Amnesia
"I'm going to ask you again, Ms. Shimizu. How do you feel?" The doctor repeated. "I feel... dizzy... and sore." Miu answered in a quiet voice. "Leave us for a moment." Tsunade requested. The doctor and the nurse left.
"Miu, my name is Tsunade. Can you tell me the last think you remember?" Tsunade asked. "I'm sorry... but who's Miu?" Miu asked. Tsunade gasped at Miu's answer. "Do you remember anything at all?' Tsunade asked. "I... I don't know. I..." Miu trailed off as she blinked her eyes, tired.
Miu's act of jumping off the Hokage Mountain must've caused damage to her brain. Miu turned her head and noticed balloons and stuffed animals.
"Why are all these here?" Miu said in her quiet voice. Tsunade looked at Miu's gifts. "They're gifts for you, Miu." She said. "Me? But I... Wait, who am I?" Miu asked. "Your name is Miu Shimizu. Your friends came by and dropped these off for you when they heard about your accident." Tsunade said.
"I have friends?" Miu asked. "Yes." She answered. "I don't understand. I don't know who you are, who I am, or how I got here." Miu said, politely. Tsunade began to think, trying to figure out a way to bring Miu's memories back.
Some time later, Miu's friends came by to see how she was doing. "Miu-chan, you're awake! That's amazing!" Naruto cheered. Miu just stared at him with a puzzled look on her face. "Kakashi, I need to talk with you and your team for a moment." Tsunade said as she guided them out of the room.
"Miu has amnesia. The fall must've damaged her brain somehow." Tsunade explained. "So, Miu-chan doesn't remember any of us?" Naruto asked. "She doesn't even remember herself." Tsunade said.
Sasuke looked at Miu as she gazed out the window. "How long will she be like this?" Kakashi asked Tsunade.
"I'm not sure. For all I know, it could take days, even weeks until Miu's memories have come back to her. For now, all you can do is wait. I suggest she doesn't go on any missions for a while. Because she doesn't remember who she is, she may not remember the techniques she has." Tsunade said.
'Does that mean she doesn't remember Isuke, or the fact that she can read minds?' Sasuke thought. "Sasuke," He looked at Kakashi when he called his name. "Go easy on Miu, okay? Due to her amnesia, she won't remember who you are right away." Kakashi advised.
"Yeah, I got it." Sasuke confirmed.
The next two days, Miu was kept at the hospital so the nurses could make sure she's okay. After a few more hours, Miu was released. Sasuke waited for her at the lobby. When he saw her, he stood up and walked over to her.
He took Miu's hand, but she quickly slipped her hand out of his grasp. "I don't think I know you." Miu said. "You do. Well, you used to. I'm here to take you home." Sasuke explained. "Home?" Miu repeated. She looked down, unsure.
"Where... is home?" She asked quietly. "I'll take you there." Sasuke said, holding his hand out to her. Miu hesitantly took his hand and Sasuke walked her back to the house. Miu didn't trust Sasuke entirely. But she didn't have anywhere to go, so she had no choice but to follow him.
Once they were at the house, Miu looked around. "Does anything look familiar?" Sasuke asked her. She shook her head. "Don't worry. You'll remember eventually." Sasuke assured her. Miu looked at him before looking towards the couch, noticing Isuke.
"Welcome home, Princess." Isuke greeted. "Did that thing just... talk?" Miu asked as her head tilted to the side. "Princess?" Isuke asked, wondering why she asked that question. "Isuke, she doesn't remember you because she has amnesia." Sasuke informed.
"I see. Goodbye, then." Isuek said, walking over to the window. "Hold on, where are you going?" Sasuke asked. "There's somewhere I must be. I will return when Princess's memories have returned to her." Isuke explained.
"Why do you have to go at all?" Sasuke asked. "Sasuke Uchiha, you must open your eyes. Without Princess's memories, she doesn't know who I am. Therefore, I'm disconnected from her." Isuke said before disappearing.
Miu blinked when she saw him leave. "Did he go somewhere?" Miu asked Sasuke. "Kind of. Come on," Sasuke lead her inside the house, then showed her to his room. He went over to his drawer and took Miu's journal."
"This is yours. Don't you remember?" Sasuke asked. He handed her the book. Miu stared down at the cover before opening it, reading her own handwriting. "I... I wrote this, didn't I?"Miu asked. "Yes." Sasuke confirmed.
Miu read over the journal entries and began to tear up when she read about the abuse and her parents leaving. "I... I've dealt with so much pain in the past. Am I... happy now? Does my abuse end?" Miu asked, wiping her eyes.
Sasuke didn't answer. He didn't know how to answer that. He wasn't sure if her abuse has ended. What he does know is that he'll protect Miu this time.
The next day, Sasuke took Miu to the fields so she could get some fresh air. Miu sat in the flower field as Sasuke sat next to her. Neither of them said a word. It was silent for a while until Miu spoke up.
"Sasuke... What's our relationship?" She asked as her knees were pulled to her chest. "What do you mean?" Sasuke asked. "I mean, why do you stay with me? I don't know you... Yet, you stay with me. So, I ask, what our relationship is." Miu said.
"Well, you're my girlfriend." Sasuke said.
"I mean, what did you like about the other girl? Well, the other me?"
Sasuke glanced at Miu before lying down on his back with his hands behind his head while crossing his legs.
"The girl I met was innocent. She was always shy and barely said a word every now and then. But she was sweet. She always had a kind smile and was sweet to everyone. Even though she was bullied from her classmates, she was able to hold a smile on her face. I didn't know how, but she always found a way to smile through her pain. That's when I fell in love with Miu Shimizu. I loved that about her. I loved how she was able to make me smile, make me laugh. I loved how generous she was to others. I miss that Miu." Sasuke said as he gazed at the clouds.
Miu's eyes softened before looking at the sky. "I hope that girl you fell in love with... returns to you very soon, Sasuke Uchiha." Miu said. A baby blue bird landed itself on her shoulder. She smiled at it before looking back at the clouds.
After a few hours of sitting in the flower field, Sasuke and Miu walked home. But Miu was walking behind as she tried to remember who she was. "Miu," She looked up when Sasuke called her name. "Yes?" She said.
She blushed when Sasuke pressed his lips against hers. Miu's eyes widened, unsure what she should do. Sasuke pulled away and smiled at her. "Thanks for letting me do that." He said, still smiling. Miu could only nod as her face was bright red.
Sasuke chuckled. "Another thing I liked about you was how easily you blush." Sasuke mentioned before walking forward. Miu quickly caught up with him so she wouldn't get lost. She paused and looked towards the Hokage Mountain.
"Sasuke." Miu called to him. "What's wrong?" Sasuke asked. "Can we go to that mountain up there? There's something I want to check." Miu said. Sasuke wasn't too happy about that idea. He was afraid Miu would jump and try to commit suicide.
"I'm not going to commit suicide." Miu said, frowning. Sasuke looked at her with puzzled look. "Wait, did you just read my mind?" Sasuke asked. "No... I don't think so. You said it out loud, didn't you?" Miu asked.
"I didn't. You just read my mind. Quickly! Do you remember anything?! Tell me!" Sasuke said, grabbing her shoulders. "Get away from me!" Miu shoved him away while accidentally hitting him with her Blast Wave.
Sasuke flew back, sliding across the ground. "Well, at least you know how to you use your powers... Sort of." Sasuke grunted before sitting up. "I did that?" Miu asked. "Yep, and that hurt." Sasuke mentioned.
"I'm very sorry." Miu said, bowing her head apologetically. Miu looked up at the Hokage Mountain again. Her eyes were glued to the mountain as she started to see images roll through her head.
She saw herself near the edge of the mountain. She saw herself weakly smirking before she jumped. Miu screamed at her own memory as she bent over and held her head, her eyes wide as they stared at the ground.
"Miu! Miu, what's wrong?" Sasuke said, grabbing her shoulders. Miu began to hyperventilate. "No! No, it can't be true! That's not me! It can't be me!" Miu began to panic as she started pulling out her hair.
"Miu, stop it! Calm down!" Sasuke said as he grabbed both of her wrists. Miu continued to hyperventilate as her eyes went wide while the memory replayed in her mind until she finally passed out.
"Miu!" Sasuke caught her as he held her in his lap. "Miu! Miu, answer me!" Sasuke said, lightly shaking her. He quickly picked her up and took her to the hospital.
After Sasuke got her checked in, he sat by her bedside, gently grasping her hand. "Sasuke," He turned around, spotting Tsunade by the doorway. "Miu's going to be okay. She just had a panic attack." Tsunade said.
Sasuke sighed in relief before looking at Miu. "If you don't mind me asking, but how did this happen?" Tsunade asked. He looked at her. "I think she saw a image of her memory." Sasuke said before looking back at Miu.
"It's best if you let her sleep here for tonight, Sasuke." Tsunade advised. Sasuke gave a nod. He kissed Miu's forehead before leaving the hospital.
Later that night, everything was quiet. Everyone was asleep. Until a certain someone crawled through Miu's hospital window. Kiki stood by her beside before climbing onto Miu. "Ne, Miu onee-chan, Isuke tells me you got amnesia. Is that true?" Kiki asked Miu's sleeping form.
Of course Miu wasn't going to respond. She was asleep. "But with your memories gone, you won't come back for Kiki. Kiki doesn't want you to forget your promise. So, tell Kiki what to do." Kiki said.
She leaned forward and put her ear near Miu's mouth as if Miu was whispering something into her ear, which she wasn't. Kiki was only pretending that Miu was whispering something in her ear. "Right, okay. If that's what you want. Kiki will do it." Kiki said.
Kiki closed her eyes and gently kissed Miu's lips. After a few seconds, she leaned back and smiled. "Sweet dreams, Miu onee-chan. See you when you're older." Kiki said before leaving through the window.
The moment she left, Miu's eyes slowly opened.
