Margarita has an exceptional taste in weapons.
Isabella's POV
I've decided that I will never fly again during my pregnancy. As we walked out, Hattie asked, "Are you sure you know where you're going?"
I turned to her and replied, "I know Russia like the back of my hand. Besides, do you know where her home is? No, you don't. So why don't you keep quiet?"
Owen and Deckard both smirked, especially Deckard. Hattie opened her mouth to respond, but Deckard shot her a look that clearly said he wasn't in the mood for her nonsense.
As we continued walking, Deckard placed a hand on my back and asked, "How are the boys in there?"
I let out a groan and replied, "They're kicking, but they're okay. They want you to kiss me, though."
Deckard smiled. "Do they? Well, I better listen to them." He leaned in and kissed me on the lips, his hands resting gently on my belly.
We walked toward the car that Margarita left for us, and I said, "Deck, can you drive? I need to sleep."
Hattie scoffed, "You were just asleep."
I turned around and snapped, "I'm carrying twins, Hattie. I've had enough of your attitude. I don't need this from someone who didn't even know her own brother was set up and who cut off her entire family because of it. Deck talks about you all the time and how much he misses you, but you'd probably turn him in. You need to accept that your brother is married and about to be a father. I understand that finding out you have a sister-in-law is shocking; I went through something similar with my own family."
I paused for a moment, trying to calm my nerves. "I was sent away, and my brother and I weren't close at all. I pursued a relationship with Deck because I love him and Owen. I want a family connection, and I would love to have a sister to get along with. I hoped that would be you, but I see how rude you're being right now. The reason I haven't just walked away and gone home is because I love my husband."
I looked at Hattie, my voice hardening. "So if you can't accept my help and deal with this like an adult, we'll just leave you here to fix the mess you created."
Hattie looked at Deck and Owen, hoping for their support. However, Deckard replied, "Hattie, you can't just come back into my life and expect me to be okay with you treating my wife poorly. This won't work. Until you understand what happened, I can't help you. And even if I told you, you probably wouldn't believe me. I'll help you save yourself because you are my sister, and I love you, but I love my wife more."
Owen chimed in, "I can't believe I'm saying this, but I agree with Deckard. Hattie, we love you and miss you a lot. I know you don't like what we do for a living, and that's okay, but we're all here to help each other. Isa is the smartest among us, and I trust her and Deckard."
Hobbs nodded, and we all got into the car while Deck drove us to Margarita's house. The car ride was quiet; Hobbs sat next to Hattie, while Owen sat on the other side. As we approached our destination, Hobbs remarked, "Ah, your friend is a Russian mobster."
Deck replied, "No, she steals from Russian mobsters. She steals from everyone; it's her thing."
Once we got out of the car and walked up to the entrance, I added, "And she knows how to get us everything we need—and more." Owen smiled and said, "I wonder if she'll kiss me again." I looked at him and replied, "Um, maybe. You know she likes you."
Owen smiled and walked up to see Margarita, who greeted him with, "Owen Shaw."
Owen responded, "Margarita."
Margarita leaned in and kissed him lovingly before turning to me. "Bella, how are you? You look amazing! Oh, hey, Deckard!"
I replied, "Hi, Margarita." She walked over, gave me a hug, and said, "You look amazing."
I smirked and replied, "I feel like a whale, and your godchildren are kicking me up and down." Margarita smiled and hugged Deckard.
I noticed the expressions on Hattie and Hobbs's faces: Hattie looked shocked and slightly grossed out, while Hobbs appeared equally astonished.
I followed Owen, Margarita, and Deck inside but not without hearing Hattie say to Hobbs, "I did not see that coming."
Hobbs responded, "I wish I hadn't seen that at all."
I smiled and said, "Come on, you two."
Hattie and Hobbs followed us inside. I looked around; the place was always gorgeous. I couldn't help but laugh at all the people she had tied up. Deckard wrapped his arm around me to steady me and gave me a little back rub, as my back was killing me. He always knew how to help with my discomfort, whether it was rubbing my feet or my back.
Margarita said, "I got your list; it's long."
I replied, "Well, yeah," and pointed at Owen and Deckard. "They made it."
Deckard and Owen chimed in, "We asked for a house on a runway, but not sure if it included Russian duct tape on that list."
I rolled my eyes and said, "Well, if you want the best weapon, where are you going to go? Rob a military base? Remember, one of you almost got away with that."
I glanced at Owen, who looked annoyed yet affectionate. I enjoyed teasing Owen whenever I got the chance.
Margarita said, "Well, next time, give me more than three hours' notice. I won't have to resort to such extremes. I can't believe you have to deal with these guys, Isa."
I looked at her and replied, "Girl, I don't know how I deal with them half the time. The Shaw is stubborn."
Margarita laughed and said, "This is why she is my favorite Shaw."
Owen exclaimed, "HEY!"
Deckard said, "Sure, three hours have everything to do with your extremes, Margarita."
We walked into a high-tech room, and I began to geek out. Owen remarked, "Hey, bro, your wife is geeking out." Deckard rolled his eyes, and I mimicked Owen, saying, "Hey babe, Owen is still scared of planes."
Owen responded with, "Bitch."
I replied sassily, "Jerk."
We both smiled. Hattie looked at us awkwardly, aware that she hadn't been part of our lives for a while. Owen and Deck helped me sit down. Once I was settled in a chair, Margarita tapped the deck with the built-in computer, looked at me, and said, "Don't worry, I'll send the same message after my godchildren are born."
I smiled as Margarita said, "Hear me out, Deckard. Eteon, really? Could you pick a harder place to break into?"
Owen replied, "They have something we need." I added, "I can't figure out how to access their systems if I'm not in their network, and it's a strong one. It's not like breaking into the Pentagon."
Deck interjected, "We need to find the C-17 viral extraction machine; it could be anywhere."
Hattie mentioned, "That facility covers three square miles of research labs."
I stood up, and Owen held out his hand for me to take. I accepted it and walked next to Deck, who gently placed his hand on my baby bump to check if the babies were okay.
Hobbs said, "Yeah, and it's a powder keg packed with munitions."
Hattie responded, "We've got to pull a Mick Jagger."
Owen looked at Hattie like she was crazy, and Deckard's grip on me tightened.
Hobbs remarked, "Now this sounds like a fun game."
Owen shot him a look, clearly thinking he was being idiotic. Both Deckard and Owen said, "We're not getting you on the inside." Deckard looked at me and said, "I will not let anyone touch my wife or my children. I won't do it, you hear me, Hattie? I won't." He pointed at me and continued, "Look, Hattie, I am risking everything to save you. My wife is in danger, and so is Owen. I hate to say it, but Hobbs is in danger too, along with his family."
Hattie looked at him and nodded. "When Deck, Owen, and I were kids, we used to spend our time coming up with these heists. Mick Jagger was a job that required one person to showboat and draw all the attention while the others created the music. It was a typical inside job. Guys, you heard what Andreiko said: they have to use the extraction machine, so they'll take me right to it. I can do this; we can do this."
Hobbs looked at her with confidence. I saw Deck struggling, glancing at me, and I placed my hand on top of his. Owen looked down. I said, "I am in." Deckard looked at me in shock and whispered in my ear, "What about the babies, love? You can't risk them." I met his gaze and replied, "I know, but we need that machine. It would clear all our names, and then we can go home and start preparing for the babies."
Deckard nodded and kissed my forehead, and Owen added, "Hell with it, I'm in."
Deckard took a breath and said, "So now the only question is how to ring Eteon's dinner bell."
Margarita replied, "I can handle that part, but first, let's get you geared up." She then instructed, "Emiliya, take Deckard's wife and sister to get dressed. Remember that Isa is pregnant; we don't want Eteon to know, and we also need clothes suitable for his sister."
Deckard gave me a quick kiss, and I kissed him back before we went our separate ways.
Emiliya put us in different rooms to change. Inside one of the rooms, I found an outfit equipped with custom tools. I could tell it offered protection and that I could manipulate its appearance to influence how others saw me. I got dressed, styled my hair, and more.
Once I finished, I sat down; my feet and back were aching. Then, I heard the door open. It was Deckard, who pulled me onto his lap and began rubbing my feet while singing to the babies. As his soothing voice enveloped me, I slowly fell asleep
Author Note:
I love the friendship between Margarita and Isa. Margarita is the godmother of one of their kids. Hattie receives some hard truths about what she's missing out on. Also, Deckard is the best—we stan Deckard Shaw.
Deckard made a valid point about the dangers of putting himself, Owen, his wife, their unborn children, and Luke and Hobbs's daughter at risk while trying to help Hattie. Even though they all want to save her, he doesn't want to endanger those close to him. Despite his dislike for Hobbs, Deck still wants everyone to be safe. You could say this reflects his upcoming fatherhood.
