Chapter 1: I become a stuttering mess
Percy's Point of View
"I-uhhhh... What we were we talking about again?"I stuttered. I had just become a stuttering mess in under five seconds under the stern gaze of Annabeth Chase.
Annabeth chuckled,"I gave you a compliment Seaweed Brain! You do realize you're supposed to reply, right?"
"You're not making this easy for me, Wise Girl,"I replied, finding a sudden interest in a certain spot of dirt on my blue and white pair of Converse, my cheeks flushed. How did that get there? I swear it took me all my will power to keep it clean!
Annabeth forced me to look in grey eyes that shone with light and playfulness. I stared right back into her beautiful eyes and saw her. I saw Annabeth for Annabeth. Her eyes revealed hidden feelings. Behind all the humor I could see something else. I was the first to break the eye contact.
"I am never, ever going to make things easy for you. Get used to it."
I stared at the school's entrance hiding in the unknown underneath a large pine tree's canopy. Me and Annabeth-oh wait! Forget I said that! Anyways, Annabeth and I liked to call it out "spot" because only she and I knew it about. We meet here all the time underneath it. It always gave me sense of safety whenever I was here with Annabeth. I looked above my head to see the tall tree with it's rich green pine leaves hanging overhead. The tree had become an important part of our lives ever since we first encountered her. Don't ask but we even decided to name the tree. Thalia. It was like a tribute to my cousin as well as Annabeth's best friend. Thalia was driven with an overwhelming desire to save her friends while they had gone camping. In the end she succeeded, but had an arrow to the heart in the process. With our tree, it feels like Thalia is watching and protecting us with her warm embrace.
I turned to look at Annabeth, her soft, golden, curls of hair cascading down her back, looking like a princess. You could say that she was one of those stereotypical blondes, but say that aloud and she will punch you!(I've learned from my mistakes!) Her beautiful grey eyes just ruined the imagery.
"What are you doing over the summer? Today is the last day of school after all,"I stated, looking once more at Annabeth, who seemed lost in thought. I could almost see the gears in her head turning.
"Greece,"Annabeth sighed in elation.
"You mean the ANCIENT GREECE? The one you always talk about in class and everywhere? The one where you drone on and on and on and on and on and on-"
"I have two things to say. The first thing is SHUT UP! The second thing is I do not drone on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on- about GREECE!!!!!"a Annabeth interrupted me mid-ramble.
I gave her a sheepish grin to which she just rolled her eyes at. She moved a stray curl out of her hair, and I had to resist the urge to run my fingers through her hair. What is she doing to me?
"Anyways, What are you going to be doing over summer break?"Annabeth asked, directing the question at me this time.
I happily obliged and said,"My mom and I are planning to go to Montauk this summer. Just the two of us!"
Annabeth mumbled something incomprehensible under her breath.
"What did you say?"I asked curious.
Annabeth stood up and changed her stance as if she was preparing to run,"I said that you are a Mama's boy!"
Then she ran.
"Am not!"
"Are too!"
"Am not"
This series of yelling and shouting that woke napping neighbors for miles continued until Annabeth reached her house. We walked slowly to the porch, trying to savor the time we had left together until we cam back from summer break. Annabeth opened the door to her house and stepped inside. She looked into my eyes and kissed my cheek. I just stood there stunned aGaIn.
Annabeth smiled,"Goodbye Percy."
I smile back,"Goodbye Annabeth. See you next school year."(Shout out to Keefoster0208 for pointing out a mistake! Thank you!)
