As the days passed the drama of Adara's and Klaus's breakup still continued throughout her last days in the small town. Caroline was currently being ignored because she knew that Adara and Klaus were together. Even if Klaus didn't respect their relationship Caroline should have as her friend.

Adara was spending her last day with the people she came to care about. Specially Elena and Jeremy. Jeremy wasn't really her family by blood but she did care about the kid. Bonnie and her got along well, too well for everyone's comfort. Both were witches so it was understandable. She also got along well with Katherine, that freaked everyone out. Katherine got along with her sisters doppelgänger than with her own. But, it was alright.

That night, Elena, Elijah, Rebekah, Kol, Finn, Damon, Stefan, Jeremy, Bonnie, Tyler, Matt and Adara sat near the bonfire, drinking and talking. It was her last day in the small town of Virginia. She held a cup of bourbon in her hand. She listened to everyone's stories. It was odd, Elena told her how she hated the Mikaelson's and they hated her and her friends. Adara laughed about and said it was like a enemies to lovers type of thing but instead, it was enemies to friends.

"I want to make a toast" she began. They all quieted down and turned to look at her. "I want to make a toast to new friendships and allies. Thank you for being king and welcoming me into your lives" she smiled. "Cheers!" she said as she raised her glass. "Cheers!" they all said doing the same before drinking. Everyone was simply... living. As the morning began to set, everyone had gone to sleep. Adara was still awake, everyone slept in the Salvatore house were the bonfire had been done at.

The red head sat by the almost extinguishing fire. Elijah, stood by a tree nearby. "I can hear your hard thoughts all the way here" she said with a smile. The original smile as well. "Well darling, I have to be thinking all the time" he replied. "It must be tiring" she added as he sat down near her. "How are you?" he asked as she looked away. "I'm alright, given the circumstances" she replied with a steady voice. "I heard they're officially together now" she added.

It hurt, she would admit. She wouldn't deny it. Everyone already knew so there was no point on doing so. "It hurts. I won't deny it. But, there is no point on pinning over someone who doesn't love you the same way you do" Elijah held her hand. "I'm living my life though. I'm gonna be okay" she replied. He smiled. She was positive and tried to see the best of the situation. "To live is the rarest thing in the world. Most people just exist, that is all. But you, you Adara, you're living" he told her. She looked at him.

Elijah should've been the one she fell for. "Sometimes I  wished I had met you first. It's stupid I know but, I wish I did. Maybe if I had met your first I would actually be happy. I would not have a broken heart. I would be loved" Elijah shook his head. "Perhaps but..." he stopped. "I believe that everyone comes into our lives with a sole purpose. It could be to teach us a lesson, to make us learn something, to teach us love, to let go, to start over. It could mean many things. Klaus came into your love for a purpose and you into his for another one. It was bound to happen" Adara listened to the original. "You could be right" she said with a cheeky smile.

She let her head rest on his shoulder and he let her do that. "I wish I could stay like this forever" he smile. Elijah and Adara had a platonic relationship. There was no romantic love or need of sex, the two simply got along. Rebekah would say they were soulmates but not in the romantic type but the friendship one. Perhaps she was right. Kol was sure it was the romantic type. I guess we'll never know. That morning, she bid her goodbye to almost everyone. She didn't want to say goodbye at all, but she did. In her own time and to everyone single one. They would see each other again, someday.

It was the day. In a few hours she would be heading back to Forks. Kol had offered her revenge, she denied at first but everyone agreed and said she should teach them a lesson. The plan involved Elijah and Tyler. Everyone knew Tyler was the guy Caroline loved before Klaus. And Elijah was Klaus's brother and best friend. Elijah had said no at first but he also knew Klaus had to be taught a lesson.

Caroline saw them first. They were by the grill. He was looking at her, the same way he used to look at her. A smile playing in their lips.

Then, she saw him kiss her. A small yet passionate kiss.

The blonde girl felt a wave of jealousy hit her. Tyler and Adara might have been messing around to get back a Caroline but he liked the kiss. It wasn't in love but he couldn't deny Adara was very attractive. He was sure it was the hair. The red hair. And her bitchy attitude but mostly the hair. He thought Klaus was a utter fool for letting her go. The two simply kept their gaze on each other. The two smirked as they felt Caroline's eyes on her.

She kissed the hybrid one last time before walking away. Caroline followed her. "Really? I didn't take you for that type of girl, Adara" Caroline said, angry face and arms crossed. Adara looked bored and unimpressed. "Right. I forgot that's your thing" Adara retorted. "Are you doing this to get back at me? Because it's not working" Caroline stated, Adara stared at her and smile. "Right. Is that why you followed me and practically called me a whore?"Adara asked with a smirk. "Jealousy is not a good look on you" she added, with a smile plastered on her face. Caroline showed her vampire face. "Careful, Care" she said with a mocking tone. "Your insecurities are showing" she added before walking away.

Caroline appeared in front of her. "Ugh, just drop the drama, Caroline. I'm leaving" Adara said as she walked passed her. The blonde girl appeared in front of her again. "Klaus—" Adara cut her off. "I never want to hear the name Klaus Mikaelson ever again" Adara said as she walked passed Caroline, bumping on her shoulder. Adara didn't want to argue with Caroline nor talk about the shit that had happened between her and Klaus.

Caroline, once again appeared in front of her. "I thought everything was fine between us?" Caroline asked and Adara scoffed. Caroline did not just said with she had just said. "It was. Until you fucked my boyfriend" she replied with an annoyed look before walking away. She felt Caroline right behind her. Before the blonde girl could talk, Adara snapped her neck with magic. The girl walked peacefully to the Salvatore house. She had gotten a text that Klaus was by.

Elijah waited by the door. "I was beginning to get worried, darling" she playfully rolled her eyes before hugging the original. Elijah knew she was leaving and she knew she was too, their hug felt desperate as if they hadn't seen each other in years.

"I'm gonna miss you, Lijah"  he smiled before kissing the top of her head. "I'm gonna miss you too, darling" the two simply stared at each other's eyes.

Adara never saw Elijah ad anything more than a friend. She couldn't. Elijah felt the same. But, in that moment, it felt like they were in love. It didn't make sense, there was no other feelings other than friendship. Elijah was willing to risk it all and see. So,   He kissed her. A passionate, deep, slow and full of emotions kiss.

Klaus watched them. He watched as his brother kissed the girl he once loved or perhaps still loves. What's the saying? 'You don't know what you have until you loose it' and that saying was sounding right about now. The two pulled away from the kiss. "Maybe you were right" Elijah said. "If only I had met you first" he said with a sad smile. She looked at him too. She could feel some tears. She leaned against him. Their heads touching. "In another life, Elijah Mikaelson, I could be your girl" she said as she kissed him one last time.

Her friends watched them. Stefan and Damon had the car ready. She hugged everyone. "I'm so glad I got to spend the summer here. I met you all. And no matter what happened, I wouldn't have it any other way" everyone awed. "Group hug!" she said happily. "No I don't—" she cut Finn off as they all hug. In the end she hugged them all. She had a teary goodbye with all of them. She got on the backseat and looked back as Damon drove off. A part of her stayed in Mystic Falls.  "We'll see each other again, one day" she whispered as she closed her eyes and let the darkness take over.
