โ–ƒโ–ƒโ–ƒโ–ƒโ–ƒโ–ƒโ–ƒ

"This..is Berk." A boys voice calls out, young with age as he speaks with a sigh.

Mist shrouds dark waters as it leads up to a tall mountain, two pillars sitting at the edge of the water.

"It's twelve days north of hopeless and a few degrees south of freezing to death."

Small fires sit within the statues mouths, flicking and licking at the cold night air.

"It's located solidly on the Meridian of
Misery."

A small village sits within the mist, houses stacked on top one another. A heard of sheep stand in a field, some chewing at the grass while others slept.

"My village. In a word, sturdy. It's been here for seven generations, but every single building is new."

The houses are laid bare, doors slightly open while some sheep stood outside.

"We have fishing, hunting, and a charming view of the sunsets. The only problem.."

A sheep is suddenly snatched from its spot, the other sheep staring slacked jawed as their friend is carried away by a rather large beast.

".. Are the pests."

They shake it off, turning around and going back to what they were doing, continuing to chew at the grass.

"You see..most places have mice or mosquitoes, we have.."

A boy slams a door open and runs inside, people outside can be heard screaming and yelling. He slams the door shut, his back pressed against it as his chest rises and falls with deep breaths.

"Dragons.." he breaths out, his eyes wide.

"Most people would leave. Not us."

Hoards of dragons begin to swoop down, snatching as many livestock as they could before flying away. Some reach down and swipe at Vikings, knocking them off balance as they hit the ground with a groan.

"We're Vikings. We have..stubbornness issues."

The boy rushes out of his house, the roof slightly on fire. He runs forward, passing people and dodging dragons with a small grin on his face.

"My name is Hiccup.."

A Viking falls infront of him but he barely spares a glance, jumping over the fallen man and continuing forward.

"Great name, I know, but..it's not the
worst."

Hiccup ducks under a few Vikings carrying a log, he continues to run, a man looks to him in confusion before getting hit in the head with said log.

"Parents believe a hideous name will frighten off gnomes and trolls."

He stumbles back with a yelp, a fire ball being sent his way, knocking him off his feet and sending him tumbling towards the ground.

"Like our charming Viking demeanour wouldn't do that."

A man's face appears above his, screaming in his face before looking down at him and smiling. "Mornin'!" The Viking says happily, before staring straight and running towards a dragon.

Hiccup gets up and runs through the rest of the village, glancing at people to see if they needed help. A few Vikings turn to him, some in confusion and some in annoyance.

"What are you doing out here?!"

"Get inside!"

"What are you doing out?!"

"Get back inside!!"

He ignores their calls and continues, but screams as the back of his shirt is caught and yanked, a dragon quickly flies down, knocking down a few objects where Hiccup was once standing.

A tall man stood, probably around 7 feet. He had a rather large build, his arms curved to his sides. An immense red beard adorned his face, as well as a horned helmet that he seemed to wear with pride.

He wore a green dress shirt that ended at his ankles, a belt hung around his waist with a large pendant with a dragon on it.

The large man also wore a fur cape draped around his shoulders, spiked edges at the shoulders.

"Hiccup?!" He yells, his voice booming. "What is he doing out again-" he sighs, angrily pointing to Hiccup before glaring at him.

"What are you doing out?! Get inside!" He orders, shoving the boy along before looking around with sharp eyes.

"That's Stoick the Vast..Chief of the tribe."

Stoick watches a dragon fly overhead, his eyes glaring daggers. He makes his way over to another group of Vikings.

"They say when he was a baby, he popped a dragon's head clean off its shoulders."

He grabs a catapult, gripping it before hurling it towards the beast. The catapult lands straight into the dragons head, the creature screeching in pain and dropping the sheep it was carrying.

"Do I believe it? Yes, I do."

"What have we got?" He asks, turning towards a man, his eyes never leaving the dragons. "Gronckles, Nadders, Zipplebacks," the Viking replies as he looks around. "Oh, and Hoark saw a Monstrous Nightmare."

The man yelps, covering his head with his shield as blast sounded near him, some flames landing on the Chiefs shoulder, but he remains unbothered. "Any Night Furies?"

"None so far" the man replies, looking up at him slowly. "Good" Stoick nods, dusting the flame off his shoulder with an eye roll.

...

"Hoist the torches!" Someone yells, and others nodding and quickly lighting them. They raise up torches in the air, the fire burning bright and hot. The dragons roar in annoyance and dodge the flames.

...

Hiccup finally makes it to the blacksmith, running inside and shutting the door with a grunt. He turns around slowly, his breathing uneven and shoulders shaking. "Oh, nice if you to join the party!" A voice calls out.

A six and a half foot man stood at the edge of a desk. His biceps were practically the size of the boys head, several scars decorated the back and front of his hands. A two inch beard hung from his face, similar to a ferret. He stood there with a slight scowl, an annoyed smile on his face.

"He's right, it was getting pretty boring without you."

Hiccup smiles at the familiar voice, he turns and catches sight of a young girl. She stood at another desk, hammering away at a sword, she was unusually skinny, almost as skinny as the small boy infront of her.

Her hands, very much like the tall giant that stood a few feet away from her, were also adorned with several scars, most likely from the hard labor working in the blacksmith.

"(Y/N).." Hiccup calls softly, his whole demeanor seeming to relax at the presence of his best friend, who in return smiles back at him and got back to work. "Thought you'd been carried off.." she snickers, the large brute bellowing a laugh at her remark.

"Who, me?" Hiccup questions with a grin, walking over and tying his apron. "No, come on! I'm way too muscular for their taste." He grunts, struggling to lift a hammer and he sets it down. "They wouldn't know what to do with..all this!"

(Y/N) bites back a laugh and shakes her head, whereas the man had other ideas. "Well, they need tooth picks don't they?" He jokes, the girl gasping dramatically. "Gobber!" She yells, swatting her hand at the man (now known as "Gobber") with a laugh.

Hiccup however, ignores the two and makes his way towards a large window surrounded by Vikings. The all shove weapons into his arms, and he makes his way back inside and gets to work on them quickly.

"The meathead with attitude and interchangeable hand is Gobber. I've been his apprentice ever since I was little. Well..littler."

The skinny boy fans at the hot blades, grunting as he does so. He pushes all his weight down, the embers from the flames licking at his face.

...

"Move to the lower defenses!" Stoick instructs as he looks around. "We'll counterattack with the catapults."

The Vikings all run along the scaff holding, moving down lower as dragons continue to burn and destroy their homes.

"See? Old village, lots and lots of new houses."

A few men carry their sheep's down to the rivers, dodging dragons and avoiding incoming debris. "Fire!" A man yells, catching the attention of the group.

...

A group of teenagers carry buckets of water towards a burning house. Hiccup perking up at the sight of them and moving towards the window.

"That's fishlegs.." a rather large boy with blonde hair and a frightened expression runs frantically with his bucket.

"Snotlout.." another boy runs forward with a bucket, a stern and determined look on his face.

(Y/N) makes her way towards Hiccup, her hair tied into a messy bun with slight sweat rolling down her forehead. She dosnet say anything as she props her arms up at the edge of the window, watching the group of teens run around.

"The twins, Ruffnut and Tuffnut." a boy and a girl, both identical in almost every detail of their person, shove eachother as they fight over a bucket.

"Astrid.." a tall blonde girl runs forward with her bucket, confidence seeming to radiate off of her.

"..and.." Astrid throws her water over the flames, another being set off right beside her.

"Well isn't that something.." (Y/N) suddenly speaks up, Hiccup's attention immediately pulled by her. He stares at her eyes as the orange and red from the fire reflect off of her pupils. The color gave her a certain glow, one that Hiccup found oddly attractive.

"..(Y/N)"

Her hair slightly flows due to the wind, seeming to flow in slow motion as the boy continues to stare. A slight grin makes its way onto his face, his two front teeth sticking out slightly as he does so. (Y/N) feels his eyes and turn towards him, chuckling slightly at his dazed expression.

"You alright over there stick?" She called, emphasizing on the last word. It was pretty self explanatory as to why she called him that, why with everyone always commenting about the boys small figure and lack of muscles, it was hard not to let the name..."stick".

Of course she checked in with Hiccup before allowing it to become a permanent fit. The boy was sceptic about it at first, but once hearing how cute it sounded coming out of his friend's mouth instead of his bully's, he just couldn't say no.

"Hiccup?" His attention is pulled back to reality, finding (Y/N)'s face dangerously close to his. He tenses up, a bright blush coating his cheeks as he watches a playful grin spread across her face.

"Uh y-yeah! Everything is f-fine!" He stammers, turning his head away and flailing his arms. The girl nods with a chuckle, pulling away and making her way back to her desk.

"She's my best friend..we'll...best friend slash crush."

He keeps his eyes on her, biting back a grin as he watches her work. She bit her lip, furrowing her brows as she tries to figure out how to piece together a handle of a sword.

"And she is..absolutely amazing in every way I could ever imagine..."

It may seem a bit creepy, but Hiccup loved watching her work, he loved how her whole demeanor just shifted, she became so focused and controlled. How she just seemed to forget about the rest of the world and put all her attention on something she loved doing.

..though he wouldn't mind if she decided to shift her attention to him once in a while..

He sighs, shifting his attention back to the group outside, they continue to talk, grabbing at an endless row of buckets and throwing them at the raging fires.

"Their job is so much cooler."

He begins to climb out the window, catching the attention of his (H/C) friend. She snickers as Gobber stalks over and grabs Hiccup by his collar, the boy yelling and groaning as he's set back on the ground

"Oh, come on! Let me out, please!" He pleads, "I need to make my mark!" Gobber sets him down with a raised brow, "You've made plenty of marks. All in the wrong places." The man deadpans, (Y/N) wheezing in the background.

"Please! Two minutes, that's all I need to kill a dragon!" Hiccup paces around the room slightly, glancing at Gobber as he does so. "My life will finally get better!" He says before turning his attention towards his best friend, slightly glaring at her. "And someone will finally stop making fun of me!!"

(Y/N) gasps with mock offense, bringing a hand up to her chest while the other sets down the hilt of a sword. "I'm offended you would even think for a moment that I would ever stop making fun of you!" She laughs even harder seeing her friends reaction, clutching her stomach as she struggles to breath.

"She's right y'know!" Gobber laughs with her, his lips pulling into a grin. "You can't lift a hammer, you can't swing an axe..you can't even throw one of these!" He says as he holds up a bola.

A Viking runs past, snatching it and hurling it towards a dragon, wrapping around the beast and pulling it towards the ground.

"Okayyyy fine! But this will throw it for me!" Hiccup says smugly, patting his catapult, but it sets off, the boy gasping as the bola goes flying. (Y/N) ducks with a yelp and Gobber moves out of the way, the bola hitting a Viking in the face, knocking them out.

"See? Now this right here is what I'm talking about!" Gobber sighs as he stomps towards Hiccup. Who in turn tries to come up with an explanation, stammering a bit as he does.
"M-mild calibration issue, and since two bolas are shot there's a greater chance at hitting my target-" he's cut off by a frustrated Gobber.

"Don't you know-Hiccup!" The man interrupts, "If you ever want to get out there to fight dragons and to get this one.." he points back to (Y/N), "..to stop making fun of you, you need to stop all.." he gestures to Hiccup, only the problem was that he gestured to..all of him.
"..this.."

(Y/N) couldn't take it, she doubled over in laughter, cackling as she pointed to Hiccup, who looked down at himself in offensive before looking back up at Gobber, but not before sending a playful glare towards his friend. "But you just gestured to all of me!"

"Yes, that's it!" Gobber smiles, waving his hand in the air. "Stop being all of you!" (Y/N) turns towards the two, her laughter subsiding as she finally speaks up. "Oh come now!" She says, catching the two's attention. "He doesn't need to change! It's better that he's different!" Hiccup feels himself smile, nodding at his friend in thanks.

Oh suuure, sometimes she made fun of him, and laughed at him. But he knew she cared, and she always made it a point to make sure that he knew that.

"Y-you, sir, are playing a dangerous game."
Hiccup warns, waving his finger at Gobber as he walks towards him. "And keeping this much..raw..Vikingness..contained? There will be consequences!" He says, but Gobber didn't spare him a glance.

"I'll take my chances." The man replies in a bored tone. He grabs a sword, shoving it twitch the boy.

"Sword, sharpen, now."

Hiccup grunts, taking the sword over to a table and begins to sharpen it.

"One day, I'll get out there.."He glares in determination as sparks fly from the blade. "Because killing a dragon... Is everything around here."

...

Deadly Nadders begin to swoop down, landing on the roofs of houses and squealing at the flock of sheep. They had spikes going down to the tip of their tails, the horns on their faces deadly as they are pretty.

"A Nadder head is sure to get me at least noticed."

Further down, large round dragons, with small welts begin to fire at a few weapon stands, burping slightly as they do.

Their wings were much to small for their bodies, but they managed to fly off the ground. One of the dragons bites down into a stand, grumbling as it flies off, taking the stand with it.

"Gronckles are tough, taking down one of those would definitely earn me some respect."

A few feet away from the nadders, a long necked dragon quickly pulls their neck into a window of a house, spewing a green gas into it.

"A Zippleback?"

Another head loops around the side, breaking the door down. Small sparks fly from its mouth, causing the green gas to explode in flames.

The dragon flies off, revealing that it was in fact, a dragon with two heads, one large horn on each of their noses.

"Exotic, two heads, twice the status.."

"They found the sheep!" A man yells to Stoick, the chief curses under his breath m, but nods none the less. "Concentrate fire over the lower bank!" He barks an order, making his men nod and get to work.

"Fire!" Someone yells, and the catapult launced a boulder, striking down a Nadder that was prepared to steal a sheep.

"And then there's the Monstrous Nightmare.."

Stoick gasps softly, on full alert as a shadow flies past him.

"Only the best Vikings go after those.."

He looks down quickly, staring at the blazing fire below him.

"They have this..nasty habit of setting themselves on fire."

A big, red dragon shoots from the flames, it's whole body consumed by fire. It puffs out a cloud of smoke towards the Chief, some men screaming and backing away. "Reload!" Stoick firmly says, making them nod with uncertainty. "I'll take care of this." He grunts, smirking as he holds up his hammer.

He brings it down on the dragon, grunting as he hits the creature several more times.

"But the ultimate prize is the dragon no one's ever seen."

The Monstrous Nightmare looks up in alarm, whimpering and flying away. Stoick watches, confused as he stares up at the night sky, an echoing vibration rings through the air, almost everyone goes stiff at the familiar sound.

Hiccup stops at the sound, glancing towards (Y/N) before looking up.

"And we call it.."

...

"Night Fury!" Someone screams, everyone screaming and ducking, "Get down!" They all duck immediately as a blast is shot is fired behind them, another one sounding a few feet away.

Two catapults were destroyed, crumbling to the ground as everyone catches sight of a sharp shadow flying overhead. But what confused them more was another shadow, a bit larger, flowing closely behind.

"Jump!" Stoick yells, his men doing as their told and jumping off the platform, just as it's consumed by flames.

...

Hiccup stares at the sky, his breath hitching at the familiar sound.

"This thing never steals food, never shows itself, and.."

Another blast was fired, accompanied by aloud screeching sound. The flame completely destroys the catapult towers, people run away as they come crumbling down.

"Never misses. It always strikes twice, but no one knows how."

Hiccup flinches slightly, hissing softly at the sight of the destroyed towers.

"No one has ever killed a Night Fury. That's why I'm gonna be the first.."

He nods, hyping himself up and begins to walk over to his invention. Gobber takes notice, grunting as he removes his hand and removes it with a hammer.

"Man the fort Hiccup, they need me out there." He orders, glancing over at (Y/N) who was still fixing a sword. "I trust you to keep him in check, right?" He asks, the girls attention now on the two men.

"You know me.." she mumbles, quickly glancing twitch Hiccup. "..without me he would be a mess." She chuckles, the boy following suit with a small chuckle.

Gobber smiles at the two, but quickly bites it back before either could see. "Great..just, stay.." he says, slowly backing out of the door. "..there.."

"So we can't go anywhere? Like mend the tools, fan the fire..or-!" Hiccup's smart remark is cut off. "You know what I mean!" Both teens laugh as they watch the one legged man leave.

When he's out of site, (Y/N) sighs in relief, taking her hair out if it's messy bun, she turns to Hiccup with a sly grin.

"You ready?"

...

"Where are you two going?" A man demands as the boy and girl race between them. Hiccup pushes his invention between the crowd, laughing nervously.

"Yeah I know! Be right back!" (Y/N) calls, not spearing the Viking a glance as she follows after her friend.

"You two!" Someone yells from the blacksmith, both teens ignoring them as they continue forward.

...

A group if Nadders surround a heard of sheep, causing them to bleet and back away in fear. "Let's get them!" Someone calls frantically, some Vikings rushing over to help.

Stoick yells as he tosses netting over the sheep and Nadders, making them frantically spew fire. He swiftly grabs the face of a spewing Nadder, slamming its jaw shut.

"Mind yourselves!" He yells, slamming its head to the ground as it struggles. "The Devils still have some juice in them!"

...

Hiccup and (Y/N) push the invention towards a cliff side, they both pant lightly, trying to catch their breath as they finally made it to the edge.

The machine (which looked like a giant crossbow) was now on full display, ready to fire as Hiccup hit up and aimed it up. They both look to the sky, (Y/N)'s attention shifting slightly to look at the stars.

"Come on, give me something to shoot at.
Give me something to shoot off." Hiccup quietly chants, glancing at (Y/N) to make sure she's paying attention. "Eyes forward." He whispers, (Y/N) looking back at him and nodding.

A faint roar catches their attention, they both jerk their heads towards the sky,Hiccup rolling his shoulders and preparing to fire when needed. Two silhouettes can be seen in the darkness, flying side by side.

The familiar sound is heard, both teens gasping as another, more deeper roar, is heard. Hiccup quickly takes aim, blushing slightly as (Y/N) shifts closer to him, her arms pulled to her chest.

A blast was fired, causing Hiccup to yell and blindly shoot, he was tossed back from the recoil, grunting as he hits the ground.

Another bola was soon fired from the machine, flying after the other. (Y/N) rushes to his side, helping him sit up as the two watch the bolas fly through the air.

Both dragons can be heard roaring in pain, the sound echoing through the silent night. They both watch as the creatures plummet to the earth, landing somewhere deep in the woods.

(Y/N) stares wide eyed, her mouth slowly pulling into a smile as she looks down at Hiccup. "You..you bloody hit it!"

"I hit it.." the boy whispers, his breathing now slowed down as he begins to grin. "Yes! I hit it!" He hollers, (Y/N) laughing a she pulls him off the ground. "That was awesome! You saw that?!" He asks (Y/N), laughing breathlessly with his hands in his hair.

"Did anyone else see that?!"

He wasent exactly expecting a response, but much to his disappointment, he got one. A low growl sounded from behind him, both teens turning around and being faced with a very annoyed looking Monstrous Nightmare.

"..except for you.."

Hiccup quickly discards his invention, grabbing (Y/N)'s wrist and pulling her along as they both begin to run away, the giant dragon hot on their heels.

Back in the village, Stoick looks up at the sound of a loud roar. He watches in disbelief as Hiccup and (Y/N) run down a hill...well more like (Y/N) running and carrying Hiccup bridle style.

(half because he was running very slow...the other half because he enjoyed being in her arms..even if death was right behind them.)

He groans in annoyance, sighing before turning towards the Nadders with a harsh glare.

"Don't let them escape!"

...

(Y/N) grunts, still trying to keep a steady pace with her best friend clinging onto her. "Hands out of face please!" She yells, Hiccup apologizing quickly, bringing his arms away from her face and around her neck.

She runs behind a large pillar, her back presses against it as she pulls Hiccup to her chest, the boy shutting his eyes tightly and burying his face into her neck as fire was shot from behind the pillar, creating a wall of fire next to the two.

The fire subsides, both teens panting heavily as they peek from behind the pillar, (Y/N) completely forgetting that Hiccup was in her arms. The Monstrous Nightmare rounds the pillar, making quick strides towards the two frightened teens.

Thankfully, before they became barbecued, Stoick jumped forward, punching the dragon square in the face, he rolls out the way just as the beast snaps his jaw at him.

The Chief adjusts his helmet, glaring daggers at the dragon as it gets back up. It tries to spew flames, but only a few sparks come out, Stoick smirks mockingly at the dragon, shaking his head and tilting it to the side. "Your all out.."

He rolls his shoulders, delivering a swift punch to the dragon's snout, hurling it towards the floor. He kicks it in the face, the beast jerking away with a sniff. The Chief continues his assault, small specks of blood flying from the dragons mouth.

Eventually the dragon backed away, flying away and rejoining the rest of the dragons.

"Oh, and there's..one more thing you need to know."

Stoick sighs, rolling his head as he turns towards the Scott he's pillar. He watches blankly as it crumbles away, falling down and revealing two very nervous teenagers. He raises a brow as he stares at the boy, still in the girls arms.

"Heyyyy Stoick.." (Y/N) tries to play it cool, sending a wavering smile towards her Chief. It falls once she notices that his attention wasn't on her, but on the boy who was still clinging onto her.

Hiccup quickly scrambles out of her arms, hitting the ground with a thud. He averts his attention to the floor, then to his shoes...just anywhere but the eyes of the man infront him.

"Sorry...dad.."
