Dawn froze.  "Dew?" She asked. 

"Dawn? What're you doing here?" Dawn's grip on the armored dragon faltered. 

"DAWN!" That was Flutterwing, rushing towards me. 

"I got... I... I'm here?" Dawn stammered. "Honestly I don't know why I'm here. Do you know?" 

The group of dragons moved over to Dawn, who was sitting on the dragon, one foot placed on his head, holding him to the ground. From behind her, Clock stepped out hesitantly, followed by Pomegranate. 

"Sh-" Beetle cursed from behind them. Orange tore out from behind the bush and somersaulted into the open. 

"Is that?" Flutterwing whispered breathlessly. Leaving the rest of her question unsaid. "Is that- is it her?" 

"Yes." Dawn didn't have to say anything more. Flutterwing expertly scooped up the wiggling dragonet and hugged her. Pomegranate rushed over and joined the hug.

Orange melted into her mother's arms, and she stayed that way for a really long time. "Hey! Back to work!" The dragon on the watch tower bellowed, seeming to have not noticed the living machine, dragonet, BeetleWing, or his comrade being held at gunpoint. 

"How dare you mess with this family reunion, coward! If you're so powerful, then come speak to our faces!" Beetle taunted. 

Shaking with rage, the armored dragon spread his wings. "You lazy, insignificant fools. You can't even use your tribal advantages. And yet you think you can beat me?" 

Dawn turned toward her sister, who was playfully tossing her dragonet into the air. She was wearing wrist cuffs that covered her silk glands. Then she turned towards one of the RainWings, who promptly opened her mouth. 

She was wearing some sort of sheath over her fangs, stopping her from using her venom. Dawn rolled her eyes. She hated how overconfident all of these guards were. 

The guard landed in front of Beetle and smirked. The BeetleWing smiled innocently back at him, her face laced with so much fake sweetness that it was terrifying. She opened her mouth slightly, just enough for her fangs to overlap over her front lip. 

Then her jaw unhinged, and two perfectly round beads of black venom landed just underneath the dragon's eyes. "Oops." She said innocently as the dragon fell, writhing in pain. 

Dawn turned toward Dewdrop. "Did they cover your fangs?" She asked. "Do you even have venom?" 

The green dragon grinned at her, revealing perfect, uncovered fangs. "No to both of those. I don't have venom. I have acid."

Dawn laughed. That was something Dew would say. "Wait, really?"

"Yup!" Dewdrop said innocently. "You didn't know?"

Dawn rolled her eyes. "No silly."

"Halt! Halt in the name of Snappea!"

"Here comes trouble," Clock whispered in Dawn's ears. He had just been standing there, watching Flutterwing with an unreadable expression.

Dawn turned and looked at the swarm of golden-armored dragons coming toward her.

"Quick!" She said urgently. "Clock, do you know a way to get out of here?"

He shook his head with a mechanical clicking sound. "I'm sorry, the only way out would be to create another portal. But we don't have Shadow Shards."

"Alright, get ready to fight," with that, she turned and addressed the rest of the group. "Everyone, try to get the restraints they put on you off. Remember, protect Orange and Flutterwing. There has to be a way out, we just have to stall them until we find it."

"Hey, I can fight!" Flutterwing protested, before being hit by another wave of pain. Orange stared up at her mother with eyes full of concern.

"Exactly." This was the first time Dawn had heard one of the other RainWings speak. 

"Forgive me if this is rude, but what's your name?" she asked.

The pale orange RainWing stared at her. "My name's Mango and this is Chamomile."

Dawn's eyes widened. "But- but you're Snappea's own dragonets!" She said in shock, remembering that night in the tunnel

The orange dragon stared at her with cold, hard eyes. "That dragon is no mother of ours."

The first of the golden dragons reached them, and everything dissolved into chaos. Dawn lashed out at the first dragon she reached. Her claws bounced harmlessly off of his armor. The only effective method against these dragons was her venom.

She realized that the dragons were pressing them into a tight, defensive circle around Orange and Flutterwing. "Push forward!" she yelled, even though it was starting to look hopeless.

There was a cry, and a golden dragon in the back let out a scream and fell down beneath a burst of flame. A SkyWing entered the fray, followed by two RainWings, an IceWing, and a SandWing.

Two SeaWings penetrated the mob from a different direction. Dragons of all sizes and tribes were joining the throng, finally gaining enough courage to stand up to the golden-dressed dragons that had oppressed them for so long.

There was a roar and a big dragon charged into the battle. Someone had let it the big dragons of wherever they were being held.

"Reinforcements!" A golden dragon bellowed. The big dragon leaned down and picked him up like a rag doll, her jaws smoking as her teeth sank through the melting armor. Dawn let out a cry of relief and found herself moving towards this dragon.

How she had ended up in the forest was beyond her, but this was a familiar dragon. She had even been given a nickname by Dawn's subconscious. "UV!" She cried, causing the huge scarlet dragon to glance down at her.

"What does that stand for?" Pomegranate called from where she was beating back a group of golden dragons.

"Unnecessary Violence," Dawn explained, yelling over the noise of the crowd.

A golden dragon pounced on Dawn, bringing her head to the ground. She snarled, lashing out at the dragon above. The dragon didn't budge. "Payback!" He hissed.

Suddenly he let out a strangled gasp as UV battered him away, bearing her teeth. Smoke coiled from her mouth as she snarled. She tossed him away into the throng like he was nothing more than a pebble before turning and continuing to fight.

Dawn grinned. "Thanks, UV, owe you one."

Another dragon was edging into the throng. It looked like Clock, but it was painted a pale blueish green. It moved up right behind Pomegranate, then snatched her and began dragging her away, ignoring her struggles.

"POMEGRANATE!!!!!!!" Dawn screamed, launching herself after the metal dragon.
