also this will have three parts, so-
It was a slow, almost arduous process, through which Logan dearly wished to bang his head against the wall.
Unfortunately, he couldn't do that, so he had to be content with suffering through Roman and Virgil's obliviousness in regards to their obvious romantic feelings for one another.
Th first hint that they were - directly quoting Patton - smitten with one another, was dropped on a calm, late autumn day, at around 6 pm, if he remembered correctly.
Virgil was sat next to him on the brick wall, scrolling on his phone, occasionally perking up and saying something, interrupting the comfortable silence most of their interactions had(after several conversations with him, Logan had to admit, sitting on counters or brick walls, when a chair was right next to you was a rebellious feeling of sorts and he did enjoy it in some part)
Logan heard a notification from Virgil's phone, as he whipped his head around to see who it was from (you see, they were meant to meet up with Roman and Patton half an hour ago). The bar slid down from the screen, revealing a message from Roman (or 'princey' as he was written down in Virgil's phone).
princey
Greetings, Emo Nightmare! Patton and I will shortly be with you and Specs. Pat insisted to stop by the Bakery and grab some pastries!
Logan sighed. Of course they had stopped by the bakery. He looked at Virgil who was smiling widely, t-
He halted, frowning. Virgil? Smiling at a text? That seemed strangely out of character. Shouldn't he be used to Roman's texts by now?
you
hurry up, we're gonna freeze out here
Logan opened his mouth, but quickly shut it. Why was Virgil sending such an indifferent, almost spiteful text, when he couldn't refrain himself from grinning at Roman's mere contact name?
princey
I'm sure you'll be just fine! x
A quick look at Virgil secured Logan's idea that something was definitely strange in his behaviour.
He decided to brush it off.
The second hint, was a few weeks after, at a movie night in Virgil's apartment. They were all around the couch, watching Big hero 6, after Logan had confessed it was his favourite. Patton was laying on the couch, Logan on top of him, his head comfortably laid on his chest. Roman was on the armchair, one of Virgil's hoodies draped across his shoulders (he said he was cold, and the latter threw it at him).
Virgil got up, claiming he had to go to the kitchen, to make some more popcorn. Roman's gaze followed him until the door was shut, letting out a breath. He looked over at Logan, who averted his gaze quickly.
Then Roman did something Logan would think of as weird (then again, he found arson perfectly acceptable if backed up by the correct motives, so he couldn't judge). He slipped on the hoodie(which hang loosely over his body, him and Virgil's height difference probably to blame), a wide grin on his face. Roman brought the hood up over his head and ran his fingers over the strings with a lovesick look in his eyes.
He seemed to be enjoying wearing a friends hoodie far more than he should've.
Again, suspicious, but Logan let it slide.
The third hint was what secured Logan's suspicions. Unfortunately, this time, Patton wasn't there to back him up in any way.
It was a few months after the latter hints, so Logan had had some time to think.
This time, it was early spring and he was taking a walk with Roman (he insisted on seeing the trees in their full bloom). Logan had zoned out Roman's loud voice, not having the power today to listen to his over the top rants that day.
Logan halted when Roman stopped talking, frowning at the sudden occurance. He looked at his companion, even more confused at his stunned expression. He looked in front only to see...Virgil.
Of course.
What was so special about Virgil that day? Logan raised an eyebrow, observing the view in front of him.
He was sat on a bench, his white earphones constrasting his freshly dyed purple hair. He was barely mouthing the words to the song he was probably listening to and his foot was bouncing along with the rythm.
Oh, he was also wearing a skirt, purple eyeshadow instead of his usual black and the sunlight fell just right on his features, but that was unimportant right now.
What was important was the expression Roman was wearing at that moment. A combination of stunned, happy and curious.
That was the same way Remus looked at Janus(they are dating, and, again quoting Patton, smitten with one another)
And that's when it all clicked.
Roman was in love with Virgil.
Virgil was in love with Roman.
Normally Logan wouldn't have a problem with that, but neither of them seemed aware of their own feelings, nonetheless the other's.
"This is bound to be fun" he mumbled to himself
