"So, let's settle this once and for all." Virgil tapped his pencil to the notebook, accentuating every word. Roman nodded, his leg bouncing up and down(in excitement, in anxiety?)

"The ground rules are : no romantic activities outside of our friends and your family, holding hands is acceptable, kissing only if necessary, we both know our boundaries."

Roman sighed : "This isn't going to end well, is it?"

Virgil shrugged, pinching his nose. "Well, it's all for the best, right? I've dealt with homophobia my whole life, so I don't think you grandparents will frighten me."

"You don't know how they are-" Roman was cut short by Virgil taking his hands in his own, squeezing them.

"Roman, look at me. " he complied "It'll be okay. I wouldn't have helped you if I didn't believe that."

"What have I done to deserve such a friend like you?" Roman asked, even though the word friend shot a shard through his heart.

Seeing Virgil giggle made it worth it. "You tripped over me and called me nicknames, that's what."

Roman huffed, recalling the first time they had met. "We bumped into each other! And I didn't know your name!"

"Whatever makes you sleep at night, princey."

Virgil let go of his hands, leaving a cold empty feeling behind.

"Oh before I forget! No falling for each other!"

Roman was thankful for the acting classes he had taken across the years, as he simply grinned : "Won't be a problem!"

Truthfully, there was a problem.

What was that, you may ask?

Roman was already in love with Virgil
