Chapter 3 : My Type Yet Not For 'Forever'

People cry, not because they're weak. It's because they've been strong for too long.

- Pri (@ XX_Flying_Pandas_XX)

This will be around 1900 words!

Dedicated to _starflies_ (for the help! :P)

Third Person's POV

"What? That same guy? Is my Preu finally going to have her 'Forever'?" Anjali teased Prerna, as the latter narrated them, Anjali and Kirti, the whole episode.

"Naah, it's just going to be like those normal 'Whimsicals'!"

"I doubt this time Preu, every time you were finding someone opposite of you, but look you are getting more attracted towards someone who is similar to you, what's this then?" Kirti was confused by Prerna's behavior.

"Even I don't know! What's this weird thing happening with me, but watch your mouth you idiots, don't you dare say 'Love'!"

"Love!" And with this, Anjali received a black heel, but thankfully she dodged it successfully.

Kirti fell from the bed, laughing hysterically, seeing the whole comic scene.

"OMG! The first girl only did a big magic on you, should I cancel the other dates?" Sid teased Anurag.

"Yes, do it," to their surprise, Anurag, himself said these words.

"Oh Sid, we need to inform Moloy uncle, he got his daughter-in-law!!!" Anupam jumped in happiness.

"Aye we are just going to have normal 'Whimsical', not 'Forever'!" Anurag burst their bubble.

"What if 'Forever' also begins?" Anupam stuck his tongue out.

"Not interested in that," Anurag gave a straight look.

"The scene is looking like that typical clichè romance book," Sid yawned.

"Wait you read such books," Anupam exclaimed with disgust.

"No-- I don't," Sid gave them a nervous smile.

"I'm gonna tell your future girlfriend about this for sure!" Anurag cackled in joy, followed by Anupam.

Next day, 5:30 pm.

"So what type of boyfriend had you imagined?" Anurag asked Prerna. They both were sitting on a bench and were admiring the breathtakingly beautiful sunset scenario of Mussoorie. Prerna was done with her library work, while Anurag went trekking today with Anupam and Sid. Surprisingly, they came back earlier than the sunset.

"Boyfriend? And you? We are just together for a week, there's no 'Forever' between us!"

"I know I know, even I'm not interested in you but you are undoubtedly a unique combination of hot and smart, and now sassy."

"Boyfriend of my dreams - not that one who always tries to find moments for lip locks, I love forehead kisses more than them. And yes, what about you?"

"Just the one who loves me, that's it, nothing else."

"And I'm certainly not the 'one'." Prerna chuckled lightly.

Anurag didn't know what to reply and they were back in their 'awkward' trance, neither she spoke nor he said - just blessing their eyes with the gorgeous panorama.

"If it's going to be like this, then I guess I would have to back off," Prerna said with all her courage.

"I don't know, I need to read some books to be in my normal self, but the library would be closed now, right?"

"You forgot, I'm the assistant librarian and I also have the keys!"

"Don't tell me 'we' are going there."

"Yes 'you and I' are going there, right now, come quickly!"

She pulled him up and they both ran to their destination, Mussoorie Library. Prerna had just closed the library and was going to her home when Anurag came and they both sat there to enjoy the sunset. The bench was close to the place.

Unknown to Prerna, something irked Anurag by her words, though it was a very small thing, this hurted him that she used 'you and me', not 'we'. Might be a very small thing for everyone, but it made a deep effect on him unknowingly.

Prerna was not that type of girl who can be understood in one go, and that was the problem that happened with the other 'whimsical', they thought they 'knew' her, understood her and that resulted in her dumping them away in a moment.

But Anurag wasn't that guy, he knew she had made a wall for the rest of the world. Though in one meeting, Anurag felt like 'this' can at least last for a month rather than a week. They weren't interested in any physical relationship, and nor were they in any emotional one. It was just a normal 'Whimsical' for them.

'There is something more to you, Prerna', Anurag sighed and added, 'Which can't be known in a week'.

Prerna slyly unlocked the side door of the library, all this while Anurag was pleading her not to do this as it may result in the loss of her job. Perhaps she was fonder of reading books than listening to Anurag's rants, precisely with him. As she unlocked the door, where the cameras can't see them, she pulled inside an irritated Anurag.

"Why do you always give so much advice? You talk like Gyaani Baba! Oh yes! I'm going to call you Internet Gyaani Baba from now on! Oh, you're so smart Prerna!" She continued blabbering; to which Anurag responded in irksome, "Done? Can we read some books now?"

"Of course, that's why we came."

Anurag ignored her and was going to walk further when suddenly he was pulled by Prerna.

"What are you doing?"

They both again asked each other in unison.

"There are cameras, I’ll lose my job, you can't go there!"

"Then why are we here in the first place if you don't want to lose your job?"

"I love adventures," she chuckled to herself.

"Adventure? Is this an adventure Prerna?"

Alas, Prerna just ignored him and brought two books running quickly - her speed was fast, which made her end up in Anurag's arms as she hit her foot with the edge of the bench.

Anurag swiftly caught her in his arms - his hands wrapped around her waist - eyes too busy in her eyes to care about the rest of the world - concern, and tension for her as she had hit her feet with the bench.

He made her sit on the bench with the utmost comfort and began his scolds.

"Why are you so clumsy? Can't you see and walk, oh sorry run! I hope your knee is not bruised, can you walk--"

Words didn't come out from his mouth, when Prerna kept her finger on his lips, making his throat dry.

"Thank you so much for this care, Anurag! Thank you!" With this, she hugged him. Tears flowing down her eyes, kohl smudged a little.

"Must be wondering why am I crying for that very small lecture, I'm here all alone for rest of the months, my best friend, Anjali comes every three or four times a year and Kirti, two times a year, they have their lives back then in Kolkata, it was purely my decision to settle here in this place, and I have no regrets but brought up in care of non-orthodox and very loving parents, so many friends, cousins, paternal and maternal grandparents, it was a perfect life! But here, after that stupid relationship, I lost interest from everything and thought to shift here for peace of mind. I got my peace but that care from other humans was something I craved for."

Prerna ended her short monologue and again found herself in Anurag's arms. That tight yet decent hug made her believe one thing, 'Anurag is not like that every other guy'.

Of course she went on numerous dates, had flings, whimsicals, but the guys always turned out to be more and more possessive of her, all wanted a happily-ever-after life with her, asking to meet their parents and stuff made her feel like banging her head on the walls. But Anurag clearly said a 'no' for 'Forever', and that's what she liked! She was tired of all these orthodox people.

He was nearly her type yet they were not made for 'Forever'. And that was what pulled them together. Complicated to explain, no love, no commitments, no thoughts for future yet planning to stick with each other and then again 'planning to stick with each other' doesn't mean 'Forever'.

"22 tak padhai, 25 pe naukri, 26 pe chokri, 30 pe bachche, 60 pe retirement ... aur phir maut ka intezaar ... dhat aaisi ghisi piti life thodi jeena chahta hoon."

~ Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani

(Translation : Study till 22, job at 25, girl at 26, kids at 30, retirement at 60 ... and then wait for death ... who wants to live such a boring life).

This quote was true for them, both of them learned something from their heartbreaks, simultaneously. Prerna just doesn't want to get into any serious relationship, and her heart is strong enough not to fall for just some care by the guy. Anurag - now follow the quote, and who can stop him from doing so? He got wealth, fame, everything one can imagine, now what's left is his dreams. His dreams do not stop ever! Just want to live the moment and go for another lively one.

Stuck in this facade of long term relationships by their closed ones, who want them to be settled with someone. But their hearts aren't accepting these normal terms & conditions of society, claiming them to be void.

Prerna pulled herself out of the hug, Anurag took out a handkerchief to make her smudged kohl proper.

"I'll wash this hanky and give it to you tomorrow," Prerna mouthed, eyeing at the white handkerchief, now a little black at some portions because of her kohl.

"It's okay, I'll do it," Anurag took the piece of cloth slowly.

They both took a book to read, though a small similarity, but they both found this extraordinary as not everyone is fond of reading books. While some people just think their course books, school books are only enough, some just love reading books like anything. They both were like the latter ones, just a good song in the background along with a good vocabulary book, now that's what peace is!

The sun was down now, the moon was ready to grace the sky, and that's when they realized - it's getting dark now! Prerna, still being stubborn, again ran to keep the books in their proper place, saving herself from the security cameras and pointed-edge benches but couldn't save herself from Anurag's scolds.

"Anurag, scold me when we'll get out, okay?"

They both exited from the library without getting in range of the camera, the library was very big in area, the high bookshelves made the place like those libraries of famous Bollywood movie's colleges.

Prerna locked the door properly and turned around to find an angry Anurag.

"What happened to you? Why are you fuming in anger?"

"Nothing, just trying to know what type of girl you are."

"You won't say you 'know' me?"

"No! Understanding a complicated girl like you is difficult, which I don't think I'll get to know in a week too."

'If only Vikrant was like him', Prerna sighed.

"What's wrong?" Anurag asked as he saw her lost somewhere.

"Nothing, the memories of my ex-boyfriend again hit up," she smiled faintly.

"What's his name?"

"Why are you so interested, Chubby Anurag Basu?"

"Just like that."

"Sorry Mr. Basu, he is personal to me, even if he is not with me now, I wished that girl never existed."

"Hmm?"

"Just because of that girl, Mishka Chaubey! My Vikrant lost interest in me," Prerna blurted out in anger.

And Anurag was completely dumbstruck, too shocked to say anything. Again, Mishka came up in his life. 'Why is that girl so hard to just get out of my life?', just one thought in his brain.

 "Mishka Chaubey?"

"Yes, that witch Mishka Chaubey! Daughter of some minister."

From this chaorer I had major writer's block, that's when Sam Di helped me - _starflies_

And yes we are now finally going into depths of their characters, the next chapter is my favourite!

And I hope you all liked this chapter!

And if you are thinking that Anurag will stay here for Forever with Prerna, Naah I'm not making the plot more cliché.
