Jakob meets the twins.
Isabella's POV
The visit with Dom, Mia, and Letty had gone... surprisingly well. Mia and I had kind of made up enough that the air wasn't so heavy between us. But as much as I appreciated the peace offering, I made a promise to myself. When my sons came into this world, they came first. Always.
I told Dom, Letty, and Mia that while things were good between us now, I still planned to keep my distance, for their sake and mine. That family, that past... it always brought chaos. And I wasn't letting chaos near my boys. I wasn't afraid to fight, but I wouldn't start a war either. Peace was fragile, especially with the last name Shaw.
Deckard, Hattie, Owen, and Magdalene were out grabbing food. The house was quiet. I was in the living room, curled up on the couch with the baby monitor beside me. Healing had been going better than expected—each day, I was gaining my strength back. But something about the silence felt... off.
Then I heard it.
A crash. Glass, maybe. Close.
I shot up, heart racing. Instinct kicked in fast. I rushed to the wall near the fireplace and pressed my hand against a faintly painted panel. It beeped softly. Hidden just behind it was a small keypad. I punched in the code Deckard had shown me once—only once-and the panel slid open.
Inside was a roll of guns, sleek and deadly.
I didn't hesitate.
I grabbed a Glock, loaded the magazine with trembling fingers, and cocked it into place. No time to second-guess. My boys were in that house. I wasn't about to wait around and find out who broke in.
I moved quickly down the hallway, every sense on high alert. The floor creaked beneath me as I made my way toward the bedroom. My grip on the gun was tight, steady.
The door to my room was cracked open.
I didn't stop.
I pushed it open with my foot, stepped inside, and raised the gun, arms locked, ready to fire.
My voice was sharp. Cold.
"Step away from my children. Now."
The man didn't move. His back was still to me, but I could feel the arrogance rolling off him in waves.
"You won't shoot me," he said calmly.
I smirked, cold and steady. "That's what an Eteon soldier said to me once. Guess what? He's dead."
He chuckled, low and familiar. "You won't shoot me, Izzy."
That's when something clicked.
I hesitated, just for a second, before slowly lowering the gun. My breath caught in my throat as he finally turned around.
"You won't shoot your twin brother," Jakob said, that same cocky grin stretched across his face.
I exhaled sharply, the tension bleeding out of me. "Jakob, have you ever heard of knocking? Not crashing through a damn window?"
Jakob shrugged, walking toward me without a hint of apology. "Didn't feel like it."
He pulled me into a hug, tight and warm. I rolled my eyes but hugged him back, smirking against his shoulder.
"Well, next time, try the door, drama queen."
Just then, I heard it—two sharp cries coming from the baby monitor on the table.
I pulled back from Jakob, my eyes widening. "Great. You woke up the twins."
Just then, the front door slammed open.
Deckard stormed in first, gun raised, Owen and Hattie right behind him—each one locked, loaded, and ready to shoot. Their eyes landed on Jakob immediately.
"You've got to be kidding me," Deckard growled, his voice low and lethal. "Get away from my sons."
Jakob didn't flinch. "Easy, mate. I'm not here to hurt anyone."
Owen put his gun down and said " hello jakob"
"Especially uninvited, and I am sorry, who are you?" Hattie added, calm but sharp, her sights trained on him.
I stepped forward, cradling Freddy against my chest with one arm and raising the other.
"Don't shoot him!" I snapped. "He's my brother... and a complete idiot."
Hattie looked at me and said, "How many siblings do you have"? Hattie, look at me and put her gun down. Owen did
I looked at her and said, " 3, Dom and Mia and now Jakob".
Deckard smiled and walked over to Harr,y and picked him up. And move over toward me.
Jakob smirked. "Twin brother, technically. Not my fault, I'm the better-looking one."
I smirked and crossed my arms. "Sure, Jakob. You know I love seeing you, but why didn't you just call like a normal person?"
Jakob took a deep breath. "I'm going after Dom soon. For everything he's done. But I want you to stay out of it... and I wanted to meet my nephews."
I stared at him for a moment, my heart pulling in two directions. "Do what you have to do, Jakob. I know what Dom did to you—I remember. And I'm sorry. I wish I'd gone with you that day... But going after him won't bring Dad back."
Jakob's eyes darkened, but he nodded. "I know. But Dom has it coming. Just promise me... you won't get involved."
I glanced toward Deckard, then down at the twins. They were safe, peaceful... and they were my whole world now.
"I won't," I said quietly. "Now... would you like to meet your nephews?"
Jakob's face softened instantly.
I smiled and turned toward the babies. "Meet Frederick Jakob Shaw," I said, gently lifting Freddy. "And this little guy is Harry Owen Shaw."
Jakob's eyes went glassy as he looked at me. "You named him... after me?"
I nodded. "Yeah. I named Freddy. Deckard named Harry. Do you want to hold them?"
He nodded, unable to speak.
I carefully placed Freddy into his arms. Jakob cradled him gently, as if the world had stopped moving around him.
"Hey, Freddy," he whispered. "I'm your uncle... and I love you so much."
I smiled softly and snapped a picture of the moment—Jakob and Freddy, together at last.
Jakob handed Freddy back to me, and Deckard stepped in, placing Harry into Jakob's arms the same way I had. Jakob held him close and repeated the same words, his voice full of emotion.
Before long, the boys started getting sleepy. Deckard and I took them upstairs, laid them down, and quietly closed the nursery door. We went back downstairs, where Hattie, Owen, and Jakob were already sitting with drinks in hand.
The conversation flowed easier this time. We talked, laughed, and for a little while, it felt like old wounds were starting to heal.
Eventually, Jakob stood and said it was time to go. He pulled me into a tight hug.
"I love you, Izzy."
I held him just as tightly. "I love you too, Jak."
I pulled back and looked him in the eye. "I'll always support you. Whether you go after Dom or not... Just remember, we're still family. Maybe try talking to him before it's too late."
Jakob gave a small nod. "I know you would. I'll see."
But I knew. He was going. Nothing would stop him.
Deckard stepped forward and shook his hand. "Good seeing you, mate. Just... next time, knock on the damn door."
Jakob smirked. "I'll keep that in mind. Bye, sis."
"Bye, Jak," I said with a warm smile as he walked out.
Deckard closed the door behind him, locking it before heading upstairs to the twins' room. He checked the monitors, armed the security system, and looked back at me.
"That brother of yours needs to learn we have a front door."
I laughed softly. "You know my family—act first, ask questions later."
Deckard smirked. "More like: car race first, loyalty second, logic never."
I grinned. "True. Our families... they're more alike than we admit."
He nodded. "Somewhat. You know he's going after Dom."
"I know," I whispered.
The rest of the day passed in peace—diapers, feedings, and the soft chaos that came with two newborns. For a little while, we were just parents.
But deep down, I knew peace never lasted.
A new war was coming. Jakob was going to act on the anger he'd held inside for years. Maybe he and Dom would eventually make peace—but someone else was coming. Someone darker.
We just didn't see it yet.
Author's Note:
Jakob has officially met the twins. This leads into the events of Fast & Furious 9. You won't see Isabella in F9 because she and Deckard are focused on raising their children. That means we'll be jumping forward in time. The twins will be toddlers... and maybe, just maybe, another Shaw is on the way. 😉
