It just gets worse

ELOISE NEVER THOUGHT OF HERSELF BEING IN ANOTHER WAR-LIKE STATE.

She thought she left it all behind when she gained the courage to choose herself and leave Maria and her selfish and power-hungry ways in the South.

Yet now she finds herself purposely and willingly joining a fight, but for a better cause, a better reason, she was fighting for the family who gave her the safest space to be...herself.

And Eloise couldn't help but feel grateful for the family who had also given Jasper sanctuary in a time of need, the family who helped him be himself again after everything he had been through.

Peter and Charlotte wished them luck again, apologizing for not being able to join the fight, yet Eloise never held it against them.

Being in another situation where killing is involved made them remember memories they never wished to recall.

Eloise stood in front of the Cullen family with Jasper by her side. They listened intently to the sounds around them, preparing themselves for any movements that indicated that the newborns had arrived.

With inhuman footsteps. They saw them emerge from the woods.

Eloise was right...about twenty to twenty-five newborns.

Eloise then braced herself by altering her scent to smell like Bella, and the newborns went rabid as they ran in their direction.

Jasper looks at Eloise, with her already looking at him. They both nod and sprint ahead, with Eloise grabbing a newborn by the neck and ripping its head quickly.

Eloise sees Rosalie outnumbered, with Eloise already running in Rosalie's direction. She sensed someone was chasing after her, yet Jasper saw her running towards Eloise's direction with him ripping the newborn's shoulder from its body.

Eloise leaps towards the newborn in front of Rosalie, grabbing it by the neck as Rosalie kicks the body, tearing it from the head.

Rosalie nods as she proceeds toward Esme and Christopher's direction. Eloise sees a shapeshifter struggling with a newborn that has its hand wrapped around its body, and Eloise immediately runs in their direction with her grabbing the newborn by the shoulder and ripping it away from its body.

Eloise then sees a glimpse of red hair from her peripheral vision. It was Victoria.

"Cordelia, now!" Eloise yells in Cordelia's direction as Cordelia sees Victoria in the direction of the mountains.

Cordelia runs towards Victoria but is attacked by a newborn behind, locking her in place.

Eloise sprints towards her and tackles the newborn from the side, with the newborn losing its hold on Cordelia.

"Go!" Eloise yells. Cordelia ran in the direction of the mountains, where she was sure Victoria was heading towards Edward and Bella's campsite.

Eloise then held the newborn in place, but another tackled her from the side, then she felt it.

A bite. It was fucking excruciatingly painful, as she remembered.

"You bloody bitch." Eloise groans as she feels the venom spread through her body as if she was burning.

A grey shapeshifter then leaps in the newborn's direction, ripping the two newborns' heads off easily. Eloise held her arm where she was bit and hissed.

Cordelia never ran so fast in her entire life, not even when James and Victoria hunted her.

Now she is the predator, and Victoria is her prey.

She sees Edward and Victoria fighting, with Edward losing badly.

Cordelia tackles Victoria to the ground and grabs her red hair, and makes Victoria look her in the eyes.

"Remember me, you little shit?" Cordelia grins as Victoria responds with a devilish grin of her own, "I do. You're the one who ran like a scared bitch."

Cordelia then slams Victoria's head into the ground. "This is for my father.-" Then another, "This is for separating me from Alice-" Cordelia holds her by the neck and says, "Enjoy hell, you red-headed bitch, and say hello to the devil for me. They'll know what to do."

Cordelia then rips Victoria's head from her body.

She holds Victoria's held up with a lit lighter at hand, burning her head first, then throwing the lighter in the direction of Victoria's body.

Cordelia was finally free. And it felt good.

Cordelia looks at Edward with a grateful nod for not him killing Victoria, and Edward smiles at her while Bella looks at her in shock.

"Don't look so shocked now, Bella. Trust me. It feels good to finally kill her."

As the number of newborns became none, Eloise scanned the clearing making sure there were no longer rogue newborns.

Her eyes landed on piles of dismembered bodies of newborns, with Emmett burning the bodies.

Eloise still has a tight hold on her arm. The pain of the bite did not subside; it would take the whole day for the pain to numb.

Jasper walks towards her, already feeling her pain, and immediately offers his help with removing the pain she's been feeling.

"Just another collection added. It's no big deal. I'm fine." Eloise assures Jasper with a tight lip smile, and Jasper frowns as he continues to send waves of calm, trying to dull the pain.

Jasper tucks a stray of her golden blonde hair behind her ear, and Eloise says, "I'm a mess." She holds her tangled hair.

"Beautiful as ever," Jasper responds as he places a peck on her forehead. Eloise leans in as Jasper tucks her in his arms.

"They're coming." Eloise hears Alice say. She then sees Cordelia, Edward, and Bella heading in their direction.

"How long?" Edward asks.

"A few minutes, maybe ten?" Alice responds. Cordelia then intertwines her hands with hers, placing a kiss on the back of Alice's hand.

"The pack needs to leave. The Volturi won't honor a truce with the werewolves," Carlisle informs everyone.

The Volturi.

Oh, bloody hell, just this day couldn't get any worse.

Eloise hears a snarl behind them. Only to see the grey shapeshifter from earlier in the arms of a newborn.

"Leah, don't!" Edward shouted. Jacob latched onto the newborn and rolled around the newborn's grip to Jacob, damaging his side and causing sounds of cracking bones.

She heard Bella's concerned voice towards Jacob and a woman complaining about having the newborn.

She heard Carlisle advise them about resetting the bones.

"They need to get him out of here. We're not winning a fight with the Volturi," Eloise informs the pack.

She watched the pack lift Jacob's body from the ground; she heard the pained whimpers escape from his lips.

"They're coming," Alice announces. Eloise stilled for a moment, seeing Jane and her little minions again. They, indeed, would cause trouble again.

The Volturi guards, Jane, Alec, and the witch twins with Demetri, Alex, and Felix, emerged from the woods.

"Impressive. I've never seen a coven escape an assault of this magnitude intact." Jane says to them as they take off their black hoods.

"We were lucky," Carlisle answers her shortly.

"I doubt that," Jane says and looks at each one of them as if looking for someone.

"She's not here, Jane." Rosalie softly says as Jane's eyes set towards Rosalie's direction and see Eloise and Jasper.

"-When you have them by your side, you will always win a battle," she smirked at the two. Eloise tried not to roll her eyes.

Alec began to talk, "It appears we missed an entertaining fight."

"Yes. It's not often we're rendered unnecessary." Jane states. The Volturi itself is unnecessary, Eloise says in her mind, with Edward looking in her direction with a grin.

"If you'd arrived a half-hour ago, you would have fulfilled your purpose," Eloise replies with a smirk making Jane glare at her.

"Pity." her eyes landed on a certain person at the back of the family, "You missed one."

The family surrounded the newborn in a protective stance.

"We offered her asylum in exchange for her surrender," Carlisle informs them.

"That wasn't yours to offer." Jane shortly states, not taking her eyes off the girl. "Why did you come?" She asked the girl, causing the girl to look in fear suddenly at an ear-piercing scream released from the girl's mouth, dropping to her knees because of the pain.

Jane used her pain illusion, making Eloise look at Jasper, who was trying to contain himself from groaning in pain.

Jasper felt the newborn's suffering, making Eloise wrap her arm around Jasper's waist.

"Who created you?" Jane questioned her but did not let her get a chance to answer.

"You don't have to do that, Jane. She will tell you anything you want to know." Eloise tells her, making Jane look at her with a smirk.

The screams stopped.

Jasper felt relieved.

"I know."

Bitch.

"I-I don't know! Riley wouldn't tell us. He said our thoughts weren't safe," The girl answers Jane quickly.

"Her name was Victoria. Perhaps you knew her?" Edward informs Jane.

"Edward, if the Volturi had knowledge of Victoria, they would've stopped her. Isn't that right, Jane?" Carlisle questioned calmly, not wanting to get Edward in trouble and making Jane angry.

"Of course," Jane replies with a fake smile.

"Felix," she called out. She looked at him and the newborn.

Felix got the message, and he slowly approached the girl.

"She didn't know what she was doing!" Esme defends the young girl.

Making Felix step's stop making, Jane look at Esme with a raised eyebrow. Christopher then says, "We'll take responsibility for her."

"Give her a chance," Carlisle adds.

Jane started to get annoyed, "The Volturi doesn't give any second chances-" Jane looked at Eloise and Jasper, "Not with the likes of her anyway."

"Caius will be interested to know that she's still human," Jane adds and looks at Bella.

"The date is set," Bella quickly answered her.

Jane just scowled.

"Take care of that, Felix. I'd like to go home." Jane orders Felix, and he makes his way toward the young girl.

Eloise then held Jasper's hand as they looked away from the gruesome sight.

Jane looks at Rosalie and says, "Tell her to visit when she returns from her travels."

"Of course, Jane." Rosalie smiles at Jane, with Jane gives her a nod. The Volturi guards went on their way to their home.
