Jungkook sighed, his head throbbing with stress. He read Jimin's letter again, trying to fathom why it had taken three agonizing days to arrive.
"How can it take this long for a simple letter? Why didn't he just call or text me?" He muttered, rubbing his forehead with frustration.
"Don't stress, Jungkook. Maybe Jimin was too nervous to talk about it over the phone. And sending a letter gave him time to gather his thoughts," Hoseok said, still engrossed in his phone.
"Who are you texting, hyung?"
Jungkook asked, tracing the date on the letter with a sigh.
"Trying to arrange a jet with Yoongi. Don't you want to help Jimin? I know you're not blood-related, but..."
"That's the problem, hyung. I'm terrified. We're miles away, and his wedding is tonight. Even if we rush, we won't make it in time. We don't have a plan,"
Jungkook exclaimed, anger and panic rising in his voice. He wanted to scream at the inefficiency of postal services.
"We can brainstorm on the way. And my high school friend Namjoon is in Seoul; he's wealthy and well-connected. He'll help us. Trust me," Hoseok reassured, and Jungkook nodded reluctantly.
"Yoongi just messaged. We have five minutes to get ready. Let's go," Hoseok urged.
"Yeah, I need to help Jimin. I can't live with the regret of not trying," Jungkook muttered, shoving the letter into his pocket as they rushed out.

"
This way," Jungkook shouted urgently, his voice cracking with emotion as he propelled Hoseok towards the beach where the wedding festivities were underway. Namjoon and a handful of close friends trailed behind them, their footsteps echoing on the soft sand underfoot.
As they approached the beach, the scene unfolded before them: guests mingling, laughter carrying on the breeze, and the soft glow of fairy lights casting a magical ambiance over the evening.
"IS THE WEDDING OVER?" Jungkook's voice pierced through the tranquil atmosphere, drawing curious gazes from the attendees who turned to regard him with a mix of surprise and concern.
Everyone was silent, their eyes observing the intruder with judgement, murmuring if this boy had some 'affair' kinda thing with either of the man getting married today.
"I think you might be late," a woman, presumably a guest, remarked dryly, her gaze lingering on Jungkook's disheveled appearance in his hoodie and sweatpants as she sipped on the wine in her hand elegantly.
Jungkook's heart sank like a stone in his chest. He couldn't believe it. It can't be true! This mustn't be happening. After traveling so far, under such chaotic circumstances, could he have missed his brother's wedding?
Did he fail his responsibilities as a brother?
Was he really not able to help Jimin?
He felt like gripping each strand of hair out of his scalp with frustration, his eyes starting to sting a little at the corner. He felt as if someone was choking his throat as he felt a huge lump in his throat. Why? Just why did it had to end like this?
"Hobi... I failed,"
He mumbled, fisting his palms as his nail dig hardly into the soft skin. Jungkook felt numb and useless at that moment.
"I-I... " He looked up to the once clear sky which was now slowly being dominated by dark clouds. A sigh leaving past his chapped lips as started acknowledging that what really happened.
Memories flooded his mind, memories of a life shaped by loneliness in the confines of an orphanage, until Jimin entered his world like a beacon of light. Jimin, with his infectious smile and unwavering kindness, had been the first person to truly see Jungkook, to care for him as family when no one else did.
The orphanage Jungkook stayed in, never actually gave a shit about him. It was Jimin who would attend his each necessity as a guardian, as a brother, as a family.
They were so close that once he thought he was in love with Jimin, Only to be told by the latter that they'd something better and apart from romantic relationship, something like a family.
Jimin had sacrificed his own dreams to ensure Jungkook could pursue his passion for music. Jimin paid the bills for the younger s singing classes, leaving behind his own urge to dance. Every success Jungkook achieved as an idol was a testament to Jimin's selflessness and love.
But now, faced with the possibility of missing Jimin's wedding, Jungkook felt the weight of failure crushing him. He had promised to be there for Jimin, to support him as Jimin had always supported him, and now it seemed he had let his brother down when it mattered most.
He had one fucking thing as his job and he failed.
Jimin has never asked for anything before and what did he get when he finally asked, disappointment?!
"Jungkook, let's go," Hoseok's voice broke through Jungkook's spiraling thoughts, pulling him away from the edge of despair.
Jungkook immediately clung to Hoseok, tears welling in his eyes as he struggled to articulate his anguish. The older embraced his lover in his arms, calming him down.
"Everything's ruined. I couldn't help him, hyung," Jungkook choked out between sobs, his whole body trembling in Hoseok's embrace.
"Kook, no it's not likโ"
"I could see the tear stains on his letter. He chose me, and I failed him. I'm s-sorry, Jimin-ah. What to do now?"
"Bish, shut the fuck up," Hoseok interrupted fiercely, gripping Jungkook's shoulders. "He's not married yet. Look over there. He's walking down the aisle. That lady was probably highly,"
Jungkook turned, following Hoseok's pointed gaze, and there he saw Jimin, radiant in a white dress, clutching a bouquet of white lilies. Despite his external calm, Jungkook could sense the turmoil beneath Jimin's composed facade.
Jimin had always dreamed of a fairytale wedding, often sharing his elaborate plans with Jungkook, who would tease him about his flower preferences. Lavender, Jimin had once insisted, would be the hallmark of his future wedding, a symbol of his unique taste and unwavering spirit.
"If I marry, it's gonna be lavender everywhere. I hate that basic white lilies and all. It's lavender of I'm not marrying," Jimin said with a dreamy smile, sniffing the bouquet of lavender he has purchased for the farewell of their favourite professor.
"You're not getting married then, never," Jungkook teased, only to earn a harsh smack from Jimin's small hands.
"You'll see one day,"
Their shared memories flooded Jungkook's mind as Jimin approached him, seemingly noticing him, a smile playing on his lips but failing to reach his eyes completely.
Jimin paused before Jungkook, embracing him warmly. The younger felt like he was frozen.
Mrs. Park, a familiar figure from their shared past, recognized Jungkook instantly and welcomed him into their fold. How could she not recognize the boy for whom her own son has been scolded million times by her husband?!
"Come, Jungkook," she urged gently, giving him an important responsibility. "You've been like a brother to our Jimin. It's only right you guide him forward now."
Jungkook hesitantly walked beside Jimin, slowly taking his hand and escorting him toward his awaiting groom. He glanced back briefly at Hoseok, who had faded into the background, offering silent support from afar, a thumbs up on display as a sign of assurance.
"Did you receive my letter, or did you come thinking it was Rose's wedding?" Jimin asked softly, his voice tinged with unspoken sorrow as he masked his expressions with a sweet smile, knowing that he had all eyes on himself.
"I came for you, Jimin," Jungkook replied firmly, meeting Jimin's gaze with unwavering determination. He was determined to help the latter at any cost.
"I'm so glad you're here. Thank you, Kook," Jimin whispered gratefully, a flicker of genuine happiness lighting up his features.
Soon, Jimin stood on the wedding stage, surrounded by hushed anticipation as the priest's voice filled the air with sacred vows and blessings. He stood adjacent to his groom, separated by a thin piece of cloth.
When the price read the holy hymns, there were some glitches in the microphone. Despite technical glitches, the ceremony proceeded, culminating in the pivotal moment of exchanging vows and rings.
Jimin inhaled sharply as he raised his hand to put the ring. He was about to sob if not for being warned by his grandfather to behave. How could he do this to Taehyung? They've come so far together then how could he take any decision on his own when it was supposed to be mutual? How could he dare to shatter Taehyung like this? He wouldn't dare to think about how brutally he was going to stab his lover's heart with a wound which would take a lifetime to heal?
It was getting hard for him to imagine the look of betrayal in his lover's eyes. He was so coward to not even break it off with Taehyung first yet here he was, slowly letting someone else put a ring on his finger as he did the same.
"..โน#โนark Jimin takes... &&โน###.. as your husband?" The priest's words were punctuated by intermittent glitches, but Jimin's resolute nod spoke volumes.
"I do," Jimin declared, his eyes never leaving Jungkook's, a silent acknowledgment of the deep understanding between them.
He watchedย from the corner of his eyes, his father signalling Bogum, Jimin's cousin to get the issue fixed silently.
"Do ... &##& take Jimin as your husba&##d?" The priest's frustration was palpable, but the ceremony pressed onward, reaching its zenith as the newlyweds were encouraged to seal their union with a kiss.
Jimin faced the audience, anticipation and nerves intertwining as he braced himself for the culmination of his dreams. He had rather prefer death at this moment instead of kissing someone who wasn't Taehyung.
He has finally become the reason for Taehyung's heartbreak, the reason he would start having trust issues from now onwards, the reason the man with black soft locks and boxy smile would never believe in love again.
Suddenly, a familiar touch squeezed Jimin's hand, sending a jolt of recognition through him.
The curtain separating him from his now husband was finally off as he was pulled closer to the man who was now legally his husband.
"H-how?" Jimin whispered, his gaze darting to the side where a familiar figure stood, a smile of understanding gracing his features.
He couldn't believe his eyes at all. This had to be the sweetest dream ever. There was no way that he was this lucky.
"All thanks to your dearest brother," Taehyung's voice echoed with sincerity as he looked at Jimin, a mix of relief and reproach in his eyes. Taehyung's back was facing the crowd as he was talking to Jimin who was trying to peek over his boyfriend'sโ husband's shoulder to see the reaction of guests and his family.
"You never told me about him, Minnie. If he hadn't come to me, I would never have known you were being forced into this marriage. I'm upset you didn't tell me, but right now, after marrying you, I feel like the happiest man alive."
Jimin turned to see Jungkook smiling at him through tear-filled eyes, Hoseok standing proudly beside him with an affectionate smile.
He felt like he was floating. He was finally able to marry the love of life. There would be no more regrets or guilty emotions for betraying Taehyung's trust and love. No more separation. And it was all because Jungkook fulfilled his duties of a brother.
Skipping their wedding kiss, Jimin rushed into Jungkook's arms, embracing him tightly, crushing him tightly which made the younger laugh a little. "You've proven to me that I chose the right person, Kook," Jimin said, his voice tinged with gratitude, a huge smile on his face which made his eyes disappear just the way Jungkook loved to see.
"Not only did you free me from this forced marriage, but you also allowed me to marry the love of my life. You truly are the world's best brother."
"Pabo, go and kiss him first," Hoseok teased, nudging Jimin playfully. With a sheepish 'oops' and a dramatic action of putting his palms on his mouth, Jimin dashed over to Taehyung and pressed his lips firmly against his husband's, taking the taller by surprise, a testament to their newfound union and undying love.
Taehyung's face finally being revealed to the whole audience who were shocked as hell. He held his cute husband's hand in his own before bringing it up to place a kiss on his knuckles.
"You know, for the first time, I'm not jealous of you choosing someone else to hug right before our wedding kiss," Taehyung mused, his eyes locked with Jimin's. "Because he's not just someone, he's your brother. I've seen the worry and fear in his eyes, even his boyfriend was so anxious to help you. I have to say, I'm jealous you have such a perfect brother."
Jimin grinned warmly at Taehyung's words. "Well, he is the best," Jimin agreed, a blush coloring his cheeks. "But you should be jealous that I have the world's best husband too." He teased the taller slightly who nodded, a shy smile on his cheeks.
"You don't know how scared I was when he told me you were getting married today," Taehyung confessed passionately, pulling Jimin closer. "I love you so much. Even though our wedding was farthest from how we planned of, still I feel like it's the second best feeling ever. As for the first best feeling, it's about you being in my life,"
Their tender moment was interrupted by a commotion in the background, the actual groom having managed to escape and run towards them. "Hey! I am the original groom!!" The former guy shouted but the ceremony had already been completed, and Jimin was now legally bound to Taehyungโnothing could change that.
The parks silently dragged away that guy to have a nice talk.
Jungkook watched the newlyweds with a fond smile, feeling a deep sense of contentment in his heart. All it took was a flight to Korea and Namjoon's assistance, though he hadn't expected Namjoon and Taehyung to be brothers. Despite the chaotic mishaps that followed, Jimin's radiant smile made everything worthwhile.
Well except for how violent Taehyung became after finding out the truth. It was a really tough time handling him because the taller seemed to have blood painted on his head, ready to destroy everything and everyone.
Observing Taehyung closely, Jungkook easily understood why Jimin was so enamored with him. Taehyung loved Jimin with a devotion that seemed innate, as if he were born to cherish him. They both were definitely soulmates.
As Jimin and Taehyung drove off, Jimin tossed the bouquet, which Jungkook caught with a laugh, glancing over at Hoseok who blushed charmingly. Perhaps Jungkook could invite his brother and brother-in-law to his own wedding soon.
"Best brother!" Jimin had called him that before going with his husband, and Jungkook couldn't contain his joy of repeating the words. "Hyung, did you see how proud he was of me? I'm so happy to have a brother, a family."
"Not just the best brother, Kook," Hoseok interjected softly, his eyes filled with love. "You make me proud too. I'm proud to be with someone like you, who loves his brother so deeply, who would cancel a concert just to be there for him. You're my best lover! I love you."
"Best brother and best lover!" Jungkook exclaimed happily, repeating the words like a mantra as it sounded very pleasing to him. He smiled, enveloping Hoseok in a tight hug as his boyfriend kissed his forehead with a proud expression.
The letter in Jungkook's pocket remained a treasured memento, a symbol of the trust Jimin had placed in him and how he had fulfilled that promise.
Now in their late sixties, Jungkook and Hoseok sat together, their two sons, Jungseok and Wonkook were listening intently as Jimin and Taehyung's son, Taemin, narrated the story. Across from them, Jimin and Taehyung cuddled with their granddaughter, Taeri, captivated by the tale of the best brother who had fulfilled his duty, inspiring others to do the same.
The bonds of love and family, forged through trials and triumphs, stood strong, a testament to the enduring power of unconditional love and unwavering support.
