Family cook out & Peace at last
Isabella's POV
I woke up to a knock on the door. Groggily, I opened it and saw my mother-in-law standing there.
I rubbed my eyes and asked, "Magdalene, what are you doing here?"
She stepped inside and replied, "Well, Isa, I have an answer for you. I'm here to check on you, and I also brought you something."
She handed me a phone, and I opened it, hearing Deckard's voice.
"Hi, darling, I'm glad to hear your voice."
Tears welled in my eyes as I whispered, "Decks, is that you?"
"Yes, darling. This will be over soon, and I'm coming home. You and I, we'll go home together. Sound good?"
I smiled, "Sounds like a plan. I love you."
"I love you too," he replied before hanging up.
I turned to Magdalene, my heart swelling with happiness, and she handed me a hot chocolate and breakfast. We ate and chatted, and I found myself feeling grateful for her presence in my life. After a while, she stood and said, "Isa, you know you're like a daughter to me. I have a daughter too; you two would get along well."
I smiled and said, "My mother was a wonderful person, but she passed when I was ten. I'm really grateful to have you as my mother-in-law."
She smiled back. "Thank you, Isa. I'm glad you're part of the family. Well, I have to go now. Let me know when my son comes home."
"Thank you for everything, Magdalene. Have a safe flight, and I'll see you soon."
After she left, I spent the rest of the day preparing for Deckard's return. I was exhausted and fell asleep. Later, I woke to a familiar voice.
"Isa, wake up."
I jumped, and when I saw Deckard standing there, alive and well, I ran into his arms. He set something down, and I noticed a baby in his arms.
I smiled and said, "Aww, you're cute."
Deckard chuckled, "Meet your nephew—Dom's child, and someone named Elena."
I smiled and gently took the baby in my arms. "Aren't you a happy little one?" I cooed, and Deckard laughed.
"I missed you, Isa."
"I missed you too," I replied, feeling a weight lift off my shoulders.
We spent the day caring for Mini Dom. I couldn't resist taking a picture when I saw the baby using Deckard as a pillow. One day, I'd show these pictures to our kids and laugh.
Two days later...
"Are you sure he wants me there?" I asked, my nerves creeping up.
Deckard reassured me, "Yes, darling. He said to bring you, the baby, and me."
I hesitated for a moment but nodded. "Okay."
He knelt down, gently placed his hands on my knees, and said, "Isa, would I ever put you in danger?"
I smiled. "No, you wouldn't, other than the times I put myself in danger."
Deckard smirked and added, "You know how to fight. I'm proud of you."
I gave him a playful grin. "Alright, let's go. But don't forget to call your mom."
Deckard groaned as he called her, and I took a moment to change the baby and get ready. I slipped on a red off-shoulder top, blue jeans, and boots while Deckard dressed as well. He carried the baby, and I grabbed the diaper bag.
We arrived and walked up the stairs. When I opened the door, I saw the whole crew, including Mr. Nobody and Little Nobody.
"These will be interesting," Little Nobody commented.
I smirked, walking over to them as Deckard went to Dom. "It'll be interesting when you tell Dom what happened in Tokyo," I teased.
Mr. Nobody turned pale, and I couldn't help but smile as I walked off to grab a drink.
I watched Deckard hand the baby to Dom, then Letty came over to me. "Isa, I'm sorry for what I said. I was stressed and blamed you and Deckard, which wasn't fair. I'm happy for you."
I looked at her and said, "Letty, I get it. You were stressed—I'd be too. But I'm tired of seeing you and Dom as victims. You're not. It made me realize I don't want to be caught up in your drama anymore. I'm glad you and Dom are okay, but you and I... we're not."
Letty looked down, remorseful. "I know, Isa. I shouldn't have said that to you, but I want to rebuild our friendship. I guess I felt hurt too. You're like a sister to me, and I never realized how much words can hurt. You were right to call us out."
I looked at her and said firmly, "From now on, you'll call me Isabella. You lost the right to call me Isa. I've tried to stay out of the drama, but I'll always choose Deckard over you. My love for him will always come before family. And I won't apologize for that."
Just then, Dom and Deckard approached, and Dom said, "Letty, stop. I owe Isa a big apology. Isa, I'm sorry for treating you like a problem and treating you the way I treated Jakob. I messed up by not trusting you, and I know I have to rebuild that trust."
I looked at Dom and smiled, saying, "Dom, I love you, but it's going to take time for us to rebuild that trust. The first step is for me to live my life, without getting involved in your drama."
Dom nodded. "Sounds like a deal. You didn't do anything wrong. I was an asshole, but I'm glad you found Deckard."
Deckard added, "I'm sorry about Han. I really am."
I wrapped my arm around his waist, knowing something Dom and Deckard didn't know about Han. I promised myself I'd never tell anyone. Dom looked at me and said, "I know you're sorry. As for Owen, he was an asshole. But I'm sorry for pushing you to him."
Deckard chuckled. "Trust me, I know."
Dom turned to me. "Isa, I know you'll always side with Deckard over us, but I miss you. You've always been part of the family. I just hope we can rebuild our relationship. No more lies."
I smiled and walked over to him. "No more lies. I love you, Dom."
He handed Letty his son and wrapped me in a hug—just tight enough. He pulled back and said, "Please stay for dinner."
Deckard looked at Dom and asked, "Are you sure?"
Dom nodded. "You're family. Come sit."
We joined them at the table, and for the first time in a long while, there was peace. As we were leaving, Letty came over and said, "Thanks for coming. Will you come tomorrow?"
I smiled and replied, "Yes. See you soon."
Deckard and I walked home, talking and smiling. I loved married life, and I couldn't wait to tell him about the pregnancy.
Author's Note:
Yay! Dom and Isabella kind of made up, and they're on okay terms now. Isabella told Letty not to call her Isa, which seems fair. Also, Isabella knows what Mr. Nobody is hiding—here's a hint: Han and Tokyo.
