12 - Blast From The Past

Geneva lifts her head up, suddenly jerking her arms when receiving the sensation that they are tied behind her back on the chair she's sitting on.

She squints her eyes, an overhead bulb illuminating the room enough for her to make out the size and what it holds inside.

Like straight out of a movie, the room meets the expectations of every single clichéd kidnapping basement. Leaking pipes decorate the wall in a jagged pattern while the stained walls and floor make it seem quite uncomfortable. Not to forget mentioning the stench of damp wood and dust that nearly suffocates Geneva.

"Hello?" She calls out hoarsely, "Thomas untie me NOW!"

CLANG!

Geneva jerks at the screeching and loud noise of the rooms metal door sliding open. As if on demand, Thomas stands on the open side leaning on the wall and watching her sadly.

"What?" Geneva snaps and he sighs, walking to her slowly. He holds a glass of water in his hands and outshot out to her face. She takes a quick sniff of the liquid then opens her mouth. Thomas helps her, of course he has to... her hands are tied.

He brings a chair over and sits on it backwards, the back rest facing Geneva. "It's great seeing you Dee, it's been years," He scans her from bottom to top then smiles, seeming to genuinely meaning it.

"My name is Geneva, I was never Delilah-"

"Sweetheart you can't forget that life so easily. We were a 'match made in heaven', as the saying goes," He smirks, "We did great things-"

"We did horrible things Thomas. We killed people, we robbed places and we... We're bad people Thomas, and we're going to pay for it," Geneva says with misery and Thomas glares at her.

"Nah... YOU are going to pay for it," He states and gets up from his seat.

"What do you mean?! We were a team-"

"Yeah we were a team but you quit, you can never leave a life like that for good Dee."

"I said... MY NAME IS GENEVA!" She yells and tugs on her tied hands with full force, wanting to attack Thomas badly.

"OH FOR LORDS SAKE! You pretend that you were never Delilah but deep down that's your true calling and Colin... he's my true calling!" Thomas shouts, "So stop moping and ask why you're here."

She eyes him with rage and hatred then takes in a deep breath, "Why am I here."

"Well your normal success caught my eye so I thought we should meet! Why not make you suffer a bit?" He smiles with sarcasm, then pulls out a gun from the back of his jeans seam, which alarms Geneva, "You put me down in the dirt Gen, you made me suffer for how long? Three years?! THREE goddamn years of pain, torture and survival."

"You could have quit."

"COULD I? You got it easy, got your perfect little home and your perfect little guy-"

He stops abruptly, a new sense of anger erupts on his face. "What's with that HUH?! You conveniently got a lawyer as your boyfriend and go free from a court case that was-"

"Fool proof?" Geneva laughs with disbelief and disappointment, "Look at you, trembling at the knees and aching for some sort of revenge that you won't get, ever. You're lousy, you've lost your expert touch and as long as I was around you had a chance at being one of the best but now... now you've just gave in to brutal torture and violence huh?"

She finds herself with a new gained confidence to face him. "You won't hurt me Thomas, I know you. You think you're on top of the world but let's face it, people like us are never going to reach there. You won't lay a finger on me-"

Thomas charges towards her then pulls out a pocket knife and grabs Geneva's hair. He tugs it back and make a cut from her neck to her collar bone.

Rather than screaming out in pain, she flinches and cries. Her pain tolerance has grown over the ears.

Seeing it as an open opportunity, she knees him in his lower region, making Thomas stumble backwards.

He swears out loud then once he regains his posture, he points the gun to her forehead. "You think I'm weak, you think I'm dumb, you think I'm nothing compared to you... What's different? You've always thought of me like that-"

"NO I would never-"

"So why did you leave?! You couldn't work with me anymore. I was such a burden, a liability and you had to get me out of your life huh!" He bends down till his face is at Geneva's level, "You never gave a rat's arse about me!"

"I loved you Thomas! I loved you more than anything in the world but I couldn't...stay in that bubble of negativity any more!" Geneva cries out, tears streaming down her face partly because of the wound on her neck, "You were my whole world Tom, why do you think you were the chosen one with me?! I wanted to spend my whole life with you but the running-away would never let us!"

Crowther stares at Geneva, speechless while also choosing to not say a word.

"You don't mean it. Why don't you save your energy for your boyfriend-"

"He's NOT my boyfriend ALRIGHT? He's a good man."

Thomas laughs loudly, "You with your goodness again! Shut up about it already!" He holds his forehead and huffs, then fiddles with his pistol.

"Look, I did what I did because I had to-"

"You know why I put you in trial and framed you? Maybe it was because I wanted your attention, I wanted to gain your understanding. Maybe I wanted you to feel weak and vulnerable. You wouldn't have been here if it wasn't for that lawyer, how do you feel about that?! You'd be squirming in jail while your brain eats itself up!" Thomas snaps.

"I feel great because I know I'm flawed Thomas! I know that I'm not good at everything, even though at one point I did. People change, you need to change too," Geneva reasons and he clenches his jaw.

He shakes his head slowly at first but then yells out loud with frustration, loading his gun then pointing it straight at her face.

"I shoot you and I'm free right?"

Geneva gulps, "Y-You shoot me and the cops will surely find you."

"You're right, I guess I'll have to get rid of Saul Goodman then-"

"No NO! Don't you DARE lay a finger on him Crowther!

BANG!

He shoots a bullet to the ceiling, making some concrete dust fall to the floor. Geneva starts laughing, an evil ring to her voice.

"Sh-Shut up!"

"Oh Thomas, you forgot... that I'm the expert on ropes," She mocks then whips the rope she was tied by with her now free hands.

He stumbles back, almost tripping and falling, then tightens his fists and punches Geneva in the nose, making her groan with pain.

She spots some knuckle dusters on the table and runs towards them but Thomas takes the ropes and flings it to the front of her neck, choking her while pulling her back to him.

Her hands try their best to grab the role and throw it off but Thomas' strength over powers hers. Geneva sees the opportunity when Thomas holds her arms down and elbows him in the gut and back-kicks him in the shins.

She makes a run for the knuckle sisters once again, this time gaining success. She holds her hands out with fierce defense and Thomas pauses.

"Woah there, look we don't have to make it tough eh?" Thomas says slowly with caution, "All we have to do is-"

"ARGH!" Geneva yells out in agony after the gunpowder Thomas had flung went into her eyes. She starts throwing her fists around when she here's someone walk by her.

Thomas grabs her from behind, arm around her neck, and Geneva runs backwards to bang him into the wall.

She grasps his shirt and holds it tightly then starts punching him, the knuckle dusters giving her strong support. At first Thomas fought to push her off but a few lunches later he gave up.

His face drips with blood, while he groans in pain and trauma. The hand on her shoulder slips off, his weakness grows by the second.

Geneva comes to a slow halt, staring at him and breathing heavily, then letting him go. Thomas stays standing for a moment then collapses to the floor.

"I'm letting you go Thomas, now let go of me-"

"N-Never... You're going to suffer for everything. You d-don't mean... a-anything to me anymore, I will hurt y-you G-en," He coughs and rests his head back on the wall, "I will find you again."

Geneva backs away, then makes a run for it. She races down the hallways of what she figures is a hour on the country side. She was kept hostage in the basement.

Once she steps outside, she frantically looks around for a vehicle. Finding none to aid her, she starts running after guessing which way is home.
