|| Elevator ||
Hari Shankar Reddy didn't expect to be trapped in an elevator with one of his fans.
It had been a completely regular day for him, he was coming down to have breakfast at the hotel with the CSK teammates as he always did. Humming a famous song, he'd strode into the elevator in a very cheery mood.
"Hold the door, please!" A feminine voice cried out, Hari, being a gentleman, held his hand in front of the sliding doors. A girl darted inside, and let out a sigh of relief.
"You're a lifesaver." She smiled gratefully at him, her doe brown eyes widened for a second. She inspected him carefully, quite literally staring at him.
"Uh... is there something on my face?" He ran a hand through his hair, not turning to face her.
"No, you just look familiar." She shrugged, unabashed that she was staring. Silence draped between the two of them like a heavy curtain. The elevator began to creak, the girl clutched the elevator bar, curling her fingers around. Hari mimicked the action with a sense of desperation. The elevator stopped shaking after an abrupt drop.
"Eek!" Hari let out an inelegant squeak, earning a snicker from the girl.
"Hari Shankar Reddy, is it?" Recognition sparked in her eyes, Hari inched away with suspicion.
"Please, I'm not a stalker." She rolled her eyes, whipping out her phone she tried to get some sort of signal in the metal box that they were stuck in.
"You know you'll never get bars down here." He scoffed, folding his hands.
"At least I'm bothering to try and get out of here," She shot back,
"You know my name, yet I don't know yours." Hari titled his head, regretting the words the moment they escaped his lips.
"That sounded a lot less flirty in my head," He rushed to explain after an odd look from her.
"Vikasini." She mumbled after a bit, Hari nodded his acknowledgment. Once again, silence.
"Gods this is awkward," She thought out loud, he chuckled, impressed by how openly she spoke her mind.
"Well, I'm here because my team is here. Why are you here?" Hari tried for conversation once more, he cursed under his breath when he realized that this time, he sounded like a stalker.
"Let me guess, it sounded a lot less like you were going to stalk me in your head?" She laughed and sat down on the floor. He was surprised at how at ease he felt with this girl he met ten minutes ago.
The thing is, Ten Minutes slowly became 15, then 20...
"Does this hotel not realize that we've been stuck here for half an hour now?" She groaned, smacking her head against the metal walls.
"Does no one care about me in this world?" She added dramatically, earning yet another laugh from Hari. Hari snatched her phone away, ignoring her protests.
"There, my number." He smiled passing the phone back to her, she turned fifty different shades of red. But he'd noticed something as well, her WhatsApp Profile Picture included a picture of him, it had a red heart emoji in the corner. Vikasini might not have noticed it, but the tips of Hari's ears were very red.
"Didn't you tell me that we'd get no signal down here? What's the point of giving me your number then?" She shot back, breaking the blushing silence with a quick-witted retort.
"Well, I thought you might want to meet after we get out of here?" Hari's statement sounded more like a question.
"Is that supposed to be your attempt at asking me out?" She crossed her arms, splots of red appearing on her cheek.
"...Maybe?" Hari was unsure of how to respond. Vikasini always seemed to have the perfect comeback to whatever he said.
"It better be," She huffed, Hari's head jerked upwards.
"Shit, I said that out loud, didn't I?" She squeaked, burying her face in her arms.
"Yep." Hari grinned, for some reason, he smiled uncontrollably.
