King's Landing, 121

There has never been a queen as much loved as Queen Alyria Hightower. Alicent Hightower was known and not forgotten as her sister once said but she was not remembered for being good or kind. She was known as the Green Whore. Her father was known as a traitor and an ambitious man. She knew he would hate that. Many said Alyria Hightower and her little family were the only good things that ever came from House Hightower.

King's Landing seemed gloomy as the royal family returned to the city. The council meeting had come together as soon as the boat touched the port. The king, his wife, brother, and the rest sat and began to speak about the matter. The men looked at the queen. "I love my family, in the end, they are my blood" she began before taking a deep breath. "But, I am a woman of my word. I do not like to make promises and break them. I have honor and there has always been honor in my words" the men in the room nodded.

"The events on Driftmark made me realize that no matter what the king has decreed, others believe that a male heir is much better than a female one" the room was once again quiet. "My father was one of those people. He believed that Aemond should be the next king of the Seven Kingdoms, even after I voiced my disagreement and opinion. The king named Rhaenyra his heir. But, my father decided that was not the best for the realm, that the best was a Hightower. Either my sons or Alicent's. And for years I let it go, believing that one day his ridiculous plans would cease or that he would change his mind. He did not" she took a deep breath before looking at Viserys.

"Husband, in our years of marriage I have never asked you for anything" she began and he nodded. "And I know that what I am about to ask is something that needs consideration and thought but I know is for the best" he nodded once again. "I believe that my father is a traitor alongside my sister and her sons. And I believe they should be executed for treason, not alone against the crown but Rhaenyra and my children" a few gasps were heard around the table. "Rhaenyra is my daughter, the heir to the throne, threatening her and her family is treason" the lords nodded. "Alicent's son threatened my own. I don't want to believe what they would do if they had a real chance at hurting my family" the men in the room could not deny that Otto Hightower was capable of doing such despicable things to get his way to the crown.

"I agree with the queen" Daemon spoke up first. "I will let you talk amongst yourselves and decide" the queen made her way to her chambers. "Do not let anyone in. I'm not feeling well, Ser Erryk" the guard nodded as she made her way into her room. The queen sat in her chambers, and for the first time in years, Alyria cried her heart out. She grieved for the family she had lost years ago when she chose Rhaenyra's side. The queen didn't join her family for supper, she remained in her bed, crying until she had no tears left.

That night, her husband finally arrived to their chambers. "My love" he called out as she laid in her bed. "I know you're awake, Lyria" she smiled for the first time in a while. She turned to face him, sitting up. "I know this decision was a hard one for you" she looked at her husband. "Throughout the years you have stood by my side, like you have said. You have never asked for anything, if more, you have made the small folk like us even more, they respect us. You out of everyone else" Alyria smiled. "And if you wish to continue with this, then I shall stand with you. After all, what you want to do is protect your family" she nodded before she started to cry. "My whole life I have done what has been expected of me. Upholding my duty to my house, you, the realm, and our family. All I want is for their safety, for our girls and boys to be happy and safe and i know that as long as my father and sister remain alive our family will not be safe" Viserys and the council had yet to decide but he was the king, his word was law. He kissed her cheek. "I will return shortly" she nodded and went back to bed.

The men in the room were confused. The king had just left and was back less than an hour later. "I have decided that Otto will be executed in three days' time" the men in the room looked at each other. "And... Aegon and Daeron will be executed as well" Daemon turned to face his brother, a look of surprise filled his face, even Corlys'. They didn't think the king would ever do such a thing. "My king." Maellos began. "The king has made his decree, Maellos. Otto is no longer here to take your side" Daemon said with a smirk. "If allowed I want to be the one to take their heads" Daemon added.

"The queen is not thinking straight, doing this, is not something to take lightly" Daemon scoffed. "Have you forgotten that those children threatened to put Alyria's sons' heads in spikes for everyone to see?" Daemon asked. "Prince Daemon is right. They threatened not only the queen's children but our future queen" Corlys added and Daemon nodded. The men in the room nodded. "Is agreed then?" the king asked and the men nodded. They had no choice as the king had already made his own choice. "Very well, my king. I shall make the arrangements" Daemon said as the king stood and made his way out.

Alyria visited her family one last time. Her sister was to be placed in the farthest tower and in one that was deserted, it had not been used in years. There, Alicent Hightower would spend the rest of her days. Gwayne had said his goodbyes, his father tried to convince him that Alyria was mad and selfish but Otto had stopped being Gwayne's father a long time ago and the boy saw him more as a grandfather than his father. "This is our final goodbye, father" she began. She took one last look at him, or rather a second to last look, she would be there, watching as Daemon took his head. She looked at Daeron and Aegon. "Perhaps in another life, we could be a happy family," she said. Daeron and Aegon were remorseful, their actions had given them consequences that the two young men had never imagined having.

Her sister had been present at the execution. The king stood with some members of the royal family. The queen, Rhaenyra, Laenor, Rhaenys, and the lords of the council room. "Otto Hightower, for your crimes against the crown, you are sentenced to die," the king said. Daemon looked at the queen who looked at her father, he looked at her with pleading eyes. She let the tears fall before nodding. "Prince Daemon, bring me Otto Hightower's head" the prince nodded and a few minutes later Otto Hightower's head was rolling on the ground. The young Syrax arrived as if being called. Rhaenyra looked at her mother, she gave her a sad smile before Alyria began to look for Alicent. Alicent shook her head. "Please, sister. Do not do this" she said but the queen turned away. She looked at her nephews who were crying. "I am so sorry" she whispered and Daeron nodded.

Daeron knew what they had done was risky and stupid. He regretted but he could not take back his threat. He knew Alyria loved them in her own way, but she loved her children more. More than his mother had loved him or Aegon. They were mere pawns in their game. He knew he was Alicen't favorite, even Otto's but he knew that what they taught him cost him his life. And that of his brother. He nodded. "I know" he replied. "I am sorry too" she nodded giving him a reassuring smile. Aegon and Daeron saw a glimpse of the mother they wished they had growing up. "Daeron Targaryen and Aegon Targaryen, for your crimes and threats against the crown princess, queen, and her children, you are sentenced to die" this time, she could not watch.

Rhaenyra looked for her signal. "Lyra, please!" she heard Alicent say but she did not face her. She looked at Rhaenyra and nodded. "Dracaerys!' the princess said and the dragon listened, spitting her hot flames onto the young princes. The people cheered while Alicent passed out from the tragic events. She was taken back to her room, she was guarded by trusted and loyal guards of the queen. Rhaenyra and King Viserys stood beside Alyria as she watched the heads of her three family members be put up on spikes for others to see.

King's Landing, 123-133

It had been nearly three years since the death of Otto Hightower, Aegon, and Daeron Waters. Alyria would pray for their souls very often. She called herself a hypocrite for it but she knew it had been for the best. She didn't visit her sister, but the maids she had for her would tell her of her days. Alicent remained in her tower for the rest of her life. She often wept and began talking to herself and began to dislike the color green. She died in the year 133 during the outbreak of the winter fever. In her last moments, her final words as she lay dying were: I want to see my sons again, and Alyria, my sweet sister, and my little brother, Gwayne. Alyria and I will read together, even perhaps take a stroll through the gardens. Alyria had the sweetest and soft voice. I used to love when she would read to me. It was the only thing that could calm me down.

When she died, her sister, queen Alyria wept for days. She had not been there when her sister passed, she had not been allowed in her tower in fear that she too might get sick. Four years before her death, King Viserys died in his sleep in the year 129, that same year, the dowager queen Alyria crowned Rhaenyra Targaryen as the queen of the Seven Kingdoms. The queen's dream came true the day her daughter sat on the Iron Throne. In the year 130, queen Rhaenyra took her brother, Prince Aemond as her second husband. Princess Alyssa went on to marry Benjicot Blackwood. Her sister Helaena went on to marry Cregan Stark. Baelon married Nymeria Martell, the next ruler of Dorne. Maegor married her twin, Amera Martell. Ceryse went on to marry Jacaerys and was set to become the next queen of the seven kingdoms. Rhaegar and Aemon were set to marry Baela and Rhaena. Prince Lucerys was set to marry Aera. Aelor Targaryen was set to marry Soreya Hightower. Aeron Targaryen was set to marry Aemma Arryn, Jeyne Arryn's daughter.

The youngest of the family, Adam was set to marry Marie Baratheon, daughter of Elena Tyrell. Alyn was set to marry Calliope Tyrell, daughter of Cassandra Baratheon. The other young children that came after were yet to be decided. Alyria lived the rest of her days in peace, raising her children with her lover and husband the prince Daemon Targaryen who never stopped taking her on dragon riders across the Narrow Sea. Prince Daemon and the Queen mother as Alyria was famously known, married in the summer of 133 when she was 45, and the prince 52.

In the years that came, Alyria Hightower came to be known as the Queen Mother. Everyone knew had the queen chosen to listen to her father's words, the realm would have torn itself apart trying to sit either Aemond, Rhaenyra, or Aegon on the throne but the queen stood her ground on the named and chosen heir, the Princess Rhaenyra who later came to be Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen first of her name. Prince Daemon passed away first, he too died in his sleep, quietly and peacefully in the year, 163 at the age of 82. Queen Alyria died in the year 200 at 112 years of age. King Jacaerys had been gone by the time she died, his grandson, Daemon was the king when she passed, He had been king for nearly two decades when his great-great-grandmother had passed. The queen lived 30 years without Daemon and nearly 15 without Rhaenyra, her first daughter. Gwayne had died ten years before Rhaenyra. He died five years after Daemon and the Queen mother mourned her first son, her first child.

King's Landing, 300

King Rhaegar Targaryen was returning from his flight, and beside him was his eldest daughter, princess Rhaenyra. Their mother, queen Alyria welcomed them back. "Mother!" the young princess said as she watched her daughter run to her. "My little dragon" she greeted back as she hugged her. "Did you have fun with your father?" she asked with a smile making the princess giggle and nod. "You must join us soon!" the girl replied excitedly. Her mother kissed her cheek. "I will soon, once your brother or sister is born" Rhaenyra kissed her mother's belly. "My darling" Rhaegar greeted his wife with a kiss. "My love" she replied. "How is our littlest dragon?" he asked as he touched her belly. "He moves around as if he/she might be flying" she replied. "A true dragon, I venture," Daemon said.

Princess Alyria had been King Duncan's first daughter with Aelora Velaryon. Rhaegar had been prince Aerys and Princess Maella's son. Daemon was Princess Rhaella's son with Corlys Velaryon. House Targaryen bloosed thanks to queen Alyria Hightower. More than thirty roamed the skies, some claimed others free for the taking. Queen Alyria had taken both Rhaegar and Daemon as her husbands, everyone knew the three loved each other deeply. Rhaenyra had been their first child, daughter of Rhaegar and Alyria. Maegor came a year after his sister, son of Daemon and Alyria. Princess Rhaenyra was now 20 and married to her brother Maegor who she loved. They had two two-year-old twins, Visenya and Rhaenys. The queen had more children, some even said she was aiming to surprise the good queen Alysanne Targaryen.

One thing was true, queen Alyria's wishes and hopes for the future were respected and honored. House Targaryen had its fair share of kings but everyone said the queens did it better and it was not a lie. House Targaryen prevailed thanks to the Queen Alyria Hightower, the Queen Mother of House Targaryen.
