Conspiracy theories

"WHAT IF Queen Elizabeth is a different vampire species?" Garrett starts as Harper looks up from her book. Garrett and his questionable thoughts.

"Maybe she's a witch," A thick British accent intervenes. Eloise plops down on the couch beside Garrett, indulging him in his thoughts. Garrett smiles widely.

"I hate Brits, but for you, Eloise, I'm willing to make an exception," Garrett tells her, and Eloise gives her a mocking bow. "Truly Honored," Eloise replies.

"And how did you come up with a theory that she's a witch?" Garrett asks. He was interested. Invested even, he loves conspiracy theories.

"I didn't, ask Thalia. She knows all about other supernatural species." Eloise tells him as Thalia is suddenly walking towards them. She sits down on the floor and says. "Witches can live for 200 years. The stronger their magic is, the more it can affect their aging."

"And you know how?" Garrett squints his eyes at her, and Thalia says, "A woman doesn't tell her secrets," as her fingers just imitate zipping her lips shut. And stands up, "I'm off to look for Carlisle,"

"Hey! You can't leave us like that!" Garrett yells out to her frustratedly.

"Have any of you seen Emmett?" Esme asks, walking towards them, holding a basket full of laundry, "He told me he would help me with laundry."

Harper chuckles. She knew where Emmett was precisely. "I think he was just playing chess with Jasper," Eloise tells Esme, and Garrett disagrees, "No, he was just testing out if Kate's power could power up a lightbulb."

Harper snorts, which she never does, and Garrett looks at her wide-eyed. "You never did that."

"Maybe I do now." Harper casually shrugs her shoulders off. "Emmett can't be left unsupervised. One minute he was carving shit on trees in the woods to scare tourists, and the next, he and Jasper were vandalizing Fork's signage with penises." Harper has only been with the Cullens for about a month, and the number of the stupid shit that Emmett and Jasper had done, sometimes Eden, when they indulge them, just keeps getting higher.

And witnessing some is purely entertaining. She would never have the gut to do any of it, which was chaotic.

Harper closes her book shut and says, "I think he's in the attic. He and Jasper are racing in the trees." After talking every night since she stayed here, they talked a lot, shared a lot, and that was a big step coming from Harper.

And Emmett is so patient with her. All she receives from him is nothing but pure genuinity that she thought she would never feel from someone ever again...and she was growing attached, and it scared her. It was an unfamiliar feeling that she nonetheless welcomed.

"Oh, those boys, a hundred years old, and they still act like kids." Esme scolds. She knows Jasper and Emmett can hear her, but her tone isn't condescending or mad. Christopher enters the living room and walks in Esme's direction. Taking the laundry basket in her hold. "I'll help you, sweety. Come on." As he places a kiss on her cheek. And they exited the living room.

Harper stands up from her seat. Placing the book back on the shelf. "Where are you going?" Garrett asks. "For a walk," Harper answers shortly.

Garrett accepts her answer and proceeds with his conversation with Eloise about Queen Elizabeth being a witch or vampire.

Harper stopped near the river falls, and the sounds of the clashing water distracted her from her negative thoughts. Just a few more weeks before the snow sticks on the ground, and her entire perspective changed from the way she first arrived here.

The Cullen are only vampires that are trying to live a mundane life. And the Volturi come in to destroy it. It was an unacceptable fate. All the vampires in their rule, all wanted was just to live out their immortality, and they deserved that without fear of giving the Volturi a single speck of suspiciousness.

She made her decision. She's going to fight alongside the Cullens. With Emmett by her side.

Then suddenly, someone wrapped their arms around her, jumping them into the river, and it all happened so fast before Harper could even process what the hell had just happened. All she heard when she reached the surface was a familiar laugh.

"What the hell, Emmett," Harper says, brushing the wet strands of her fiery red hair away from her face. Yet she releases a laugh. "You seem so consumed by your thoughts and the way I saw your frown wasn't good," Emmett tells her as he swam towards her hugging her.

Harper just rolls her eyes and just wraps her arms around his neck. "You know I could choke you right here right now."

Emmett gives her a grin, "Didn't know you're into that kinky stuff." biting his lip, and Harper just slaps his chest playfully. Guess he hasn't finished the book she gave him. There is a lot more than kinky stuff.

"Oh, I'm into something worse than just kinks," Harper whispers to his ear and Emmett as if something compels him to do so.

He places a hand on the back of her head and captures her lips. And it all felt surreal for Harper. Weeks of build-up tension between them, and it all came down to a kiss of need full of passion and desire.

Harper wrapped her legs around his waist, kissing him deeply, and that was when she felt it.

She felt at home in Emmett's arms.
