𝖝. Green Is Jealousy's Color
𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐏𝐓𝐄𝐑 𝐓𝐄𝐍:
Green is jealousy's color
(1984)
"JEALOUSY IS A NASTY TRAIT TO HAVE, BROTHER." Klaus Mikaelson muses as he watches his brother, Elijah, with a tight jaw and his fist clenched, still straightened back and foot on the ground as he's stopping himself from ripping the arms that were around Genesis's shoulder, his grim feature as if he was ready to commit a bloody mass murder.
"Indeed, it is, Niklaus," Elijah replies in a husky tight, yet taunting voice. Klaus scrunches his face with the pronunciation of his full name.
Elijah, the ever-so-formal.
Then Klaus gives him a raised eyebrow, and he grins, making Elijah more annoyed at him than he already was.
"Whatever it is, you need to say, Niklaus. I dare you to say it now while I have my patience." Elijah tells him with a stoic look, gritting his teeth, his eyes set on his brother with no emotion in his irises.
He is keeping his emotion at bay, preventing himself from lashing out and committing a rash and careless decision.
"This is your fault, you know? You have no one else to blame for your actions, and now you are dealing with the consequences." Niklaus begins his lecture.
Feeling proud, usually, it was him who was listening with an irritated look, but now Elijah was the one who looked like he wanted to put a dagger in Klaus' chest, it was pretty frightening, sure, but he shrugged it off and held his head high with confidence as he looked back at Genesis and her new lover who was strolling at the park with an ice cream in hand.
"I am very much aware of my mistake, brother. No need to rub it in my face." Elijah grumbles out, and Niklaus hides a smile creeping towards his face.
This is fun, he muses to himself.
Taunting Elijah is fun. Maybe he should do it more often now that he knows how Elijah will react, especially when it comes to Genesis.
"Now you are jealous of her new lover? Remember that you were the one who pushed her into his arms. Her mind might have forgotten Elijah, but her heart did not, she's seeking for your love, and she found it in the wrong person." Niklaus points out, and Elijah's jaw tightens as he goes still. His mind is running, working gears in his head.
He has no right to be jealous, not when he almost committed a sin—an act of trying to forget Genesis Ackerman.
But she's genuinely and undoubtedly unforgettable, and his every thought was consumed by her.
Every waking moment he thought of nothing but her.
His world revolved around her, and now her world revolved around someone else.
This is immense torture, the feeling of heartbreak, goodness, he felt like dying all over again.
Niklaus looks back at his brother with pity.
He always believed that love is a weakness, but after he saw Elijah and Genesis–together they were powerful and unstoppable, a force of nature, they were stronger together.
But as Klaus watched his brother's heart crumble and shatter.
Klaus didn't want to feel that kind of ache and pain at all.
Though he might admit that his brother, the one he always thought was the intelligent sibling, made the stupidest decision, and worst, he aided him in doing so, he was just as stupid as Elijah was.
Bloody hell, Klaus admits that he even missed Genesis.
Their endless banter, friendly rivalry, and pettiness.
He couldn't help but recall when he made her mad, and she, in return, compelled a human to be a serial killer.
Genesis Ackerman compelled a human to be a serial killer that terrorized New Orleans for ten years—the most notorious and uncaught serial killer in New Orleans, and now is now part of the unsolved murders in history.
Their pettiness is what bonded them together.
"It's better to love her from a distance." Elijah suddenly says as he purses his lips, then continues.
"She is safer without us, and even you cannot deny that, Niklaus." Elijah glances at his brother then his eyes are set again in Genesis's direction. Now they are seated on a park bench, with Genesis' head on her lover's shoulder.
Elijah releases a painful sigh.
He has no right.
No right to be angry.
No right to be jealous.
Elijah chanted to himself.
"Of course, she is safe. I made sure of it." Niklaus scoffs as he rolls his eyes.
Mikael was on a hunt for Genesis for a while, trying to find her so that when she is in his possession, he can use her as leverage for Elijah and then for Niklaus.
Elijah and Niklaus contacted one of the most powerful covens in the world.
The Rivera Coven.
A coven of Filipino witches, the most powerful coven in Asia at best.
They come to an agreement. They tie their loyalty to Niklaus and do his bidding.
In return, he gives them the financial aid they need and protects their bloodline to ensure that every generation of their bloodline is protected from other witches.
"Send my gratitude to Theodore," – Elijah pertains to the head of the Rivera Coven, "His aid is certainly appreciated."
Not only that they casted a powerful cloaking spell on Genesis, but it also extends to helping Niklaus break his curse, finding the moonstone, and to look for another doppelganger.
And when the time comes, one of the Rivera witches will help him break his curse.
Niklaus just nods.
It isn't just the Rivera Coven protecting Genesis.
"What is your plan, Elijah?" Klaus asks with a frustrated sigh, combing his hair back, sitting on the bench with his legs spread apart while the other tapped the pavement continuously.
Elijah closes his eyes for a second then he breathes out heavily as if the world weighed him down.
"I don't know."
Klaus hides his shock with a scowl. Fucking hell. He thought to himself. Elijah Mikaelson always had a plan, but it seems that Genesis Ackerman is clouding his thoughts like a thunderstorm.
Klaus frustratedly stood up, grabbing Elijah's shoulder, his tight grip. "You will fix this, Elijah. You are only making this hard for yourself."
Elijah harshly removes Klaus' hands from his shoulders, moving away from him, and pacing. "And? What of Mikael? If he is still walking on this earth, I refuse to bring back her memories."
"Then we bring him down together!" Klaus whispered yells, throwing his arms around the air like a madman.
"And if we fail? I won't let Genesis be collateral damage." Elijah stubbornly refuses.
"If you won't do anything. I will." Niklaus threatens as he takes a step forward toward Elijah, then Elijah looks at him, taking a slow step toward him.
"You will not do anything," Elijah warns.
Suddenly, Klaus was at his back. Then he felt a stabbing pain in his chest as the dagger pierced his heart.
Elijah painfully gasped.
His skin started to turn gray as veins crawled up Elijah's skin.
"Well, you have no say in the matter now, do you, brother?"
