The stall was weird.
ย To say the least.ย
It was a deep purple silk cave, a hump. It was also at the very back, pressed against the cold metal wall of the pipe, where it would be effortless to miss it.ย
But it indeed held one's attention if you were to find it. Thin, white threads hung over the only opening, each was covered in individually carved beads. The beads were made of bone, wood, and stone. There were even a few metal and glass ones.ย
Hanging from the top of the purple silk, there was a white sign, with bold red letters painted on it. THE SEER.
Underneath that, was a pair of eyes. Two, deep purple globes, flecked with other colors. They each hung from a thin metal chain. On the outsides, there were two more chains. attached to those chains was another, smaller sign.
SHE FINDS ALL THOSE YOU SEEK.
Dawn glanced at Beetle to confirm that, yes indeed, they had found their destination. She nodded and turned to Pomegranate. "I'm sorry, but The Seer doesn't like dragonets,"
Pomegranate nods.
"That's fine... I guess... I'll just wait out here then..."
Dawn's heart wrenched. It felt like Pomegranate was being taken away from her. How had it all gone so wrong?
Just a few days ago, she had been sitting in her usual spot in the cave, waiting for Flutterwing to return from her routine visit with Bamboo. Now everything wasn't the same, and they were struggling through strange environments and odd circumstances to even find their friends.
"Wait, why aren't you going in?"
"Oh," Beetle said amiably. "The Seer is in with someone."
"How do you know?" Dawn asked.
"Oh, you just know things with The Seer."
A grumpy-looking dragon stormed out of the stall. The RainWing's tail lashed back and forth as it walked.
Beetle opened her mouth to say something, but Dawn put a wing over her back.
"Sometimes, you don't want to be talked to," she said.
"But-" Beetle started.
"No," Dawn said quietly. "I wonder what she was told."
Beetle sighed and disappeared into the stall. The beads rattled and clacked as the threads swung behind her.
Dawn glanced at Pomegranate and disappeared into the stall behind Beetle.
The stall was almost completely dark, lit only by a pale purple light. in the center, there was a table, on it, displayed in the center. The globe appeared to have been made out of glass, but it glowed from deep within.
It was shrouded in darkness, and a dark silhouette sat behind the globe, her claws resting on the edges. The Seer's claws looked black in the righting.
"Visitor, visitor, tell me who you seek," a voice called out of the smothering darkness.
Dawn opened her mouth to speak, but it was Beetle who spoke, giving Dawn a warning look.
"Seeker, Seeker, the dragon we speak is... um..." Beetle turned and whispered to Dawn, "Who is it you're looking for?"
Dawn took a deep breath. "Uh- Flutterwing?"
"Tribe?" Beetle asked.
"SilkWing-RainWing," Dawn confirmed.
"Seeker, Seeker, the dragon we speak is Flutterwing of the SilkWings and the RainWings."
"Mmmmm, ah yes. She is not in this corporal plane," The Seeker said. The globe began to glow, brighter and brighter until the interior of the stall was vaguely illuminated.
"The dragon you seek ceases to exist in this place of being."
Dawn blinked nervously. "Soo... What does that mean?"
"I shall help you find your sister. But that is all I can do."
"Help?" Dawn asked, her heart sinking.
"It is hard to advise you on what to do next."
"Okay," Dawn felt stupid. Of course! It was never supposed to have been this easy! She just wanted everything to get back to normal, so she could get home. But was there even a home to return to?
And get to Dewdrop... if I get to Dewdrop, then I can relax a bit, Dawn figured.
The Seeker took a thin piece of purple glass from somewhere behind her, then she began to stroke it along the edge of the globe. It glowed bright purple.
"Follow the Looking Glass's guidance, it will lead you," The Seeker instructed.
Dawn nodded, breathless.
"Is this all?" Beetle asked.
"Oh, yes," The Seeker replied. "Your hardest battles are yet to come. And one of you will be lost before it is done."
Her voice began to change like someone was speaking through her, and she leaned back, her claws retreating into the shadows.
"Come on, we should leave," Beetle said, The Seeker's last words had clearly made her nervous. "She rarely gives out prophecies anymore. So whatever coming next, it must be bad."ย
The small metallic dragon emptied her bundle and dumped out a pile of Tokens onto the table, before retreating out the door. Dawn followed, not wanting to be alone with the strange dragon.ย
Outside, she was met by a nervous Pomegranate. "Are you okay? I honestly thought you died!" She cried.ย
Orange blinked open her small, neon-yellow eyes and glanced around in confusion. "Foooood?" She asked mournfully.ย
"Alright, we'll stop and get food on our way out, tiny dragon."
Orange squirmed in Pomegranate's arms. "FoOooOooDdD?" She wailed.
"Sorry, little bug, we can't eat now," Pomegranate said apologetically.ย
Beetle shrugged. "Maybe we could, you know. We don't have any time limit."
Dawn nodded. "I like that idea," she said, her stomach growling.ย
They started walking through the streets, passing all sorts of dragons. Dawn was enjoying this place, this wild and free market deep underground in Pyrriha.
A place where dragons would like their lives.
