I don't think it's your place to question why I you believe I lied." I hissed.

"That may be the case your majesty. But if the lie could cause mental harm to you or someone you love, it's my duty to protect you. For example, you never told anyone what happened that time with that old guy and Jamie, huh?" He asked.

My face paled and I gulped nervously. I didn't expect him to remember that. "What are you talking about?"

"Please Bella. Don't play dumb, I was there afterwards. And I know for a fact that you had nightmares afterwards, ones you told Evie were because that little boy died." Ryuku replied.

He opened his arms and I chose to hug him. "Maybe I didn't. But I don't see your point."

"My point, is lying generally hurts you or the ones you love if they are bad enough. And maybe you can fool your parents and siblings, maybe you can hold onto a secret and never mention it until you decide to, but you can't fool me. So please tell me, where were you really?" Ryuku asked.

I sighed and looked up at him, pulling away from the hug he was giving me. "I was on the roof. When I'm stressed and trying to avoid my family, I'll go up there. Please don't tell anyone?"

He smiled and showed me a little blue rune. "I took that anti magic thing Nereus gave me 5 minutes ago. I won't say anything, promise."

I smiled back. "Thank you Ryuku."

"Holy up, there is one condition. You gotta let me go up with you sometimes." He smirked.

I giggled at his face. Nice Ryuku is much better than jerk Ryuku. "Okay then, deal."

"Okay then, let's go get ready for school." Ryuku smiled at me.

We took off, laughing as we went and then headed of to school. It was really nice having my best friend back.

Finn's pov:

After finally finding Bella, me and Fontaine got the younger kids ready since they were going for a little day trip around Lemuria with my in laws.

"King Finn! We have a problem." One of my men ran in, hurriedly bowing and then offering me letter.

"What is wrong?" I asked.

"It's a threat, to the princess' life." He frowned.

"What do you mean?!" I thundered.

"Apparently, while you were gone and that attack happened, Aquaria killed 3 of our men, or more I'm not certain. But in retaliation we killed some of their men that threatened the royal family. Now thy are saying they are going to send assassin's for Princess Bella's life. For some reason they think she is heir to the throne." The guard answered.

I smashed my fist onto the desk. "Issue a warning message in reply, I knew they'd do something like this eventually. Say that if any attempt on the Princess' life is made or any harm comes to her we will invade and destroy Aquaria."

He nodded an took off, evidently eager to obey my commands. No one threatens my daughter's life and gets away with it. We had warned Aquaria to leave us alone since we had a far larger army this time, but targetting Bella was smart. Weakening an army with something important is a good way of trying to bring us down.

I called some other men in. "Join Princess Bella's guards down at her school. Tell them it's on order from the King and show them this letter. It will explain. Her life is in danger an you will protect her at all costs."

They bowed and took their leave, and I prayed to my lucky stars that this would be enough.

Boom baby! Ok, how was that? Good, ok, awful? Scale of one to ten, hit me! I really hope this chapter is good, still looking for some suggestions on hammerhead. I kinda want him to come back, but as a good guy or bad guy? And what about Alpheus? Sorry if this annoys you. I'm going to delay the next chapter because I am going to do some Finntaine/Anteline Oneshots so be prepared! And I hope you like the song because it's one of my faves.
