It was time to visit Diagon Alley again. I dreaded going to that place and the encounter I had with the girl last time just increased my fear. This time as I walked down the street I saw posters and banners hung up everywhere. I stopped to look at one and I realised why the posters were everywhere. Of course. It was Harry Potter's Birthday. I always wondered how unlucky I was to have a birthday so close to my father's worst enemy. It's also probably why he hated me so much. He probably hated all the people who had a birthday in the same month as Potter.
I hated Potter. But not because he was my father's sworn enemy. I hated him because every time something went wrong during my father's plan, he would come home and take it out on me. I would listen to him yell at me, feel him abuse me, and I couldn't do anything. I could only cower beneath him as he towered over me. So naturally, I hated Potter. I hate him so much. Why couldn't he let my father win for once?? Those were the thoughts I had every night during the war. Why couldn't he let my father be triumphant and let me have a night in peace? Let me have more than 3 hours of sleep during the night.
I glared at all the signs plastered on the walls. I gave them death stares, wishing they'd all wither away and let me finish my day calmly. But of course, I couldn't do that and I had to deal with the pictures of Potter staring into my soul everywhere I walked. Everyone around me was celebrating. I could tell by the smiles on their faces and their laughs as they sat with friends and talked about their recent days.
I was passing Florean Fortescue's Ice Cream Parlour when I overheard a conversation that made my fists curl.
"So glad the war is over. Don't you agree?" One man asked.
"Yeah, it's good no more trouble is happening. Imagine if, I don't know... You Know Who's secret toddler daughter made an appearance and wreaked havoc just like her father." The other replied.
"He has a secret daughter??!!"
I gritted my teeth in anger. An urge to punch one of the men in the face started to rise, but I suppressed it to avoid gaining attention.
"I'm kidding!" The second man laughed, "But imagine! A little girl running around with a fairy wand in her hand trying to destroy the world!"
The first man joined him and both laughed together. So. They think that his daughter would be an infant or toddler. I badly wanted to go up to both of them and show them what his daughter was really like, but I rethought that decision and the consequences outweighed the positives. Leaving it at that, I left the scene and spent the rest of the day trying not to scream to release my anger.Β
I was at the Eeylops Owl Emporium, once again and suddenly someone called out to me.
"Hey!"
I spun around and saw the red-headed girl from last week with someone who looked like an older brother to her. Both of them had red hair and freckles spread across their cheeks.
"It's nice to see you again!" Then she looked pointedly at the treats for Charcoal in my arms and said, "I assume you have a pet owl?"
I nodded, not trusting my voice to say anything right now.
"Who's this?" The boy was speaking now.
I looked up at him. He was fairly taller than me, and his red hair was quite noticeable. His shoulders were quite broad and he was quite stocky.
"Oh um- actually I never got your name. What is it?" the girl asked.
"I-um it's Elena. Elena R-um T-Taylor." I stuttered.
The boy stuck out his hand. "Well nice to meet you Elena Taylor!"
I cautiously grasped his hand and offered him a tight-lipped smile.
"I'm George Weasley," the boy explained, "And this is my sister. Ginny Weasley."
The Weasley family?? They were known to be associating with Potter. And Ginny! I'm pretty sure she's the one in a relationship with him!
"O-oh," I responded, unsure what to say.
"You sound so disappointed!" George chuckled, "What did you expect us to be celebrities?"
"I-I mean you kinda are?" I replied, softly.
"Well," Ginny said, "We have to get going! We'll see you around?"
I murmured an agreement.
"Oh!" George seemed to have remembered something. "Come visit Weasley Wizard Wheezes! I own the shop with my broth- um."
His expression dropped drastically. But he continued nonetheless.
"Just come take a look! And I'll probably be able to recognise you!"
George waved at me before following his sister to the counter.
I leaned back against the wall behind me, wishing to disappear from the world and never return.Β
