Third Person's POV

New Year's Eve, Kiyose City, Tokyo, Japan

Winter in Japan is dry and sunny, with temperatures that rarely drop below freezing-except for the country's northern reaches of Sapporo and the like.

Snowfall occurs the further north you go, with central Japan receiving light dustings as well. Winter in Southern Japan is mild...

Visiting Japan during New Year (Shogatsu) is a once in a lifetime experience.

It is Japan's most important National Holiday, even bigger than Christmas! It is a family affair, where everyone gets together and exchanges gifts.

There are also many tourist attractions and fun things to do. Stores and restaurants are closed so getting around may be a bit of a challenge.

New Year's Eve in Japan is not a night for crazy parties like in many countries.

Japanese people spend time with their families and enjoy traditional food, rituals, and activities. However, there are places to celebrate, especially in big cities.

The New Year's season in Japan is full of special traditions, in particular, one before the new year begins, when the Japanese look back on the past year and bid farewell to old worries as a way to start fresh.

A bonenkai, or "forget-the-year party" is an end of year party for friends and coworkers to forget the trouble and stress of the year about to finish. Lately, countdown parties have become more popular in large cities.

January 1st symbolizes joy and no obligations. Japanese homes are decorated with pine, bamboo, and plum trees to ring in the New Year.

It is customary for people to start the year by viewing the first sunrise (Hatsu-Hinode), and your Japan Rail Pass can take you wherever you decide to enjoy this tradition, believed to be representative for the whole year that has begun.

Another favorite New Year tradition is hatsumode or the first visit to a shrine or temple.

The best temples in Japan attract several million people during the first three days of January, and here, you can experience a festive climate with food and stands, and join in the crowds at the main hall praying or buying good luck charms...

"I sit and I wonder where you have been, what are you doing now?

Are you in this endless, deep blue sky, high in the clouds?..."

*******

After Yuri recovered fully she went back to her job as cabin crew. Her friends were very happy about that.

Meanwhile Kanade was also returned back to NYC but as she promised she would come back at the time of New Year. Yuri was very excited about that.

Before the day of New Year Eve Kanade and Hanako both came to visit her in Kiyose. At first Hanako felt sad for not celebrating New Year in NYC what she'd done from her childhood.

But then after hearing about Japanese cultures and traditions she was very excited for seeing how exactly the people of Tokyo celebrate New Year.

"So what's your favourite season?", Kana asked. "Um, Autumn and Spring. Those two are the most beautiful season cause that way the nature shows us how beautiful it feels to let go", Yuri replied.

"Well mine is Summer and Winter, ya those are the most among all. But the most important in Summer my lovely sunflower blooms and in Winter I got a relaxing cozzy logfire around us and like everyone come closer..."

"Cause in Summer I've met my little sunflower *cupping Yuri's cheeks* and in Winter I'd a chance to get cozzy with my warm teddy bear *cuddling with Yuri*", Kana smiled a playful smirk.

"Ehh!?! Then you're... You're...! I forgot..", Yuri's face turned like a tomato.

"Oh! Just shut up, don't spoil the moment", Kana pretended to be offended.

"I? You're the one who should shut up! KANADE KOSAKA OR DR. K.K.SAKURA WHATEVER! I SWEAR I'M GONNA THROW YOU OFF FROM THE RAILS AND INTO THE RIVER! THEN GO AND SPEND TIME WITH YOUR THAT SO CALLED JACK", Yuri didn't notice what the hell she was saying.

"Aww that's rude but I'll pull you together my angel. If we die, we'll die together and if we'll survive, we'll always be together. So that's shouting won't work for me darling~", Kana again backed to her arrogance.

"Ok then Miss Arrogant. I'mma gonna leave you forever then find your that freaking Jack and stay together hmp", Yuri pouted angrily.

"Ohh~ now who's the Yandere? Isn't you're the one who said to Jack like-

'She's Red โค๏ธ, I'm Blue ๐Ÿ’™
If you hurt her ๐Ÿ’ข I'll kill you ๐Ÿ—ก๏ธ'...", Kana teased and hit playfully Yuri by her right elbow. "JUST SHUT UP!", Yuri fumed and crossed her arms.

"Oof- you two! I just went to buy some foods and you started bickering again. At least today is the day of New Year don't fight like that", Hanako complained crossing her arms.

She was wearing a navy blue kimono. She let her soft brown hair open and her elegant green eyes shining in the light.

"Ya say that to your Sora San, Hanako", Kanade replied to her.

She was wearing a pink kimono and tied up her hairs into a bun while letting her black locks hanging loose.

"Grr Hana Chan I guess your Sakura Senpai is just too arrogant to call me by my actual name. Well ok very well I'm gonna leave her right here to watch the fireworks from... Um well I suggest a visit to a temple around midnight on New Year's Eve when the bells are repeatedly rung", Yuri said.

She was wearing a light blue kimono and just like Kanade she tied up her hairs into a bun and let her hair locks loose open.

She frowned at Kanade who rolled out her eyes. Poor Hanako just sweat dropped seeing the fight.

"Now.. that you are gone,
I Finally know, what I have truly lost

I lost all the things that filled up my heart, up until now..."

New Year's Day

New Year's Day marks the beginning of Japan's most important holiday season, the New Year season (ๆญฃๆœˆ, Shลgatsu), which generally refers to the first one, three or seven days of the year.

Although not prescribed by law, many workplaces are closed from December 29 to January 3.

New Year (ๆญฃๆœˆ, shลgatsu) is the most important holiday in Japan. Most businesses shut down from January 1 to January 3, and families typically gather to spend the days together.

Years are traditionally viewed as completely separate, with each new year providing a fresh start.

Shลgatsu, also called Oshลgatsu, public holiday observed in Japan on January 1-3 (though celebrations sometimes last for the entire week), marking the beginning of a new calendar year.

Onenga or end of year gifts are given to thank a person for their support over the past year and into the next and are presented with the phrase "Kotoshi mo douzo yoroshiku onegaishimasu".

Department stores offer countless options for a beautiful omiyage (souvenirs) - snacks, sweets and liquor are popular choices.

Common traditions include attending parties, eating special New Year's foods, making resolutions for the new year and watching fireworks displays.

"Yo Sora, Sakura, Hanako! Heya!", Drake's voice reached to their ears. The trio spotted the other trio.

They noticed all of them were wearing kimonos what a coincidence.

"Oh my didn't know you boys also wanna join with us?", Hanako asked surprised seeing George and Drake wearing kimonos. "Ya why will miss the fun anyway?", George replied.

He was wearing an orange kimono and seemed like he was enjoying wearing it unlike Drake who's face was hilarious seeing George handling the clothes he didn't wanna wear.

"How you girls manage to walk with it?", Drake complained. He was wearing a bright blue kimono.

His ember eyes showed unreadable expression but Emelia caught him anyway.

"Oh com'on Drake don't be like that you're looking beautiful", she replied. Drake smiled at that.

Emelia was wearing a purple kimono. She tied up her hairs in a ponytail and letting loose some hairs from two sides.

She whirled around, "How am I looking?" "Fantastic", all commented. "Thanks guys", she replied cheerfully.

"So why are we waiting for? Go and climb up the stairs! We're going to see those fireworks from the high whoa", Yuri raised her hand into a fist.

"Well sure of course!", Kanade replied. "But before let's take a view of this entire place together", Emelia suggested. "Let's go", they all agreed.

"First of all-", Yuri started making others stop to listen her. "What?", All asked in question.

"-Let's go to eat FOODS!", She finished. "Right...", The five sweat dropped knowing Yuri very well. "Here comes the food lover"...

Toshikoshi soba is traditionally eaten the night before New Year's on New Year's Eve. The dish consists of buckwheat noodles in a soup with various toppings.

Sometime the dish will be simply garnished with some green onions, other times it is topped with things such as tempura, nori, egg, or spinach.

They wandered in many stalls buying some souvenirs, playing some games and watching some entertaining performances.

"*Click* *click*", Hanako brought the camera and she wasn't missing any single place without a click. "YEAH! This is the best New Year EVER!!", she cheered.

"FOODS FINALLY!", Finally Yuri found a place for all of them eating in peace. She booked the table for the six and started ordering her foods.

"Oh my gosh please don't order a full food factory Sis", George joked.

"No problem bro I'm ordering some and check out the menu order whatever you want! My treat!", She cheered.

"No need Sis you remember the lucky gift I got? This is the gift of a free food coupon", he informed.

"Oh my that's mean we can order whatever we want and eat only for today?", Emelia asked with sparkling eyes.

"Yes it's the address of this place. Guess lady luck on our side", Drake commented seeing the coupon.

George ordered or better say let Yuri ordered for everyone and results-

(Oh my gosh! I REALLY WANT THOSE FOODS ๐Ÿคฉ๐Ÿคค๐Ÿ˜‹)

"Yuri... Seriously?", Kanade blinked. "YAAY! Let's dig in", Hanako cheered.

"But-", "Oof Senpai today is New Year so put aside your health conscious lectures and spare us", she talked with eating those tasty dishes. "Ok as you say", Kanade shrugged sighing.

Everyone enjoyed those delicious foods. "Whoa so amazing! I admit I'm blessed coming here in Tokyo but still no place like home", "Ya", everyone nodded agreeing with Hanako.

"Guys it's the time! For Fireworks!", Yuri reminded. "Let's go", they all finished chatting and left the place to go to that place for watching fireworks. "Look at the sky", George pointed as others looked at it.

All let themselves relaxed under the sky. Dazzling, blazing, shimmering, glittering, sparkling, glowing, glimmering, twinkling.

The night skies will be aglow with fireworks. What time do the fireworks start? The display of fireworks on New Year's Eve is a fine spectacle.

Suddenly Kanade grabbed Yuri's hands gently making her startled, "Sorry for earlier. I shouldn't be so rude. I apologise for my behaviour".

"Oh don't worry I didn't mind. Actually I really lo- I mean enjoy bickering with you hehe?~", Yuri giggled making Kanade smile also.

"Just how much you've been there, holding me up, supporting me through the years.

Just how much you've made me smile, even when I'm in tears..."

"Thanks for coming here I'm so glad that I'm able to start my New Year with you though you're returning back to NYC but you'll be forever in my heart", Yuri said out softly.

"Even if we're world's apart
You're always and forever in my heart", Kanade said out politely. "Promise we'll be like this forever?", She asked out. Yuri smiled brightly.

"A promise of a lifetime-

You and I will always be friends for life", Yuri put their hands together enjoying the comfortable moment between just the two of them forgetting about others were there also. The other four just smiled seeing those two together.

"I still can't believe or consider what has gone

It's too much to take but my heart is beating on

I reached out my hand and I struggled for a grasp

As hard as I tried I could not take them back..."

"Aww those two really look cute together", Hanako started fangirling while George, Drake and Emelia just laughed at the youngsters comment.

"When the distance becomes the horizon

Friendship and love bind by their own", Yuri and Kanade both said together.

Both were glad to meet each other once again. After whatever drama, misery and sadness they've crossed without each other now those things are repaying by binding them close together once again. They just wish they would stay like this forever.

"The wind slipped through my fingers like an illusion

It was all just a dream I felt so alone

Nobody here I'm struggling to breathe

But I still remember, it still remains, your sweet smiling face

Still cheering me on, pushing me through like always..."

After the lights have stimulated the anticipation of a threat, the resounding crack of the firework confirms this perception in our brains.

In response, our reward centers release a surge of dopamine-a chemical that regulates pleasure.

Firecrackers and fireworks are set off at the stroke of midnight to scare away evil spirits and celebrate the coming of the new year.

On New Year's Day morning: In some places, families first set off firecrackers when they open the door or before they go out. It symbolizes good luck throughout the whole year.

When you're young and see these powerful and beautiful sky art, it will remain in your thoughts for years.

You are not only keeping a visual memory, but the emotion you felt during that time.

This is why when you're older, fireworks have a way of pulling your heartstrings and make you feel sentimental...

~*Somedays later*~

Tokyo International Airport, Tokyo, Japan

"Oh Holy Crap! Why in the world I always miss my best moments to capture this two in my camera lense. *Pout* NO *Determined* I'm a hardcore Yuri shipper and finding the best person for my Sakura Senpai is my duty so... I'LL DO IT !!100%!!", Our cute matchmaker Hanako cheered.

(Lol ๐Ÿ˜‚ rip myself ๐Ÿ˜…)

...While Yuri and Kanade saying goodbye to each other...

Kanade's flight was 2 days later after New Year in the afternoon so Yuri thought about saying farewell to her at the airport before she went busy with her airline works.

She and Hanako packed their luggage and finished all the airport business before waiting for the flight on board.

"Where are you now, what are you doing?

Are you in this endless sky?

I realized for the first time

I've lost the things that have filled my heart till now..."

"So I guess it's been already a brand new year came, so enjoy your this year my little sunflower", Kanade teased the last part.

"Off *lightly blushed* Oh quit teasing me and take care of yourself miss arrogant *pout*", Yuri pointed out.

"Hey com'on I'm not arrogant at least I've stopped after re-founding you again my sapphire *moved her head and touched with Yuri's forehead*, Kana smiled.

"How much you supported me,

How much you made me smile.

That I'd lost them

Was too much to consider,

Even though struggled so desperately to reach out my hand and take them back..."

"Ya I'll always be waiting for you my ruby", Yuri bent forward and both's forehead touched with each other. "Cause always remember...", Both started and said-

"When The DISTANCE Becomes The HORIZON

Friendship And LOVE Binds By Their OWN"...

Suddenly... *Click click* both found out Hanako clicking pictures of them. "Ehh??! HANAKO?!?", Both screamed.

"Ow! Com'on couldn't you two come more close to-", "HANAKO!", Yuri and Kanade both cut her out *Both blushing madly*.

"Hehe~ but I found a masterpiece *playful smirk* to blackmail Sakura Senpai later~", Hanako chimed.

"Ehh!?!", Yuri and Kanade's expressions were priceless. Hanako just laughed enjoying teasing the two.

But unfortunately this don't stay too long as-

"Good afternoon passengers. This is the pre-boarding announcement for flight 175A to New York. We are now inviting those passengers with small children, and any passengers requiring special assistance, to begin boarding at this time. Please have your boarding pass and identification ready. Regular boarding will begin in approximately ten minutes time. Thank you."

The boarding flight announcement caught their attention. The three realised it was time for their leaving.

"Love you Hana Chan stay blessed", Yuri hugged Hanako as she hugged back, "Love You too Sora San!"

Then she returned her glance to her best friend, "Have a safe flight". She nodded then took out her sapphire pendant to show to Yuri.

Yuri knew what she was saying as she also raised her ruby pendant chain then both stones clicked on each other. "Promise!", Both said in unison.

"Light the wind they slipped through,

Looking as though they would reach me, but did not.

My chest was tightened by loneliness and despair,

My heart felt like it would break.

But your smiling face remained in my memories,

Always encouraging me..."

Yuri saw the two baid farewell as they walked forward then went to the elevators.

Then after the final announcement of taking off the plane fly to the sky. Yuri keep smiling brightly waving back to it.

"Let's return to those days once more
I know it will be alright this time.

Always smiling at your side, Close by your side..."

Kanade and Hanako looked from the window and got a slight glimpse of Yuri. They waved but not sure if Yuri noticed that from so far.

"Where are you now, what are you doing?

Are you in this endless sky? Will you smile for me like always?

Right now, it's all I continue to ask for..."

After the plane disappeared from Yuri's sight she closed her eyes then took the road out of the airport heading to her home.

She smiled softly touching her red ruby pendant chain and caressed with her thumb.

"I finally completed my mission of finding true friendship/ true love. Hope we can stay like this forever", Yuri/ Kanade said out from their own respective places.

They succeeded to archive their own dreams, their goals now they left to do enjoy the best thing they got from their loved ones to cherish the memories of being who they really are... Who they wanna be...
