✷ SERGIO MARQUINA is Mariana's father, and her best friend. Despite the fact that he raised her away from the world, he still made sure to teach her everything he knew. Growing up, she was his shadow- following him everywhere she could, acting like him. Mariana truly idolized her father, and she'd be lying if she said she didn't anymore. Despite the fact that she's grown up, she's still close to her father. You can find her standing next to him when it gets too loud, with her hands cupped over her ears.
✷ ANDRES DE FONOLLOSA is Mariana's Tio, and she's sure he's the coolest person she's ever met. Despite being a fleeting presence, he makes every time seeing him memorable- spoiling her with gifts, carrying her around his house on his shoulders, and singing for her until she dozes off in her bed. Even in the heist, he made careful moves to protect her from behind closed doors and outside of them. Berlin may be an awful person, but he'd drop everything for his niece.
✷ ADRIANA MARQUINA is the closest thing Mariana had to a mother. The only woman figure in her life, who she learned everything practical from. How to braid her hair, make her bed, and pick locks- how to steal from drugstores and the mall. Adriana is Mariana's idol, and one of the only people who can get through to her when she's ranting about something.
✷ AGATA JIMENEZ enables Mariana. While the others sigh when she opens her mouth, Nairobi is eager to hear whatever words are ready to come out. Her weird facts about the human body, the world around them- Nairobi wants to hear it all, at any given moment. Often pats the girl on the head and tells her she's smart once everyone leaves the room.
✷ CAROLINE MARQUES matches Mariana's freak, so to say. Both intelligent women who cannot stop thinking for the life of them, it makes sense that they'd get along. Mariana often shares tidbits of information about her father with Caroline, and isn't afraid to rant to her or look over Caroline's constant numbers and possibility in order to help her make sense of it all.
BACKSTORY.
Mariana Marquina was an accident. Everyone knows it- The Professor and his girlfriend were only twenty, hardly even liked each other; they were just both attractive, lonely people who found themselves at the wrong time. They tried to make it work, they really did, but they didn't like each other enough. Marcela disappeared on Mariana's first birthday, and never returned. Sergio was left to raise the baby alone, while also planning the rest of his life that was filled with crime and violence. Because of this, Mariana was raised... untraditionally. She's never stepped foot inside of a school, but spent all her time inside the library, doing the workbooks her father and aunt assigned her. Despite all this, Mariana was a genius- by fifth grade, she was at an eleventh grade learning level. When she was twelve, she discovered her father's plans for a heist and Sergio knew he couldn't hide it anymore. After all, he had wanted to be the father of a thief.
