3 months later

riley and ethan sat in a park enjoying each other's company for the time being as they ate lunch. the two planned a last minute road trip as ethan decided to go apartment hunting.

"i have something to show you." riley spoke, digging around in her small backpack.

"i'm waiting." ethan chuckled as it took her forever to get whatever she was getting out.

finally, she pulled out a fresh new card that just so happened to be her license. "oh shit, when did this happen?" he grabbed the card, seeing if it was real or not.

"just yesterday, surprise." she grinned, feeling proud of herself.

ethan squeezed her hand softly. "this is great, baby. i'm proud of you."

"thanks."

"well since we're surprising people i have a surprise for you too." ethan smirked at the idea of his own surprise that he actually had planned.

"oh god, no." just when riley thought she was ahead of ethan, he always had something else up his sleeve.

"you have to stay here though. and absolutely no peaking, can you do that?" he questioned her as if it were a challenge for her to not cheat.

"ugh.. sure." riley sighed, preparing for what his surprise would be.

"that's a yes or no question, riles."

she laughed, waving him off. "yes, ethan."

"alright cover your eyes. i'll be back." he told her before walking off.

"mkay."

ethan went to his car, grabbing everything he needed to show riley. he felt like the best boyfriend and riley was going to least expect this. no more than three minutes, he was back at their spot ready to show her.

"okay, open." ethan stood in front of riley with a poster and a box with a new pair of vans inside.

riley's eyes lit up. she wasn't expecting a promposal at all. she read the sign in disbelief but also the fact it was the cutest thing she has ever seen. "what the fuck?"

"again, gonna need a yes or no." he told her even though he was more confident that she was gonna say yes. they were in a relationship, who else would he go with?

"are you kidding me? yes." riley stood up to hug him. ethan lifted her in his arms, kissing her for fuller effect. they even heard a few claps around them, reminding them they weren't the only ones in the park.

being her first prom, riley had no idea it was coming up so soon. the past few months had been ripping by and she was more happy than ever. "jeez, you always know how to win a girl over."

"just what i do best," ethan shrugged like it was nothing as they sat back on the picnic blanket they brought. "and you deserve the best."

riley laid on her back, stating up at ethan while putting a hand over her heart. "my heart."

he laughed as dramatic riley was coming out and laid on his side, hovering over her. "yeah it's mine."
