The history books spoke of the victory of Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen. It was well known that she won the war without losing anyone on her side, all but one. Her son, the prince Lucerys Velaryon who was murdered before the war of dragons began.

The main talk of gossip or, talk, songs and stories was Queen Reina Targaryen. The one who gave Rhaenyra her throne. Without her, Rhaenyra would have lost and she would have lost more than she did throughout the war. Daemon and Reina were the ones who executed the traitors. Reina and Rhaenys chose the new council with the queen's and her king's approval. Reina was also nicknamed the kinslayer as she murdered her brother for betraying Rhaenyra in the end.

Before her departure, Rhaenyra offered Rhaenyra a seat in her council. It was a conversation she wanted to have with her before she left. "When you came into our lives, everything was in a bad place, to say the least" both women smile at her words. "Yet, you walked in as if you knew what was to come. You saved me time and people. I believed that perhaps we would not make it to see the end of the war. But, thanks to you, here we are. Together, as a family. As we should have had long ago" Reina nodded.

"I saw your strength, your bravery, your anger, and your will to win. To return what had been stolen from me. You did not have to and whether your mother sent you or not, you did your duty and fulfilled your promise to have me sit on my rightful throne" Reina nodded at her words. "In the time we spent together, I saw you and my son. The stares, the lingering touches, the smiles, the time spent in the skies or away from prying eyes. I thought you and Jacaerys would do well as the king and queen of the Seven Kingdoms. Perfect rulers" she said. "And if you wish it, you may stay here and build a life with him. A life full of love, happiness, and children. A family of your own" Reina gave her a sad smile.

It was her turn to speak. "I love Jacaerys. More than I am willing to admit. But, we cannot be together. He is good, kind, compassionate. He cares and loves so deeply that it scared me at times" tears pooled in her eyes. "But, I am death, blood, and fire. I am the very opposite of him. He deserves someone much better than I. He deserves to be happy and in peace. I was born to kill, to maim, to take. And I cannot make him like me. I could not live with myself if I did. So, I let him go. To be happy with Lady Baela. She will love him and care for him properly, far better than I would" Rhaenyra saw it in her eyes. Reina loved Jacaerys too much. Too much that she knew he would hate her for what she truly was. And even if he saw past that, he could not live in her world. She had seen it. And she would never put him through that again.

Reina had been invited to dine with the Targaryen family that night. Her men had begun their journey home as soon as the war ended. It had been some weeks since. She was to leave in a week, yet she could not bear to hear Lady Baela and her family speak of her wedding, of the near day where she would marry Jacaerys and the two would be truly happy once and for all. She decided to leave while everyone dined. They were not informed until after they were done with their supper. "Your grace" a dragon keeper walked into the room with Mysaria. "Her grace, Reina has left hours ago. After your conversation. The dragon keepers thought she was out for a ride but when the others informed them that her other two dragons joined them and did not return hours later they believed she returned home and my birds told me she had indeed left for home" Jacaerys stood abruptly and left the room.

The prince made it to his room. In his bed was a letter and a Valyrian steel dagger. Reina's. "Dear Jacaerys, I wish I had been brave enough to look into your eyes and say goodbye, but alas, I do not feel brave at this moment. I wanted to thank you for making me the happiest woman in the realm in the last couple of moons we have spent together. I love you. I will always love you. It could be fifty years from now and even then, I will still love you the same. Our story was short-lived but it was so beautiful that it was worth the ending we got. Or the ending we got. I know that you do not wish to marry Lady Baela but she will make you the happiest man on the realm. I know it.

My mother always said loving a man was a weakness but it all changed when she met my father. She fell in love and has loved him ever since. I thought she was right but much like her, I fell in love with you. I hope that one day you can forgive me for leaving you behind. I hope you understand that this is for the best. Do not come looking for me, please. You will not find me. I found this dagger in the ruins of Old Valyria. I would like for you to have. You are the next king of the Seven Kingdoms, every Targaryen king should have their own Valyrian Steel dagger.

I hope that you think of me from time to time, Jacaerys. I hope you know that you are the world to me and I hope you know that I love you. I will love you forever, even after my heart stops beating.

With Love, Reina Targaryen" Hacaerys held the letter and dagger closed to his heart. He mourned for the love he would never get to have or enjoy. "I will love you forever too, Reina Targaryen" he whispered as he fell asleep with the letter and dagger clasped in his hands.

Reina was remembered by many in the Seven Kingdoms and she was most remembered by the royal family, especially by the prince Jacaerys Velaryon. Fifteen years it had been since she was last seen. Fifteen long years. Queen Rhaenyra was throwing a feast to celebrate the anniversary of her reign. And like she always had, she extended the invitation to Reina Targaryen who never showed but wrote to her from time to time. The feast was in full swing when Queen Reina Targaryen walked in. "Queen Reina Targaryen and her royal children, Prince Maegor Targaryen and Prince Lucerys Targaryen. Her King Consort, Prince Oberyn Martell, and their children, Nymeria Martell, Qoren Martell, Alysanne Martell, Baelon Martell, and Aemma Martell" everyone stood at their announcement.

As Reina and her family made their way to the queen's table Baela saw Jacaerys. His eyes followed hers, waiting for her lilac eyes to meet his brown ones. Rhaenrya and Rhaenys saw it frist. How Lucerys looks like Jacaerys and so does Maegor but he has his mother's hair and eyes. "Your grace, it has been so long," she says with a smile one that Rhaenyra returns. "Indeed it has, your grace" Rhaenyra welcomed her into her arms, once again she was home. Reina and her family greeted the rest of the family before sitting with her own, Rhaenyra made room for her as she always did in hopes that she would show. Today, she did.

Reina spoke with Rhaenyra while Daemon spoke with Oberyn. Jacaerys said nothing, even going as far as to ignore Baela. Rhaenys looked at the boys, they were the exact copy of the future king. Daemon wanted to speak with Oberyn so after the feast was over the two left to talk. Jacaerys made his way to Reina's room when he heard his mother, Baela, Rhaenys, and Reina talking. "Maegor and Lucerys are my sons. Mine. And mine along" she told them. "Yes, but they are also Jacaerys' sons, are they not?" Rhaenys asked. "Yes. It was one time all those years ago. I did not think it would take. It seems the seed was indeed strong" she jests but it was not a moment for laughs nor jests.

"I said nothing because I promised Lady Baela I would stay away from Jacaerys so the two could get married and be happy together as they would have been if they had not shown up. I thought it was for the best" everyone was in disbelief. "Jacaerys needs to know" Reina looked at Rhaenyra. "No. I know how the Southerners treat bastards. I will not allow slanders to be said about my sons for I fear many dead bodies will fill the Keep" she said with a smile. "My sons have grown up in the Free Cities that is all they know. And what is the point? Jacaerys is married to Baela who I am sure has given him plenty of children" the room went quiet. "Why is everyone so quiet all of a sudden?" she asked and Baela made her way out. Her grandmother called out for her but she did not stop.

Rhaenyra took a deep breath. "Baela has not been able to conceive. For years both Baela and Jace had blamed themselves for it and she refused to annul their marriage" Rhaenyra said. "So, her temper tantrum over Jacaerys was for nothing?" Reina asked. She knew it was harsh but had she not been insistent that she and Jacaerys were meant to be Reina would be happy, perhaps. "Are you saying Maegor is to be Jacaerys' heir?" she asked. Rhaenrya nodded and Reina went quiet. "That is something Maegor himself will have to answer. By your law, a bastard child cannot be the next king. Unless it is admitted that he is a bastard so you can legitimize him" Reina did not wish this life for her son but he was old enough to decide for himself.

That same night the conversation came afloat. They spoke and that was his wish. Maegor Targaryen would be the future king of the Seven Kingdoms and Lucerys would be the king of the Free Cities. Oberyn was proud, he married Rhaenyra a year after her twin sons were born and he loved them as if they were his own. His two sons were to be king and his eldest daughter was the future princess of Dorne. Oberyn returned to Dorne to handle some matters but he would return for the announcement of his sons. Sadly, he would never get to see any of his children become kings and princesses of their respective houses. He died on his way home. Reina mourned him.

Oberyn had been by her side for over a decade and he never left her. A year later, her eldest sons were known as Targaryen, but they had always been Targaryen as their mother was queen. During supper and one of Reina's visits Jacaerys and his mother made an announcement, that Jacaerys and Baela's marriage would be annulled and he was in search of a new one. He did not look far, for the one he wanted was right there in front of him. "I propose a marriage between the Queen Reina Targaryen and Prince Jacaerys Velaryon. A union that is long overdue" Maegor and Lucerys smiled at their mother. That is why they wanted to see their mother happily married to the man she loved. And although she loved Oberyn they knew she loved Jacaerys more and that would never change.

A year later, when the twins were ten and six, Jacaerys and Reina welcomed their third child, a girl who they named Visenya. The pair married a moon later after Jacaerys' annulment. Three years after Visenya came Laena and Laenor in honor of Jacaerys' father and aunt. At their five-year wedding mark, Jacaerys became king of the seven Kingdoms alongside his wife, Queen Reina Targaryen. That same year, Reina took the birthing bed one last time, giving birth to two twins again, Daemon and Rhaenyra Targaryen were born at the beginning of their parent's reign. Many said King Jacaerys Targaryen and his wife, Queen Reina were the most loved king and queen the realm had ever seen, they surpassed Jaehaerys and Alyssane. Some even called them the peaceful king and his good queen as they had called their descendants.

Reina Targaryen died first at the age of one hundred and three. Her husband, Jacaerys Targaryen died at one hundred and ten. Their children love poems and sing songs of their love. The old king and queen met many of their children's children, great-grandchildren, and two-times grandchildren, making them the longest-living royals the realm had ever seen and would ever see. In another life it was thanks to Jacaerys' sacrifice that his mother's line continued, in this one, it was thanks to him and his beloved wife that it did.

As Reina promised, she loved her husband even after her heart stopped beating, and once the two found each other again, their love continued to burn forever. The story of Reina Targaryen and Jacaerys Targaryen was the best proof of the saying: If you are meant to be you will always find your way back to each other" as the saying said, Reina found her way back to Jacaerys' arm and he could not be any happier for it.

I don't know how I feel about this ending yet. I will see and if I don't like it I might change it. What do you guys think?
