Catching up

"WHAT HAPPENED TO MY FAMILY?" Alice asks Cordelia as they walk around the abandoned and dark halls of the hospital. Cordelia purses her lips and looks at her. The brunette woman knew that Alice was going to ask about her family.

"When your father admitted you to the hospital, you were announced dead the minute you stepped in these halls," Cordelia tells her as they stopped at a window overlooking the forest and continues, "You have a stepmother six months after your mother died because your father sent someone to kill her, of course, you've seen it, that's why they sent you here in the first place," She then looks at Alice who is listening intently, the pixie then looks at Cordelia and nods encouraging her to continue.

Cordelia sighs. "You've been called a witch by the town's people because of your visions. You predicted your cousin's death. You have a sister named Cynthia. I have been watching her. She's 85 years old by now. She has a daughter," Cordelia has been taking care of Alice's sister. It was the least she could do for the pixie, sending anonymous donations to help with their bills.

"The doctors here took an interest in your condition, they wanted to do more, but I didn't let them," Cordelia tells her as she turns around and heads towards the stairs with Alice following behind her.

Cordelia then enters a room with old pieces of equipment and a chair, where Alice sits when she takes her Electroshock treatments.

"This-" Cordelia points towards the chairs with straps on each side, "-Is where you sit when you take your Electroshock treatments, and I was always right beside you all the time," Cordelia tells her as Alice walks forward and touches the chair and she sighs.

"James said that two vampires changed me. Where is the other one?" Alice asks, and Cordelia sucks in a breath and looks away, and says, "Mansion, James killed him."

"I'm so sorry for your loss, Cordelia," Alice says as she approaches the brunette woman, placing a comforting hand on her shoulder. "It's not only my loss, yours too. Mansion was my Carlisle, and he treated you the same."

"Come, I have to show you something," Cordelia tells her as the brunette woman exits the hospital and walks towards the forest, Alice following behind her. Deep into the forest, they stopped on a tree stomped with a carved 'M.'

"This spot is where James took his life," Cordelia informs Alice, and the pixie purses her lips and just nods, looking around the forest.

"I accidentally placed a memory on James when he was chasing me. It was recent. I have known that you and your family reside in Forks. I'm always updated on where you were when James was chasing after me. I was thinking of Forks. I was supposed to place a memory of me in Spain. Instead, I placed a memory of me in Forks," Cordelia confesses, and Alice sighs. That's why James and Victoria were suddenly in Forks. No vampire took an interest in a small and gloomy town.

"I was the reason why the James and Bella fiasco happened," Cordelia tells her, and Alice looks at her wide-eyed. "You know about Bella?"

Cordelia chuckles and smiles. "Of course I do. I saw her at the Ballet Studio."

"You were there?"

"I got to make sure that James is dead, really dead this time, and it was satisfying to watch," Cordelia tells her as she takes Alice's wrist on her hold and guides her towards the garden of the hospital. The sun is setting, so no need to worry about them shining.

"I never felt so much relief before and freedom. James is gone, and I can finally metaphorically breathe," Cordelia says with a smile, and Alice smiles at her and says, "How many decades have they been chasing you?"

Cordelia sits on the bench, Alice following, and says, "Sweety, they've been chasing me since James killed Mansion."

Alice blushes at the pet name and tries to hold a smile. "It must've been hard."

Cordelia shakes her head and says, "Not really, it was fun messing with James' and Victoria's memories, how they get so frustrated all the time," with a laugh escaping her lips.

And Alice smiles at the sound. She likes to hear her laugh. No, she adores hearing Cordelia laugh.

"Tell me about your family," Cordelia states to her, and Alice just nods and says, "My adoptive father or our leader of the coven, Carlisle, was changed in 1663. His father believed that they could cleanse the soul of vampires, so his father arranged a raid and made Carlisle in charge, he found a group of vampires, and well, it didn't go well. The vampire that bit him thought he was dead," Alice informs her, and Cordelia nods, looking at her curiously, and urges her to continue.

"Thalia, her wife, my other adoptive mother, was just changed recently in Manhattan, New York. She's a banshee, her ex-live-in partner was going on a killing spree, and one day he shoots Thalia. We caught him, though. Carlisle changed her," Alice says with a shiver coming up her spine. She recalled having those visions of Thalia finding a dead body of a woman that looked like Thalia without a heart.

"Edward was changed the same year as me. Carlisle changed him because he was dying of Spanish influenza that was happening in Chicago. Christopher, Carlisle's old friend, Esme's husband, was changed in the 18th century. He volunteered to be in an army in New Orleans, In the battle of New Orleans, he was shot, and Carlisle changed him."

"Esme, Christopher's wife, changed in 1921. She jumped off a cliff, and Christopher found her with a fading pulse in the morgue. Rosalie was changed in 1933 by Carlisle. He found her beaten up in an alleyway. He was hoping that she would be Edward's mate."

"Emmett, changed in 1935 by Rosalie and her wife. A bear mauled him. Jasper, was a nomad. Ten years after I was changed, I had a vision of him, of him and I joining the family, so I met him in a cafe," Alice lists off and then looks at Cordelia and adds.

"We have one member of the family who's traveling the world. She's Rosalie's wife, I have a feeling she'll be coming home soon, and Jasper's fiancée, she'll be joining the family, Emmett's mate, I'm still not sure, I haven't had a vision of them, but I know it'll be soon."

Cordelia then takes a deep breath and fixes her seating position, and says, "You have a lot of coven members. They all have gifts?" Alice shakes her head and says, "No, Carlise, Christopher, Esme, Emmett, and Rosalie don't have gifts."

"I'm surprised that the Volturi, specifically Aro, isn't intimidated by your coven's number with five gifted vampires in one coven. I'm sure he already took an interest," Cordelia says as she thinks quietly, rubbing a hand on her chin, and Alice nods.

"They already heard of my gift, Edward's and Thalia's. They've been curious," Alice tells her with a sigh, and Cordelia hums.

"It's only a matter of time until they try to convince you to join. Your gift is rare, Alice," Cordelia tells her, and Alice just purses her lips and scoots over to Cordelia, their shoulders touching. Alice places her head on Cordelia's shoulder. "Tell me more of what happened to me."

"I can show you."
