warnings : drinking, talks of death, anxiety

Not for the first time in his existence, Virgil regretted everything.

The other sides had somehow managed to convince him that, hey, maybe Thomas going to a party and getting wasted was an awesome idea, so why not do it? Granted, they never told him about the second part, but still he doesn't know how they managed.

(It might've had something to do with a certain romantic side being the one to convince him and Virgil was only so strong.)

Virgil was quickly pulled back into the present as Thomas took another shot. He groaned as he felt his self control once again slip away from him.

You see, Thomas is the type of person who throws Anxiety out of a window after a few drinks, so now Virgil was doubling his efforts into stopping him, because oh god, there were so many bad things the could happen if Thomas stopped listening. He could get into fights and he would obviously do a dare if he was asked to, so he could jump off a building and die!

Virgil took in a deep breath trying to calm himself. He just needed to concentrate on getting Thomas to stop drinking so neither of them would loose control. That seemed about right.

It did not work.

Thomas took another sip of his drink and Virgil felt a bit lighter.

"Damn you, Thomas. Why can't you listen to me?" he mumbled, recoiling into himself.

So, of course, Roman of all people came banging on his door right at his time.

"Virgil!" he sung, making the side in question smile ever so slightly. "May I come in?"

Virgil was almost tempted to say yes, before coming back to his senses and gasping out a weak : "Go away, Princey!"

There were a few seconds silence on the other side of the door and Virgil thought Roman had given up and left him alone.

"...Virge? Are you alright in there?"

Virgil cursed under his breath. "Yep, I'm good"

Well, good wasn't exactly the word Virgil would use for his state. Now he had two problems on his head : getting Roman to leave him be and Thomas to stop drinking, because otherwise, they were both done for.

"You don't sound alright. I'm coming in, whether you like it or not!"

Virgil's eyes widened as the door to his room burst open, Roman triumphantly standing in the doorway, his prized katana in hand, in a fighting stance. He smiled when he saw Virgil, waving away the sword and sitting down on the bed next to him.

"You are alright!"

Virgil's whole concentration crumbled at the display of such gentleness and care after the recklessness with which Roman kicked the door down.

"Yeah, I am." Virgil managed to finally say, his voice slightly shaky.

Roman frowned : "Does this have anything to do with the party?" he asked, head tilted slightly, hand moving up to brush under Virgil's eyes.

Ah, his eyeshadow had changed.

"What colour is it?"

Roman took a few seconds to answer : "It's a really dark purple, one could say it's almost metallic..."

Virgil made a little 'oh' sound.

"What does it mean?"

Virgil bit the inside of his cheek. "So, you know when Thomas gets drunk, he kinda lets go of anxiety, right?"

Roman looked at him for a few seconds. "Yes."

Virgil let out a breath : "When that happens, he also rids me of my anxiety, which is really ironic you know, and it just goes downhill from there."

Roman blinked twice at him, moving a bit closer. "And that's bad because..."

"Well, because I stop doing my job for one and I become more... confident?"

The other huffed, amused : "Why would you being confident be a bad thing?" asked Roman because Roman doesn't understand context clues.

Virgil groaned, fiddling with the strings to his hoodie. "Well, maybe because I wouldn't have anything to stop me from doing stupid shit!"

Thomas took another sip and Virgil felt all worries and doubts running from his mind, leaving him free of any restraints.

"And what sort of 'stupid shit' would you do?" Roman asked, clearly enjoying this way too much from the look on his face.

Virgil finally looked at him and his mind was filled with nothing but the prince. Roman. Roman and his laugh, that sounded ridiculously like bells. Roman and his eyes, the way they shone when he was happy.

"Well, for starters-" Virgil moved closer to Roman, pressing a hand on his chest, making the other's eyes widen slightly "I would do this." He pushed him so he was laying on the bed, Virgil on top of him.

"And then I would kiss you." he whispered and he felt Roman's heart thundering against his fingertips. He smirked to himself then turned to look Roman in the eye. "Can I?"

An out of breath "yes" from Roman was all the encouragement Virgil needed before pressing his lips against his much more softly than he had intended.

Roman practically melted against him, one of his hands tangling in Virgil's hair, the other gripping his shoulder and bringing him closer. Virgil smiled against his lips, earning a small sigh of contentment from Roman that sent sparks through him.

They separated, slightly out of breath and if Virgil hadn't been inclined to continue kissing him until he was breathless, he sure was now, because Roman looked absolutely destroyed, with swollen lips and bright eyes.

"God, you're so beautiful." words were pouring out of Virgil's mouth, without him managing to process them, but he didn't have a chance to regret them, as Roman's face colored a pretty pink, making every tiny freckle on his cheeks stand out like a spotlight.

"Virgil" he hissed, squeezing his shoulder and avoiding eye contact by turning his head.

Virgil huffed, burying his face against Roman's neck, dragging his nose softly against the column of his throat. Roman let out a soft noise, a hybrid between a gasp and groan.

"Does my prince like it when I tell him just how beautiful he is?" asked Virgil, pressing a kiss to his neck. "How good he is?"

Roman whimpered at those words, the hand in Virgil's hair tightening. "Yes" he gasped out, straining his neck further so Virgil had more access to it. "Please keep saying that"

Virgil grinned against the sensitive skin, pressing another kiss in the exact same spot earning a shaky exhale from the other. He languidly pressed small kisses, moving down, until he came to the junction between his shoulder and his neck, where he bit down gently, causing Roman to let out a soft breathy noise that Virgil thought was the most beautiful sound in the world.

Roman gave a small laugh : "I, for one, am very glad that you can do 'stupid shit' right now"

Virgil huffed against his skin. This man was going to be the death of him.

But, then again, who was he to complain?
