It had been three days since Lorelei had given birth. She'd had a twins, Briar Pumpkin Frankie Quinzel and Hermes Mushroom Felicity Quinzel. They were tiny and perfect and beautiful, despite the circumstances surrounding their conception.

Lorelei was asleep. Frankie sat awake, watching Briar. She was tiny and perfect and beautiful. That's what Frankie had told Lorelei, anyways. Tiny and perfect and beautiful.

So why did Frankie feel so sick looking at her?

Maybe because she was born of rape. Maybe because she and her mother had the same father.

Maybe because he saw his father's features in her tiny face. The same features he saw in his own.

Frankie stood and walked to the window. It looked out at the city. The shithole called Gotham he was unlucky enough to be born in.

The light of a taxi shone on the window, causing Frankie to see his reflection. It stepped away. He couldn't stand to see his face.Β

It couldn't stand to see its face. The face he inherited from the monster he called father.

Sometimes Frankie felt like all he'd ever be was Joker's son. How could it be anything more? The face, the hair. Everything about him screamed "Joker's son". That's all it would ever be, right?

Son of a killer. A killer himself. He had so much blood on his hands and he was only fifteen.

Frankie knew there was a way to escape. A way that he could get away from his fate of being the son of a killer, of a rapist, of a psycho clown. It pulled the pocketknife from its pocket. He held it against his skin. The metal looked dull in the dim light. He'd probably have to press down hard. It could imagine the blood leaking from his flesh, staining its wrists scarlet. The color of his, of his father's lips.

He pressed down harder, ready to end himself, when Briar started to cry. It dropped the knife, startled. He walked over to the makeshift crib and picked the baby up. "Shh," it soothed. "Go back to sleep, Briar." He rocked her gently, his thoughts of ending it all forgotten, at least for the moment.

What was he thinking, anyways? He couldn't kill himself. Not yet. It had to help Lorelei with the twins. It had to find Felicity and Leo. He had so much to do.

Frankie Quinzel had to live, a little bit longer at least.
