WAREHOUSE

Sam and Castiel are still trying to get into the warehouse.

"I checked all the windows and doors. No luck. What about you? You find anything?" Sam Says

"I think so." He lights up his hand blue and reveals an enochian spell etched above the doorway. "It's Enochian. I believe it's some sort of riddle. "Why is six afraid of seven?" Now, I assume it's because seven is a prime number, and prime numbers can be intimidating." Castiel Says

"It's because seven eight nine." Sam Says Then the door opens with a loud creak

"It's wordplay. And the answer is the key, like the doors of Durin in "Lord of the Rings." Castiel Says

"Wait a second. You know about "The Lord of the Rings?" Sam Says

"I'm very pop-culture savvy now." Castiel Says
Then Sam's phone rings

"Hey." Sam Says

"How is he?" Dean Asks

"He's, uh...He's Cas. What about you? How's it going?" Sam Asks

"Great. Went out, got some air. Met an old friend. Say hi to Sam, Tessa." Dean Says

"Your brother's a psycho, Sam." Tessa Says

"Ha, ha. Stop." Dean Says

"What's going on?" Sam Asks

"You first." Dean Says

COMMANDER BUILDING

In the Commander Room, Flagstaff is talking to Hannah, Elena and The red shirt Angel.

"I know he's the commander's friend, and I know we're supposed to pretend we like him, but that ape put a knife to my throat." Flagstaff Says As Dean and Tessa walk in

"Tessa? What are you doing?" Hannah Asks

"You want to tell her?" Dean Says

Tessa remains silent so Dean pulls back the top of her shirt to reveal the sigil which he has obviously cut a gash across to mark it out.

"Oh, God." Hannah Says

"There's no God. There's only Castiel." Tessa Says

"Oh, and you're done." Dean Says

Dean walks Tessa down a hallway and puts her in a warded room, Elena, Hannah and the others follow.

"You wounded her." Hannah Says

"More like "defused," okay? I cut up that old testament graffiti she carved into herself. I figured that would break the spell." Dean Says

"And now... What will you do to her?" He Asks

Dean pulls an angel blade from his jacket "Guess."

"Torture. Predictable." Flagstaff Says

"Dean, please you don't have to do this." Elena Says

"We need to know if there are other bombers out there." Dean Says

"And what is torturing going to get us right now?" Elena Asks

"It's gotten us a lot." Dean Says

"No. I won't allow it. I know what Tessa was planning. It's horrible, but there's only one person who can punish her." Hannah Says

"Let me guess. Yea big, trench coat, sensible shoes?" Dean Says

"You have to understand that Castiel is the only thing holding us together. A month ago, half the angels in this place were trying to kill the other half. Castiel has given us a purpose. But more than that, he has given us a way to live in peace. We have rules. Order. If I let you take matters into your own hands, what's to stop one of them from doing the same? You can talk to her. You should talk to her. But leave the Blade outside." Hannah Says

"Are you asking or telling?" Dean Says

"We're not asking." He Says

Dean stares evenly at all the angel before him without blinking an eye. He smoothly flips the blade handle first and hands it to Hannah, He then walks calmly into the room with Tessa.

WAREHOUSE

Sam and Castiel are searching the warehouse.

"You sure you don't want to go back, Cas? Look, if Dean is right about Tessa..." Sam Says

"No, I, uh...I do. I just... give me a second." Castiel Says

Sam noticing some writing on the wall, shines his flashlight up to it  "Only the penitent man shall pass"? Cas, wait!"

Cas falls to his knees just in time to avoid two huge spinning saw blades which spring out from the wall about neck height.

"The Last Crusade." Sam Says

COMMANDER CENTER

Dean sits across from Tessa at the table, while Elena and Hannah stands to the side.

"Okay. Well, let's start with an easy one. Who are you working for?" Dean Asks

"Castiel." Tessa Says

"Liar." Hannah Says

"People like you, they never understand. Sacrifices have to be made." Tessa Says

"So you go after one of the bad guys, and if a few humans get microwaved, no big deal, right?" Dean Says

"In the grand scheme, they don't matter." Tessa Says

"Oh, Tessa, you are so wrong." Dean Says

"When Castiel came to me and told me what I had to do, he said I was chosen because I was strong. Others...they couldn't handle this. They're too weak." Tessa looks at Hannah

Hannah glares at Tessa angrily then leaps at her but Elena puts her arm up to stop her. Dean gets up and grabs her shoulders and shoves her out the door and into the hallway. They all steps out to and closes the door behind him.

"Settle down!" Dean Says

"Is -- do you think she's telling the truth?" Hannah Asks

"She thinks she is." Dean Says

WAREHOUSE

Sam and Castiel round a corner and there is a glowing door in front of them.

"Sam. We found it." Castiel Says

"What?" Sam Says

"It's the door to heaven." Castiel Says

"Seriously?" Sam Says

"What else would Metatron go to such great lengths to protect? I can hear it. It's calling to me, Sam. If we control this door, we can take the fight to Metatron. We may not even need to fight at all." Castiel Says

"Cas, wait." Sam Says

Castiel opens the door and it is revealed to be a room with atrocious party decorations. Sam walks over to a table and reads from a card.

"Welcome to your own personal heaven, Castiel. Good luck finding the real one." Sam Says

"But... Why?" Sam Asks

Sam turns around to talk to Castiel but starts when he sees a badly burned man leaning against the wall next to the door.

"It's Josiah. He reeks of holy oil." Castiel Says

Sam notices an empty bucket of holy oil hung over the door "Yeah. Looks like he got "Home Alone"-ed."

"So, all of this -- it was a a lie." Castiel Says

Josiah jerks to consciousness and grabs Castiel's wrist.

"Supposed to be here...Gate... He told me... After Ezra, he told me that I should come to him. Metatron told me that I could go home. I just wanted to go home." Josiah Says

"Here. Let me—" Castiel Says

"No! I would rather die than owe my life to you, Castiel. You play at being noble. You play at being one of us. But I look into your eyes... And I don't see an angel staring back at me." Josiah Says then dies

WAREHOUSE

Elena and Dean are still outside the interrogation room, She see's that Dean's pacing back and forth and speaks up.

"Hey are you okay?" Elena Asks

"Yeah I'm good." Dean Says

"No your not, Dean whatever's going on with you I'm right here you can tell me." Elena Says holding his hand, Dean looks at her

"Lena, there's nothing wrong with me...look all I want right now is for Metatron to be dead. I already got Abaddon...I need to get Metatron next." Dean Says

"But why does it need to be you, your not alone on this one...we're all in this together." Elena Says

"I'm gonna make this right, for all of us." Dean Says

"Just don't do anything stupid in there, remember it's just the two of us." Elena Says

"I know." Dean Says

Elena lets go of Dean's hand and he walks back into the room with Tessa, she turns around to face him.

"Where's your friend?" Tessa Asks

"Just you and me now." Dean Says

"Hmm I see you and the brunette are still friends, or is it something more after all this time?" Tessa Asks

"I don't want to talk about Her. Let's talk about us, I mean, we got history, yeah?" Dean Says

"Sure. I still remember our meet-cute. You were dying." Tessa Says

"Good times. Here's the deal. I like you, Tess, okay? For an angel. But tell me, why are you doing this?" Dean Says

"Castiel." Tessa Says

"No, forget Cas. Why are you doing this? What would make a person want to pop their top, huh? I mean, look, I've been in bad shape. I have. But I have never been that damn low." Dean Says

"I guess I just can't take the screaming." Tessa Says

"Who's screaming?" Dean Asks

"All of them. The lost souls. The ones that can't get into heaven now that it's been boarded up. I hear them. They are so confused. They're in so much pain. All I want to do is help them. It's what I do. It's my job. But I can't. So I suffered... Until death, nothingness. Suddenly, it didn't seem so bad. It seemed quiet." Tessa Says

"So, why don't you just jam an angel blade in your throat and call it a day?" Dean Says

"I thought about it. But I was too weak. Till Castiel gave me a reason to die." Tessa Says

"Yeah. See, that just doesn't sound like the Cas I know." Dean Says

"But doesn't it, though? And the Cas you know, would he raise an army of angels without telling you? 'Cause this Cas did. I'll tell you a secret. There's more out there...Like me. So many more." Tessa Says

"You got names?" Dean Asks

"That would ruin all the fun." Tessa Says

"No. No, see...the fun's just getting started." Dean Says

Dean pulls the First Blade from his jacket, Tessa starts back.

"Dean, what have you done?" Tessa Asks

"What I had to." Dean Says

"Welcome to the club." She sprints at Dean and impales herself on the blade in his hand "Thank you." Tessa Says As She dies in a bright light

Elena, Hannah and company burst into the room as Dean feels the high from the blade kill. Later Dean is handcuffed to a chair in the warded room. He has duct tape over his mouth and his nose is bleeding. Hannah opens the door as Castiel, Elena and Sam burst in.

"He put up a fight." Hannah Says

"Get out." Castiel Says

Sam moves quickly to Dean and rips off the duct tape.

"AH! You should have seen the other 10 guys." Dean Says

"They said you killed Tessa?" Castiel Says

"Not so much. She knifed herself." Dean Says

"Yeah? Why would she do that, Dean?" Sam Asks removing the cuffs

"I don't know, Sam. She was saying all kinds of crap." Dean Says

"So that's why you brought out the First Blade?" Sam Says

"They told you about that, huh?" Dean Says

"We had a deal." Sam Says

"Yeah, well, it was a stupid deal." Dean Says

"Really? 'Cause if you'd stuck to it, Tessa would still be alive. Because without her, we ain't got jack." Elena Says

"Yeah, you think I don't know that? You think I wanted that to happen?" Dean Says

"I don't know, Dean. Did you?" Sam Says

"All right, that's enough. Stop it." Castiel Says Then Hannah enters

"Commander, I'm sorry, but you have a call...From Metatron." Hannah Says

Castiel, Elena and the brothers walk into the war room as Metatron waits patiently on video call.

"Castiel. Bet you're not happy to see me." Metatron Says

"Is anyone ever?" Dean Says

"Dean, always with the B-grade '80s-action-movie wit." Metatron Says

"What do you want, Metatron?" Elena Asks

"Just to tell ass-tiel, there, that I'm still alive. His bomber failed." Metatron Says

"My bomber?" Castiel Says

"The crazy guy. Big knife. Kablooey. I'm fine, thanks for asking, but Gadreel is wounded, and Tyrus - R.I.P. His followers are not your biggest fans, by the way. They've all come over to my team." Metatron Says

"I didn't send anyone to kill you." Castiel Says

"Oh, stop lying, Castiel." Metatron Says

"Who are you to lecture me on lying? Your deception led to the fall." Castiel Says

"I did what I had to do. I have always done what I have to do, for God and for the angels." Metatron Says

"Sure. Yeah, you're mother Teresa with neck beard." Dean Says

"What I did was neither good nor bad. It was necessary -- a small hardship to make us all stronger, to make us a family again." Metatron Says

"Yeah, except for the angels you had Gadreel kill." Sam Says

"Okay, yes. Maybe I got a little carried away at first, but those days are over. A near-death experience makes you re-evaluate. So, one time only, I'm offering amnesty. Every angel, no matter what their sin, may join me and return to heaven. I will be their God, and they can be my heavenly host." Metatron Says

"Why would we follow you?" Hannah Says

"Well, look around. You've seen earth. You've had a taste of free will. I got to ask you -- do you like it? I mean, the way you've flocked off to follow Castiel tells me you need to follow someone. It's in your DNA. But Cas -- he's not what you think he is. He sends angels out to die. Have you told them about your stolen Grace, Castiel? How it's fading away, and when it burns out, so will you? So...No, then. I'm not the best, but I'm the best you've got. You want to stay with Castiel, fine, but he's playing you, because at the end of the day, the only thing he cares about is himself and the Hardy boys there. You've got a choice to make. Make the right one." Metatron
clicks off

"He's lying." Castiel Says

"About the Grace?" Hannah Asks

"It's complicated." Castiel Says

"So he wasn't lying." Flagstaff Says

"He was about everything else. He...you believe me, don't you?" Castiel Says

"I want to believe you, but I...we need proof." Hannah Says

"Name it." Castiel Says

"Punish him." Hannah Says

"What?" Dean Says

"He murdered Tessa. He broke our rules." Hannah Says

"Y'all can all go to hell." Dean he turns to leave but is stopped by angels

"Dean." Castiel Says

Sam and Elena goes to Dean's aid but is also subdued but angels.

"Hey, wait a sec--" Sam Says

"You gave us order, Castiel, and we gave you our trust. Don't lose it over one man." She hands a blade to Castiel "This is justice." Hannah Says

Castiel takes the blade and holds it as he considers. Dean stares at him in shock, Castiel struggles but then decides.

"No. I can't." Castiel Says

"Goodbye, Castiel." Hannah Says

All the angel quietly file out of the war room leaving Dean, Castiel, Elena and Sam standing there alone.

METATRON'S OFFICE

Metatron enters his office talking on the phone, Gadreel waits in one of the chairs.

"You're right. There is no other side. Well, welcome aboard." He hangs up "Well... the first of Castiel's flock has come around. The rest will follow." Metatron Says

"You should have told me what our elite unit was for." Gadreel Says

"Why? It was none of your business." Metatron Says

"Tessa, Constantine -- I recruited them, and you brainwashed them into blowing themselves up." Gadreel Says

"So? Well, that's an old writer's trick -- flipping the script. You start by building up a seemingly unbeatable enemy, like the death star, or a rival angel with a bigger army. That way, I look like the underdog. But then, oh, no! The competition gets greedy. He starts pushing things too much. With the help of my combustible double agents. And then, after a rousing speech, his true weakness is revealed. He's in love with humanity and now...I'm inevitable." Metatron Says

"What about Josiah?" Gadreel Asks

"Mm. He was a loose end. I -- I told him where the gate was...Before we moved it. I just wish Cas had walked into one of those traps. Anyway, point is --while everyone else is playing checkers, I'm playing monopoly, and I always build a hotel on Boardwalk. And I always win." Metatron Says

BUNKER MAIN ROOM

The ride back from the commander center was quiet, no one bothered to even make conversation. Later Castiel, Dean, Elena and Sam enter the bunker.

"So, Dean, uh...are we gonna talk about this, or what?" Sam Says

"About what? Yeah, I lied, but you were being an infant." Dean Says

"Wow. Even for you, that apology sucked." Sam Says

"Oh, I'm not apologizing. I'm telling you how it's gonna be." Dean Says

"Dean, that Blade—" Elena Says

"That Blade's the only thing that can kill Metatron, and I am the only one who can use it...so from here on out, I'm calling the shots. Capisce? Look, until I jam that Blade through that douchebag's heart, we are not a team. This is a dictatorship. Now, you don't have to like it, but that's how it's gonna be." Dean Says

Sam and Elena looks angry at him, then they walk back to their rooms while Dean goes up the stairs and sits down across from Castiel.

"So, batteries..." Dean Says

"I'm fine." Castiel Says

"No, you're not. How long you got?" Dean Asks

"Long enough to destroy Metatron, I hope. But without an army..." Castiel Says

"Well, hey, you still got us." Dean Says

"Dean. Those bombers -- you don't really think that I -" Castiel Says

"Cas, you just gave up an entire army for one guy. No, there's no way that you blew those people away." Dean Says

"You really believe we four will be enough?" Castiel Says

"We always have been." Dean Says

Sam and Elena enters the room at the same time as Gadreel does. He shouts a warning and Dean and Castiel leap to the defense.

"Guys!" Sam Says

"I'm not here to fight. I thought about what you said. You're right. Metatron, he's...something needs to be done." Gadreel Says

"And we should trust you why?" Elena Asks

"Because I can give him to you. I know where Metatron is. I know everything. I know the bombers. They were his agents, not yours. You don't trust me, fine. I understand. I've...made mistakes. But haven't you? Haven't we all? At least give me a chance." Gadreel Says

Dean, Elena and Sam exchange looks, Dean steps forward and extends his left hand to shake Gadreel. But as soon as the angel grasps it Dean yanks the First Blade out of his jacket and slashes Gadreel deeply across the chest. Sam, Elena and Castiel leaps at Dean and hold him back as he snarls under the full power of the blade and Gadreel falls heavily to the ground.
