Meeting the Family
THALIA ELIE BENNET IS TIRED. She got home yesterday at the peak of midnight because she had a feeling, a feeling of upcoming death, and death found its other victim.
"Last night, another body was found at the back of an alleyway near Cosco. The police suspected the suspect found their victim by their facial features, the following long brown hair, brown eyes, thick eyebrows, round shape face, and a height of 5'9, and most importantly, a woman. They also said that the suspect carved out their victim's heart, they tried searching the near riverbank but found none, they were working on the supposition that last week's death was also related to this one, reporting from CNN news Rebecca Crow."
Thalia listens to the news with a grimace. She found the body without a heart, again, she couldn't help but say she was very much mortified, she hid that time, the police would suspect that finding another body was suspicious and Carlisle was waiting for her that night.
She thought that moving here to Manhattan, New York, would give her a quiet and peaceful life, not death following her around whatever city she goes to.
Sipping her morning coffee, she couldn't help but think that maybe she was the main reason those murders were happening before she arrived here. Manhattan is busy as usual, but not many murders are happening. She also has the same features as the victims, and she sees it with her own eyes. They are scarily similar.
A knock on her apartment door burst her out of her disturbing thoughts. Walking slowly, she peeked towards the small hole in her door and noticed a familiar blonde hair on the other side of the door. With a smile and she happily greets Carlisle.
"Good morning, Carlisle," Thalia greets as she gives him a peck on the cheek. The man chuckles and hands her a paper bag, "I would guess you didn't have a proper breakfast?" Thalia nods and leads him toward the kitchen, and starts eating.
"How are you since last night?" Carlisle asks gently, and he knows that witnessing death every week is not a normal thing to happen.
"Not that I haven't seen before," Thalia replies with a sigh and continues, "Have you seen the news?" Carlisle nodded and was about to talk; however, Thalia began hers. "The victim's and I's facial features are similar. What do you think?"
"I've examined the bodies. It is similar, the same age as well," Carlisle says while pursing his lips. He couldn't help but worry for Thalia. Maybe he should go with her if she has one of those gut feelings of death.
"And here I am thinking that I'll have a normal life. Well, being a banshee isn't normal. I should've known better," Thalia sighs while slouching in her seat, "Now there might be a murderer after me."
"We shouldn't get ahead of ourselves. Maybe it's just a strange coincidence" Carlisle tries to calm her down, and it is working. Thalia thankfully smiles at him while leaning on his shoulder as the blonde man wraps his arm around her shoulder and combs her brown hair.
"My grandmother says that my ability is a gift. I think it's a curse," Thalia mutters as she buries her head on his chest, "It's been 15 years, and I still can't get used to it."
"No one can get used to death," Carlisle tells her while hugging her body and placing his chin on top of her head.
"You don't have to worry about your safety as long as I'm here."
"Can you drive me to the university tomorrow?" Thalia asks while looking up at him, and Carlisle nods. "Sure, love, I'll head to the hospital tomorrow after."
"When will I meet your family?" Thalia asks curiously. She has been wanting to meet his family or coven a day after he told her everything.
"We can meet them now if you would like?" Carlisle questions with a gentle smile. Thalia nods excitedly as she removes his hold from her and heads to her room. Minutes later, she's already dressed.
Exiting her apartment building, she's suddenly nervous. What if they don't like her for Carlisle? Or what if they aren't nice to her?
Carlisle held her hand as they drove to his home, which was in Manhattan's private homes, and they arrived at their destination, and she couldn't help but feel in awe at the sight of their family house.
It looks extravagant, rich, and honestly amazing, "Esme is an architect, and her husband is an engineer. They always plan our house when we move," Carlisle says as he looks at Thalia, who is gawking at the house.
Alice greets them with a wave of her hand and a large smile, and skips towards them, and takes hold of Thalia's hand. "I saw your decision, and I already informed the family. They're in the living room."
Alice drags her towards the house, leaving Carlisle behind, and Thalia sees six people, one with caramel hair and a heart-shaped face.
Beside her is a man with rich brown skin and a lean muscled body, a blonde woman who looks like a goddess and a model on the cover girl magazine, and a man with copper hair with a smile on his face and beside him is a man with black hair and a playful grin on his face, lastly, she sees a honey-blonde man with a lean body, in a stance of a soldier.
"It's great to finally meet you, Thalia," The woman with caramel hair greets as she puts her hand on Thalia's back and faces her family. "This is my husband Christopher Davis-Cullen, Rosalie, Edward, Emmett, and Jasper, and you already met Alice."
"Our other coven mate is traveling the world. You'll see her soon," Alice chirps as she looks at Rosalie, who gives her a nod. "My wife only stays with us for a few years and travels after that," Rosalie tells her, and Thalia nods.
"It's nice to see you all. Carlisle has a wonderful family, a big one at that," Thalia says to them, and she couldn't help but feel joyous, but as an only child can be lonely at times.
"And you're family," Emmett says with a smirk as Thalia laughs gleefully.
"Your mind has a lot of voices," Edward speaks for the first time, and Jasper gives him a look "Good first impression, brother."
"That's my ancestors," Thalia answers him. "They are a little shock this house, not an insult, reeks of death."
"Well, we are already dead. You'll get used to it since you'll be spending a lot of time with us," Christopher says with a chuckle, and Alice excitedly "Let's get to know each other, shall we?"
After hours of talking, Thalia learned their history. Carlisle turned Edward first during the Spanish Influenza in 1901, second; he turned Christopher when he joined the battle of New Orleans, thirdly; Esme when she was at the hospital of her attempt of taking her own life, which they let Esme tell Thalia her story, fourthly; Rosalie, which they also let her tell Thalia, that she was left in an alleyway of five men, fifthly; a bear almost killed Emmett.
Lastly, Alice and Jasper were changed by a nomad, Alice waking up from her transition alone, not remembering anything and Jasper being third in command in an army at the time of the Civil War or so the vampire community knows as the Southern Vampire Wars and was lead by Maria and her second in command, Jasper's fiancé.
After that, the family hunted as Carlisle drove her home to her apartment.
