Mountain Chase
Isabella's POV
We waited for Dom's so-called "family" to make their move and get Ramsey. I smirked to myself—little did they know I had placed a bug on the computers aboard the carrier. If Dom or anyone else decided to break it open, it would alert me immediately.
Deckard drove us through the forest, the engine of his car growling as we met up with them. He slammed the car into Dom's, grinning like a devil, and I couldn't help but smile back.
Dom's expression turned furious, clearly confused about what we were doing. I gave him a look that said it all: Told you we'd make a mess of things.
The race was on. Dom and Deckard zoomed down the hill, and then, as if things couldn't get crazier, Roman crashed into our car. We toppled over, but Deckard was quick to get out, his hand reaching down to help me up. We sprinted over to dispose of the bag he was holding, ensuring our plan stayed on track.
Deckard pulled out his gun as the chaos unfolded. I glanced around, noticing Mose Jakande barking orders, but my focus remained on Dom and his family. Deckard muttered under his breath, "Interesting," as my brother sped off the cliff. Without missing a beat, Deckard holstered his gun, and we walked away from the carnage.
I held Deckard's hand as we strolled, the weight of everything setting in. We came across a lake, and I tapped Deckard's hand, pointing across to where I saw Dom and his family.
I pulled out a device that would let me listen in on their conversation. Through the static, I caught a snippet: Ramsey sent it to a friend in the Middle East. Yay, warm weather.
"Well, looks like they're heading to the Middle East," I said, glancing up at Deckard.
He grinned, his eyes alight with excitement. "Looks like we are too. Let's crash their party!"
I smirked. "Let's go."
Deckard pulled me into a kiss, his lips warm against mine, and when he pulled away, he called Mose Jakande to arrange a ride for us.
We boarded the plane Jakande sent, and as Deckard planned our next move, I rested my head on his shoulder, finally allowing myself to relax. The motion of the plane was soothing, and before I knew it, I was asleep in his arms.
Deckard's POV
As I focused on planning our next move, I couldn't help but feel a sense of peace. My wife was asleep on my shoulder, and I was content. Sure, we'd rushed into this marriage, but Isabella was different. She was kind, loving, and always there for the people she cared about. I knew I was still getting to know her, but what I felt for her wasn't temporary—it was never-ending.
I wanted a future after this war. I wanted a life with Isabella, one where we could move beyond the bloodshed and the betrayals. I knew it had affected her relationship with her family, just like it had with mine and Hattie. There was a part of me that wanted to call Hattie, to tell her everything, but I resisted. I wanted to protect her from all of this.
Isabella didn't have a close relationship with Dom or Mia, but I knew she shared a special bond with Jakob. They were twins after all. I carefully lifted Isabella into a safe spot so she could sleep more comfortably, making sure she wasn't cold. As I brushed a strand of hair from her face, I smiled and kissed her cheek, hoping she was dreaming of better days ahead.
This would all be over soon, and then we could build a life together—a life I'd been dreaming about, where we could have a family of our own. I could see it so clearly in my mind.
I lay down next to her, my heart full as I drifted into sleep, dreaming of a future filled with kids and peace.
Author's Note:
Apologies for the wait! Things have been busy, but I'm making sure to get my work done and still have time for my stories.
I'm really enjoying writing the softer side of Deckard. He's such a caring husband, and I love showing how much he wants a future with Isabella. It's so different from the cold, calculating man he once was.
As for the whole Han situation—when I watched Furious 7, I honestly thought Han was gone for good, so I was pretty shocked when he came back in F9. I like Han, and I think he's a great character. While he's not my absolute favorite, I respect him a lot.
The thing that bothers me about Dom and the crew, though, is how they act like they're above everyone else. They claim to care about family, but they don't seem to take accountability for the damage they cause. That's one reason I prefer the Shaws. At least they acknowledge their mistakes, even if they've done some questionable things. Dom and the others don't seem to do that, and it's frustrating to me.
Anyway, just a bit of a rant. Hope you're enjoying the story!
