I Shouldn't

Guess who's back.~ ^_^

I'm finally feeling like myself again so I should be back to updating as much as I can now. Thanks to everyone who was understanding for the little break I took. Now let's continue onto the story.~

"Dio!" You called out to the mop of blonde hair that was just visible above the back of the chair he sat in. Without having to look at his face you could tell you had interrupted his trained thought on whatever book he was holding at the moment.

He let out a sigh, that being the only indication that he acknowledged your presence. You rested your arms on the back of the chair and placed your chin on top of his blonde locks.

"Is there a reason for you being so clingy tonight?" Dio grumbled, obviously not wanting a disturbance, and continued on reading his book.

"Not really, I was just bored." You simply replied and twirled a strand of his hand between your fingers.

Dio raised an eyebrow at your unusual behavior and glanced at the clock. "It's midnight just go sleep if you're so bored."

You let out an inaudible groan. "Don't you think I would have by now if I could." You hesitated before adding, "I thought you would have enjoyed my company with how much you always insist to have me around."

Dio shut his book and sat it on the stand beside him. He got up from the chair, much to your despair, and turned to look at you. "And whatever are you trying to imply with that?" A mischievous look in his eyes appeared as he began to smirk. "You know this isn't exactly the place for a man and woman to be for their night companionship." He leaned over the chair and stared you down. "You never know who could walk in." The last remark he made was said in a low whisper.

"Yeah...I knew I should have gone to Jojo instead." You were about to leave when Dio grabbed your wrist and pulled you around the chair. He then sat back down and pulled you into his lap. A blush automatically appeared on your cheeks as you sat down. "D-Dio what do you think you're doing?"

Dio grabbed the book he was reading before you entered the room and reopened it  to the page he had left on. "Obviously I'm reading and since you're bored you can keep me company." He answered sternly.

"Is it really necessary for me to sit on your lap to do so?" You inquired.

"It is if your thinking about going to Jojo." He huffed.

You secretly let out a small smile at how childish Dio was acting over his petty jealousy with Jojo, but you decided to stay quiet about it since you didn't want to over step. You relaxed yourself and leaned your back against his chest, your head on his shoulder, and eventually you dozed off.

You woke up with a light pitter patter of your heart in remembrance of that one night from years ago. You placed your right hand over your heart and your left hand over your eyes. 'I really need to stop feeling this way about him, he's going to try to kill Jonathan...'  You sighed at your unwanted feelings.

You then heard a light chuckle sound from beside you. "You okay there (Y/N)?"

Your eyes widened in surprise at the unexpected voice and you looked over to your left to see the devil himself. "Dio?!" You sat up straight on the bed frame and looked at the intruder.

Dio was laid out beside you with his head resting on his hand. "You're certainly jumpy this morning."

You blinked at him a couple times, still in a bit of a daze. "What the hell are you doing in my bed? Couldn't you have slept on the floor or in a coffin?"

"I believe you're mistaken there (Y/N). This was my bed long before I allowed you to sleep in it with me. And that was a very harsh stereotype of vampires there." Dio smugly stated.

"Who said I wanted to even be in this bed with you?"

"I wanted you here with me and that's all that matters." He said nonchalantly.

You felt your heart stop for a moment, but quickly shook off the feeling. "You should think about how others feel for once instead of being so self centered."

"Tsk." Dio let out the sound and then forcefully got out of the bed. He made his way around the bed and stood by your side before lowering himself to your eye level and placed his arm on the bed frame close to your head. "It's a lot more fun when things go my way." Dio chimed.

"Besides," he slowly traced his thumb along your jawline and stopped at your chin. "I believe you like it better this way as well."

You could have gotten lost in the golden hue of his eyes, but quickly jerked your head away from his grasp and looked away from Dio. 'Breathe in and out...God this is bad.'

Dio sighed at your response and sat down on the edge of the bed. "You've always been a bit difficult, but this is a bit much don't you think?" You could feel his gaze on you. "(Y/n)?" You still didn't reply to his attempts at conversation. You could feel Dio getting more irritated as time went by until eventually you felt a pair of hands roughly cup your face and make you look at the target of your constant despair. "Did you lose all manners within the short timespan that I've been gone? It's common sense to look at someone when they talk and to reply when spoken to."

"Sorry things don't always go your way Dio." You sharply reply, not liking being manhandled.

"Has something change between last night and now with you?" Dio inquired.

'Nothing that hasn't been rattling my mind for years.'

You took in a sharp breath. You weren't sure how to reply to him without everything being laid out on the table. How could he even understand how you were feeling?

Taking your silence as a sign of you not replying Dio let go of your face and put his hand on top of your head. "(Y/N) why do you keep doubting your feelings and pushing me away?"

You were a bit astonished by how he was able to pick up on the debate that has been going on in your head for a while. But then you remembered that he had wanted to be a lawyer so of course he was good at reading people. "Dio your literally trying to kill Jojo. How could I accept liking you?"

"Yes but what does Jojo have to do with what's going on between you and I?" The question stopped you for a moment. True that usually a relationship only needs to be deal with the two in it, but this was a different thing. Dio wanted to kill your best friend.

"But-"

"(Y/N) stop." Dio's voice boomed. "You should just give in already. I'm not going to let you go so easily."

You looked at him once again puzzled. "Why not? I was just another one of your pawns used to get to Jojo wasn't I?"

"At first you were, but now I'm not too sure." Dio started. "Guess your annoying attitude rubbed off on me in a way I never predicted. I can't quite explain it, but I know one thing for sure." He looked deep into your eyes. "You're essential to me (Y/N)." Dio had a small smile on his face, extremely different from his usual smirks. It caused your heart to start beating irregularly once again. Dio cleared his throat. "Besides as you said earlier you should start thinking about how the one's around you feel."

Dio got up from the bed and held out a hand to you. "Now come on let's go get some breakfast."
