Chapter 7

Nyra's POV
_____________

"It's not what it looks like," I say to Damon as he approaches me.

"Did you dress up like this for me?" He says walking towards me almost as if I was prey, which made me very uncomfortable.

"No, this was the closest place I could go," I said while backing up against the wall.

He lifted both his arms and placed them on the wall next to both sides of my head trapping me. I didn't want to give him any reaction, so I effectively controlled my heartbeat.

"Are you sure?" He asked while looking at my lips.

I looked at his eyes and put my hands against his chest, which took him back.

I sighed and pushed him away from me.

"Yeah, I'm very sure... I just need to borrow some clothes"

He did his signature smirk and gestured his hands towards the stairs.

"Follow me"

Who pushes an innocent naked girl against the wall... what a weirdo.

He then led me into a room that smelled exactly like him.

He went to his closet and pulled out an oversized shirt and some boxers.

I'm guessing they're his.

"Here you go," He says while handing them to me.

"Thanks," I gave him a small smile before leaving the room.

"Where are you going?" He asks following me.

I enter another room close by and push my hands against Damon's chest, stopping him from entering.

"Uh-uh. I'm going to change and you are staying outside" I push him while closing the door.

"C'mon is this how you're going to treat the person who let you borrow his clothes?"

I laugh at his response and quickly change.

I open the door to Damon's face super close to mine.

I slightly gulp and squeeze past him.

"Huh. My clothes look better on you than they do on me," He says while following me to the huge living room.

I go and pick up my shoes, that I carried on my way here.

I sit down on the chair near the fireplace and put them on.

Damon stood staring at me and then sat on the handrest of the sofa.

"So, what are you doing here?"

I looked up at him while I finished tying my shoes.

"It's a pretty long story"

He just smirks.

"Hit me"

------------------------------------

After I explained to Damon about my first shifting experience, he drove me home where I was then scolded by Elena for being with Damon.

I waved her off and went into the guest room, which is now mine to claim, so I could go to sleep.

The room was an extension of the house. It used to be Grayson Gilbert's office, but Elena told me he cleared it out to be a guest room since he had a big office at his private practice.

It was too big for it to be an office, It even had a big closet

I ended up waking up to Bonnie and Elena entering my room. The beautiful Bennett witch wanted to explain to us her plan.

"Now that you've got this back, what are you going to do with it?" Elena asked Bonnie about the moonstone that I was fiddling with.

Elena was standing up while Bonnie and I were sitting down on the bed.

"Right now, it's what's binding the sun and moon curse. If I can figure out a way to remove the spell from the stone --"

"The stone becomes useless" I cut Bonnie off.

She looks at me and nods.

"And according to Katherine, Klaus becomes vengeful" Elena comments.

I shake my head at her response.

"Only if he finds out" I reply to Elena.

She rolled her eyes and looked towards Bonnie.

"Bonnie, can't this wait? Stefan is stuck in the tomb with Katherine. We've gotta get him out"

"Stefan wants me to focus on this"

"We'll don't listen to him. He thinks he's protecting me, but he's wrong"

I didn't want to continue to be a part of the conversation so I fell backward on the bed and began to toss the moonstone.

"I'm taking Stefan's side with this one. We're not gonna let you get used in some creepy sacrifice ritual"

I hear the door open and I look at Jeremy who interrupted their discussion.

"What are you guys arguing about?"

Bonnie looks at Jeremy and then focuses her gaze back on Elena.

She then grabs the moonstone from my grasp.

"We're not arguing about anything," Bonnie says and then stands up while hiding the moonstone in her purse.

Bonnie looks at Jeremy knowingly and I suspect it's because they have a plan.

"I need a coffee," Bonnie says standing up.

I heard her heartbeat race.

I smirked and went along with it.

"I need to use the restroom"

I walk out of the room with Bonnie and head to the restroom while listening in on Elena and Jeremy's conversation.

"Why are you on some suicide mission?"

"I'm trying to prevent everyone else from getting hurt"

"Oh, so bringing Klaus the moonstone so you can get yourself killed is okay?"

While they were talking, I was changing and putting my fake glasses on.

I then get out of the restroom and go downstairs for some coffee.

After Bonnie mentioned it, I started to crave some.

I poured myself a cup and heard Elena walking down the stairs.

I take a sip before walking towards the front door.

"Where are you going?" Bonnie asks Elena while she's going down the stairs.

Elena stopped and I managed to hear her heartbeat speed up.

She's acting like she's been caught doing something bad. Super suspicious.

"Umm... to see Stefan," She says while nodding I roll my eyes and stand next to Bonnie.

"You're lying"

Elena rolls her eyes in response trying to play it off.

"No, I'm not," She says walking a few steps down the stairs.

Bonnie blocks her from reaching the floor.

"Really?... Tell your face"

Elena looks at us in confusion.

"Are you serious?"

Jeremy walks down the stairs while smirking.

"She took the moonstone"

Elena looks at him in shock and then moves her gaze to me and Bonnie.

"How did you---" Elena started but was cut off by Bonnie.

"We tested you and you failed"

Elena looks at all of us and scoffs.

"Klaus killed Katherine's entire family just because she crossed him. I can't let that happen" Elena defends herself.

Bonnie suspiciously pulled me gently aside with her to clear Elena's path.

Elena didn't think any of it, grabbing my arm and pulling me to the front door.

She opens the door and tries to move past it but is hit by an invisible wall.

She pushes her hands against it and turns around looking at us accusingly.

"What did you do?" She asks while looking straight at Bonnie.

"It's for the best Elena"

Elena scoffs and puts her hand against the barrier in hopes of being able to get through.

------

After Elena stopped her attempts at trying to leave, we all went to the living room to keep an eye on her.

I wasn't in on the plan, but I was smart enough to figure it out.

I hear a car arrive and footsteps near the front door.

I hear the front door open and close.

I turned along with Elena to see who walked into our home.

Damon smirked and walked towards us.

"You should really lock your door," He says while stopping near the entrance of the living room.

Elena crosses her arms and pouts.

"Oh come on pouty, at least give me 2 points for ingenuity"

She looks at him in annoyance.

"Do you think this is funny?"

"Yes, Elena. I find hilarity in the lengths that I have to go to repeatedly save your life"

"What did Stefan say about this?"

"He had a good laugh"

"And what did he say about Elijah still being alive?" I pipe in before Elena could respond.

I was genuinely curious about what they discussed about the new hot problem.

He sat next to me on the sofa while wrapping his arm around my shoulder.

"Yeah, that. I didn't tell him"

Elena angrily leans forward to look at Damon from beside me.

"Why not?"

"Well, A he can't do anything about it, and B... what I just said" He looks at her then at me.

"Where's Bonnie?" He asks while looking around.

"I thought she was meeting you," Jeremy said while walking into the living room.

"No, She's on moonstone duty and I'm on... Elena and Nyra patrol" Damon replied while nodding towards us.

"Hey, me too?" I look at him in annoyance.

I didn't do anything what the hell?

"And who's on Tyler Lockwood and the full moon?" Jeremy asked Damon.

Damon looks at me before turning towards Jeremy.

"Vampire Barbie asked me if she could handle it and I said why not? I figure if she screwed up, He'd bite her and then I'll be rid of two of my problems"

"Wait, tonight is a full moon?" I stare at him in slight surprise.

Damon's cell phone starts to ring.

He grabs it while replying to my question.

"Yep, but you were too absorbed in all of your twin's suicidal tendencies to notice"

He gets up and leaves the room to answer the call.

I can't believe I forgot about the full moon.

I shake my head and hear a small part of Damon's phone call.

He's heading towards the grill to deal with a werewolf problem.

I've got some experience with that.

I stand up while tying my hair in a ponytail, deciding to follow him.

Damon walks into the room and looks towards me and Elena.

"Change of plans. You babysit." He says pointing to Jeremy and then moving his gaze to Elena.

"Hey, you know, you should get out, Enjoy the sun" Damon starts while Jeremy moves on the sofa and puts his head on Elena's lap.

"Oh, wait. You can't"

Elena angrily throws a pillow towards Damon while Jeremy and I start to chuckle.

Elena angrily pushes Jeremy towards the floor and this causes me to laugh.

I soon stopped laughing and looked towards Damon.

"I'm coming with you," I say while grabbing my leather jacket. (Outfit is above or on the side)

He shrugs while smirking.

"If you can get past the door"

"what do you mean?" I look at him surprised and walk towards the front door.

I put my hands up cautiously and slowly approached the doorway. I expected to feel a barrier but I just tripped through, causing Damon and Jeremy to laugh.

"Stop laughing you assholes!"

---------------------------------

"Can you compel me a drink?" I asked Damon.

Alaric chuckled in amusement.

"No, you're underage" I frown at his response.

They're so mean.

Suddenly a strong scent fills my nose.

I look towards the direction the smell is coming from and see a blonde woman talking to the busboy I nicknamed Blue-eyes.

"Hmm, Mason's mystery woman," Damon says while humming.

"Where is Mason anyway?" I asked Damon.

He kept his view on the woman.

"Decomposing in his truck"

"Wow," I start to shake my head along with Alaric.

"So, you think she's a werewolf?" Alaric asks Damon.

"Based on her scent she is one" I reply to him but I'm ignored.

What is with everyone being rude today?

"Well, I hope not, being that it's a full moon, Alaric. But we should definitely find out" Damon said while pulling out a familiar-looking plant. It was in a suspicious ziploc bag.

The scent was strong.

I snickered before taking a sip of my Pepsi because if anyone saw Damon with the baggie, they would probably think he had weed.

"And what is that?" Alaric questioned him.

"Wolfsbane," I said.

All I gained was surprised looks.

"What, I used to be a hunter. Plus, my senses are up to 100 right now with the full moon, so why not put them to good use?" I shrug.

The smell of alcohol started to become more pungent from behind me, so I turned to see what it was.

A woman was walking by with a tray full of shots and I managed to sneakily steal one.

I raised it to my lips and drank it in one gulp.

"You boys do what you want, I'm going to find someone who will get me a real drink," I told them while taking off my jacket.

I left them to go to the bar to see if I could convince the bartender.

I told him my name and he told me his, which is Polluc Hanssen.

I introduced myself to him and we had a very interesting conversation.

He then started to tell me some of his experiences and life story, I didn't mind. Although it seemed as if he was withholding some important information.

I mentioned some of my life stories and I excluded everything that had to do with the supernatural, and we bonded. His stories were somehow even more crazier than mine.

I then asked for something to drink which was water at first until he sneaked something a little bit stronger.

He managed to get me some Vodka in my red water cup.

I thanked him with a crumpled 50-dollar bill.

Next thing you know, someone sits two seats to my left.

In the corner of my eye, I saw that the blonde werewolf sat a seat away from me.

I wonder why she chose to sit there instead of the other 15 seats that were empty.

She ordered her drink after the bartender gave me a refill.

"Well hello" I heard Ric say as he sat on the other side of the blonde werewolf.

He leaned against the bar acting drunk.

"Can I have a scotch and whatever this beautiful woman is drinking?" He asked Pollux.

He looked at Alaric weirdly before nodding.

"Oh, no, one's my limit"

The blonde responded glancing at Alaric and her drink.

"Oh, come on, it's not like I'm a freak. I'm just being friendly to someone new in town" Alaric said with a drunken smile.

She slightly smiled before agreeing.

"Ok, if you insist. How do you know I'm new?" She said turning her body towards Alaric.

"Because I have never seen you here before"

I chuckle from beside her.

"And it's cause he's here every night" I piped in from beside her, so I can try to be in on the plan.

I felt an arm wrap around me and I smirked.

"Excuse me, is this guy bothering you?" Damon asked the blonde in fake concern.

Alaric keeping up with the act waved his drink around.

"I'm not bothering anybody"

I lightly chucked at the sound of his voice.

"Perfect, well. Do it elsewhere" Damon said while squeezing my shoulder in warning.

He unwrapped his arm and leaned on the bar while facing the blonde.

"Don't worry, He's harmless. You know he's sort of the town drunk and, you know when we get tired of him, we just put him in a cab and send him back where he came from" Damon said to the blonde in a low voice.

"Yeah, I found him begging outside of my house drunk asking for my mom back after she left him," I said in a serious tone.

Damn, I love acting.

"Please don't talk to me like I'm not here," Alaric said in annoyance.

Damon looked at him in fake annoyance.

"Why are you here?" Damon shot back at him.

It was silent until the blonde broke it.

"Thank you for the drink," She said raising the glass at Alaric.

He smiled and left the bar.

"Hey Nyra, my shift is over. You want to play a quick game of darts?" Pollux asked me.

I smiled and nodded yes.

"Cool let's go"

After a quick game of darts, Pollux left so I went to the table Alaric was at, to keep an eye on Damon and the blonde werewolf.

With my werewolf hearing, I eavesdropped on Damon's conversation with the blonde.

"Yeah, he's a great guy," Damon said to the blonde while smiling.

"He's missing," The blonde said not joking around.

Damon looked at her in fake confusion.

"What do you mean? Like... I mean, missing missing?" Damon said in fake concern.

I rolled my eyes not believing that this blonde was oblivious to their plan.

"How do you know Mason?"

"Friends of friends" Damon responded to her while gesturing his glass towards the blonde's drink.

She hesitantly grabs her glass and plays with the straw.

Meanwhile, Damon looks towards me and Alaric without hiding it.

I rolled my eyes at him and seeing how it's going so far, they might fall off by the end of the night.

"You know, I'm tight with the sheriff. If there's anything I can do to help locate Mason, I will. He's a great guy. And after his brother's funeral, he stuck around and helped his nephew and--" Damon started but then was cut off by the Blonde.

"Tyler?"

"yep. Mason was with him the whole time. He helped him through all that grief." He then paused and not so subtly pointed out her drink.

"you haven't touched your drink," He said in faux concern.

I rolled my eyes and stood up.

I walked away from Alaric towards a group of loud teenagers so I could blend in a bit.

I heard the blond hesitate to say what she wanted to do next.

"You know, I'm not much of a drinker. I should get going"

"Oh, come on. Look, one drink"

She looked at Damon before grabbing her cup.

"You know. It'll help me sleep"

she responded.

"To sleep"

"To sleep"

Both of them said together while clinking their glasses.

I tensed up hearing her heartbeat race.

She's definitely on to us.

The blonde raises the glass to her lips before slamming it onto the bar.

"You fool," She told Damon.

Damon shifted his gaze towards Alaric before moving it towards me.

"You think you're clever, don't you?" She said with slight anger.

"What do you want with Mason Lockwood?" Damon asked threateningly.

"He's my friend"

"Well, I'm sorry to inform you that you probably won't find him"

"And why not?"

"You should leave town"

"Are you threatening me? on a full moon, how stupid are you"

Alaric walked towards them to interrupt them before it got more intense.

"Damon, how about that second round?" He asked Damon.

Damon looked at him angrily.

"I think we're done, Ric," He said harshly before moving his harsh gaze to the blonde.

"You think I'm afraid of you?"

"No, I don't. That's your vampire arrogance." The blonde said while getting up.

I started walking towards them.

I was not surprised she knew about us.

"You should be, I sniffed you out the moment you entered this bar. Along with your pathetic wolfsbane," She said while looking towards Ric.

"See, I've been at this a long time and any other night of the month, the situation would be reversed, but tonight... is not the night to pick a fight with me... You've been marked"

Anger suddenly rushed through me, probably because of the approaching full moon. I grabbed her wrist and pulled her towards me while glowing my eyes.

"I'd be careful if I were you, you aren't the only wolf here," I said growling lowly.

She tried to pull her wrist but my grip was strong.

"So, you've been warned, bitch" I said letting go of her wrist.

She got her jacket and quickly left angrily.

We all looked at her until she left our view.

"We should probably leave"

-----------------------------------------------

After we left the Grill, I told Damon and Alaric that I was going home to sleep.

But I was planning to chain myself up in the forest.

I had a bag of chains that I got from Caroline and wrapped myself around a tree.

I grabbed a very heavy lock and clasped it around both ends of the chain.

The key was in my pocket in a reachable distance, in case I was able to get control in time.

I stood there for a couple of minutes until I felt a rush of anger and pain go through my body.

I looked up and stared at the moon while howling.

I need to find my anchor.

I started to think about my family, but it only made me angrier.

Angry at Klaus and all the supernatural bullshit. I was upset that I wasn't able to see my family... to even say goodbye to Allison. One of the last people I saw was someone who hurt me, which was Derek...

My childhood memories then started to flash across my mind, and it soon focused on the one that meant the most to me.

I was having a panic attack at one of my ballet recitals in Beacon Hills. It was from the time I was staying with Kate and my parents had promised to be here but I didn't spot them in the crowd.

"I can't do this. They promised they would be here," I clenched my fist and breathed out rapidly. A group of my classmates laughed at me but they were soon blocked by his form.

"Don't pay attention to them okay? You can do this" He grabbed my clasped hands and looked at me reassuringly.

"I can't"

"You're the bravest girl I know. You can do this. Just forget that anyone is watching, okay?"

"There's too many people out there" I shake my head rapidly, but he slowly turns my head towards him and shakes his head with a reassuring smile.

"It's just me and you."

I close my eyes and repeat it as if it was a mantra.

"Just me and you"

I felt myself slowly shifting back.

I just sat there trying to come to terms with the fact that one of my most precious memories was with Derek, and it ended up helping me gain control.

I shook off the annoying feelings seeping in and started to focus on getting rid of these chains. The threat of the werewolf from the bar came to mind. I hope I wasn't too late.

I quickly slid my hand into my pocket for the key and unlocked the chains.

I then went to the backpack filled with my extra clothes and shoes.

I slid it over my shoulder and ran towards the direction of the boarding house.

I have to get to Damon fast before the wolf bitch attacks him.

I ran with my werewolf speed and seemed to get there in time.

I dropped the bag and ran at full speed towards the other wolf, shifting into my wolf form in mid-air. (A/N: RIP her clothes)

We tousled in a storm of fangs and fur, breaking some furniture while we were at it.

Having enough of her, I snarled loudly and bit a huge piece of the wolf's shoulder.

I spit out the piece and stood in front of Damon and Rose.

The wolf then jumped out of the window severely injured.

I turn towards Damon and Rose and notice that Rose has a nasty bite on her shoulder.

Damon had a bloody sword on his right arm but dropped it to check on Rose.

I felt kind of awkward being a wolf so I went to my bag and shifted back in Damon's room.

When I came downstairs I saw Rose crying in relief while Damon was hugging her on the floor.

A sudden wave of guilt filled my body.

I wasn't fast enough.

My eyes teared up at the thought of not being able to save someone.

"You're going to be okay"
