Shinsou and Midoriya

Third P.O.V.

Midoriya stood in front of Shinsou's door, wondering if he should knock or not. The boy hadn't come out in nearly a week and school was starting in two hours. Of course, he had taken precautions, coming early, knowing it would take some time to convince him to come to class and help him get ready.

He took a deep breath, taking all of his courage and knocked.

Once.

Twice.

Th-

The door opened before the green head could place his final knock. In the doorway was Shinsou, worse than Deku had ever seen him. He looked sleep-deprived(at least more sleep deprived than usual), his eyebags prominent and visibly shaking, barely managing to stand up, leaning on the doorframe weakly.

"...Midoriya." he nodded.

"Shinsou." he said, returning the gesture, balancing his weight from one foot to the other.

Silence.

"If there isn't anything y-" he started, closing the door. Deku placed a hand, this way stopping the door from closing. They had a slight nonverbal eye-fight, before Shinsou gave up, letting his friend inside.

The first thing that struck Midoriya as he entered the room was what state it was in. The place was a mess, clothes carelessly throw everywhere and the air was suffocating. The first thing he did was help Shinsou, who had nearly collapsed, sit down on his bed, then immediately opening the window, to let some fresh air in the room.

"When was the last time you opened the window?"

Shinsou shrugged, his eyes half unfocused, leaning on his shaking arm, for support. Midoriya looked back at him sadly.

"The last time you ate?"

The same response.

"The last time you drank water?"

Shinsou showed him two fingers. Midoriya sighed relieved.

"Two hours."

"No."

The green head's eyes widened. "Two...days?" he whispered, not wanting to hear his answer. Shinsou nodded again, to Midoriya's dissapointment.

"But, I don't need it, I've gone lo-"

"I'm gonna stop you right there! You need to eat and drink, you can't live like that!"

Shinsou didn't answer, his eyes unfocusing, staring at the wall. Midoriya sighed sadly, going up to the wardrobe, getting his school uniform, putting it in Shinsou's lap.

"Come on." Deku said, rubbing his back in a comforting manner, helping him get up. The green-haired boy helped him into the bathroom, smiling in a manner he hoped was comforting.

"I'll come back in a moment." Shinsou nodded. "Tell me if you need anything." the boy nodded again.

Deku sighed, leaving the bathroom. Shinsou wouldn't tell him if he needed anything.

He immediately grabbed his phone, searching for Shoto's number, calling it.

"Yes?"

"Oh, thank god! Sho? Please bring breakfast to Shinso's room."

There was a moment of silence. "How long?"

"I'm not sure. I just know he hasn't drunk any water in at least two days." he said, leaning against the wall, trying not to cry.

"I'll be there right away. Don't worry, Izuku. He'll be alright." Todoroki hung up, leaving Midoriya alone.

The phone stayed next to his ear for a while, before he put it back in his pocket.

It wasn't fair. None of this was. A part of him was glad that no one blamed him for this, they all told him he did everything he could to save him. That didn't stop Midoriya from feeling guilty. It didn't stop him from assuming that every glance they gave him was one of hatred. It didn't stop him from wanting to tear up whenever he saw Shinsou or Kirishima.

"They don't blame you." he whispered to himself. "You did everything you could. It's not your fault. It's not y-" he slid down, a hand over his mouth to cover any sounds that could come from it.

Who was he kidding?

They all blame him.

It was his fault.

It was all his fault.

He should've been the one to die.

He could've saved him.

It was all his fault.
