Chan rolled his eyes, walking past the two to his room. Felix hurriedly following behind.
This whole situation of Felix being at his home bothered Chan.

"It's a little messy but yeah..", he said opening the door to his room.
Felix looked astonished.
He entered the room in trance.
Viewing the guitar in one corner, while a piano was in the other. The desk full of papers with notes and assumingely lyrics, on the wall above was a small picture with him and his dad.

While studying the picture he asks, "Are you close with your dad?"
Chan looked over his shoulder, spotting Felix being focused on the picture. Proceeding to step next to him, he looked at it with him.

"I guess, you could say that yeah. He's not just a father but also a friend to me."
Felix eyed Chan, looking up to him.
"After him and mom got divorced, we grew even closer.", he mumbled, not even realizing he was still talking to Felix.
It was probably the most he had ever said to the younger boy in one go.

He snapped out of his thoughts.
"What about you and your old man?"
"Oh uh... I wouldn't say we're that close.", he answered scratching his lower neck.

"I see...", not that Chan actually cared, "Anyways, what are we supposed to do for chemistry again?"
He shut the small conversation down.
"Ah yes, our topic was galvanic cell. So we gotta find out how it works, build one and explain it to the others and all. We can start with researching what it's made of."
Chan only nodded, shoving all the paper off his desk in order to make space for his laptop. "Just grab the stool next to the guitar.", he said while locking in on his laptop.

An hour passed filled with research, a lot of explaining from Felix's side while Chan took notes.
"By the way, why did you choose me as a partner for the project?", Chan had this question running around his head the last few hours. He wasn't satisfied with the answer, that he hadn't had a group yet and that the class isn't dividable by three.ย

"Well uhm... you remember that small note you lost the other day? With the lyrics?"
"Yea, and?"
"I was just curious if you have more of these. Maybe even finished songs.", he smiled brightly though nervously.
Chan raised an eyebrow.
That's why?

"I do. But I usually don't share them with anyone, you reading that one was an accident anyway.", he explained while stubbornly looking at the display in front of him. As talented as Felix was, Chan thought he'd do a better job at writing lyrics. Even without experience.
It was Felix after all.

But he didn't want to find out. He was scared to be worse than him on something he had put so much effort into. So much time and energy, only to end up maybe getting 'corrected'? 'outshined'? 'judged'?

Besides these words weren't meant for anyone to read. These were his way to express emotion, to deal with certain events.
And now Felix, basically a stranger to him, shall read these first if not even Minho had read them? like hell.

"Please?", Felix pleaded.
"No.", he clenched his fist.
"Aw come on, I won't- "
"I said no.", Chan threw his fist onto the desk raising his voice, making Felix tense up immediately.
"..s-sorry.", he whispered.
...
"I should probably get going.. i-it's been more than an hour already anyway.", he explained quietly with a shaky voice. While quickly packing his stuff his hand was visibly trembling.
Only as Felix left Chan's room without another word being spoken, he realized how much he had built himself up.
He sighed, letting himself fall into the back of the chair. Chan ruffled through his hair in order to calm down.

It was for certain he had overreacted, he was aware. But hadn't Felix as well?
Such a drama queen.
He rolled his eyes.

His dad knocked on the doorframe.
"Hey Chan, your friend just-"
"He's not my friend. He'll never be."
Just then they heard their front door close.
He couldn't care less if Felix heard what he said. In fact, of course he had.
But after all, it was true, in Chan's eyes at least.

Chan's dad sighed and sat down next to him.
"I know it's been tough for you because of mom and especially since Changbin.. you know.", he calmly spoke.
"Don't drag him into this.", his voice cracked a bit.
"You should start making some new friends though. I'm saying this because I'm worried for you. Try to let people into your heart again.", he ruffled through his son's hair softly.
"It's just... it's so difficult."
"I know, but can you try - for me?"
Chan nodded hesitantly.

"For example, I understood you don't like that Felix boy, but I really think he's not all that bad."
His dad laughed heartedly as Chan grimaced and furrowed his eyebrows.
"I've known you your entire life and I know the walls you built up to shut people out. But I really think you should try to get to know him better before you make such a harsh statement.", he patted on Chan's shoulder before standing up.

Try to get to know him better?
Felix?
