Daemon Targaryen heard Aelora had disappeared in the middle of the night. No one knew where she went or if she was alive. Alys had been looking for her but she had found nothing. Aelora hated King's Landing. She hated the people who stayed there, many gave her dirty looks because they knew who she wasβa bastard. A Targaryen bastard but a bastard nevertheless.
Aelora quickly became friends with Helaena. The two girls spent their time together the most, either in the children's presence or dragon back. Aelora quickly realized Helaena was a dreamer. She knew things others didn't and the young queen often tried to warn everyone about the things that were to happen.
Aelora was quick to get into the court life. Everyone that landed eyes on her would see the young Rhaenyra Targaryen walking among them. From the way she dressed to the way she talked. It was like having Rhaenyra in her younger years. "Is the Keep to your liking?" Helaena asked as they got down from their dragons. "I am not used to this life but it is nice to have people who can understand me" the young queen nodded. "The House of Dragons will be saved by a lone dragon" Aelora listened to Helaena, to every word she said. The lone dragon spoke of her, of Aelora. She would save her house. "Come, you are late for your duties and I am going to be late for the meetings" Aelora held Helaena's hand and the two walked off.
Alicent watched them walk inside the many halls of the Keep. The former queen was having deja vu about her past. Especially as she watched Aelora, there was her friend, her Rhaenyra. From when they were young. "This is where we part, your grace," she said with a bow. "You know that is not necessary," Helaena told her and she smiled, a smirk threatening her lips. "I know" was all she said before heading to the council meeting.
Aelora made her way to the council meeting. It was empty, only Otto Hightower in the room. "My lord hand" she greeted him with a nod. "Lady Aelora" he never called her princess even when Aegon legitimized her as a Targaryen princess. "Wine, my lord?" she asked and he nodded. "Tell me, what was Prince Daemon doing while in Harrenhal" he ordered. "He arrived soon after the news of the king's death came through. He said the Riverlands had to bend the knee to queen Rhaenyra" she took a deep breath. "I heard lord Blackwood was terrorizing the Brackens. I am not sure if the rumors were true but with the many lords from the Riverlands arriving there the night before I left said that they might have been" she looked out towards the city. "I hate war. I grew up in the cities of Essos. I have seen enough death to last me a lifetime. I just want to be in peace" Otto was a smart man, he didn't trust her but didn't know that she would play him and his entire court for fools.
He looked at the girl, like his daughter, he was seeing young Rhaenyra once again. "Well, if you help us win the war, your peace will be secure. As long as Rhaenyra lives, there will always be a target on your back" she nodded. He was trying to inflict fear on her. Before either of them could speak again the councilmen began to walk in. Aemond and Aegon are the last ones. "Let's begin," Otto says adn everyone settles in. She walks around serving wine. She remains silent she listens to what they say.
"Aemond will pay a visit to Lord Borros Baratheon. He will pick one of his daughters to wed that way he will earn us an army" Aemond looked at his brother, mother, and grandfather. "Yes. Lord Borros is a proud man but he like any other man wishes to be in the line of power" Aemond says nothing but in his mind he was already planning the demise of his future wife. "In addition, we will find a husband for Princess Aelora," Alicent said and at those words, Aelora turned to the dowager queen. Alicent felt eyes on her. "We will need more allies, a princess who has a dragon is a great desire in the realm" Aelora said nothing but her anger was there and if she could not show it, her dragon certainly let her know.
"I don't believe a lord would like to marry a bastard girl," Aelora told her. "A princess of House Targaryen" Otto replied for Alicent. Aelora said nothing but her face did not lie. "We will discuss this another time," Aegon told his mother. "You may go, Princess" he dismissed Aelora and she nodded. Aelora knew Aemond was about to start the war in Storms End by killing his nephew Lucerys Velaryon. She needed to figure out a way to save the boy. Aelora leaves the Keep going straight for the Dragon Pit. Dragonstone was not far away, she'd be back before they knew she went there. She took a different route so they would not know where she was truly going.
The Cannibal landed on the island, and Rhaenyra sent her men to greet whoever had arrived. "Your grace" she greeted and everyone who was there was as shocked as the Hightower's had been when they saw her the first time. Rhaenys saw Rhaenyra once again. "Have we met before?" Rhaenyra asked. "No, your grace but I just came to warn your son, the prince Lucerys" Lucerys looked at the girl. He had never met her but she looked at him in such a way that would have anyone believe they knew each other.
"Aemond Targaryen will be in Storms End. Borros Baratheon will not aid you, princess. If you send your boy he will die at the hands of his uncle and that will unravel a war that will bring the downfall of house Targaryen" Rhaenyra and her close advisors were quiet. "Who are you?" Rhaenys asked. "Aelora" she replied. "Aelora Waters" she added. "The Song Of Ice And Fire," she told Rhaenyra in their native tongues. "What do you know of it?" she asked. "Everything" she replied. Aelora turned to walk away. "Wait," Rhaenyra said as she followed. "What do you know?" she asked the girl. "I know that your line will nearly end. Your three eldest sons will die to give you the crown. I know you do not know me, but I have been in King's Landing for a while and Aemond will go to Storms End. He will kill your son. And after that, there will be no going back. Please, do not send him" Rhaenyra watched as the girl vanished as if she was never there.
Rhaenyra had been warned. Will she listen? Or will she lose her son? Will his death unveil a war that no one was truly prepared for?Β
