The mythical 11:11 wish was something that fascinated Jimin. It made him very excited for a reason unknown. It wasn't like he believed in tales that were sewn by ancestors, or those lore of future prediction. They were all but baseless beliefs at times. Given that he himself was a logical and rational person, it suprised him to how fascinated he was with this idea. This idea that made him feel butterflies over something so non-existent. It made him believe something deeper than what he saw and felt. Something more magical than ever.
The wishing stars were never his to claim, since there would always be a hindrance in the way of happiness. Be it his aspirations or his efforts, Jimin had to always go the hard way. And it hurt so bad to see everyone else get things easier than he could. Yet, he went with it and hoped on that star. That wish on 11:11 which was supposed to free him of all misery and give him the joy of a hundred lifetimes. He knew how to separate fiction from reality, and yet found himself as a child winding the clocks and turning alarms for it.
"Minnie, c'mon let's go."
Jungkook's happy voice came through the door, at the same time his clock struck 11:11.
He closed his eyes gently, making a secret wish of hoping everyone is happy no matter how they are. Jimin believed that all of the living bodies of the world deserve to be happy and content. And before he knew it, his wish time was over and he was tackled back on his bed by the bigger body of the maknae. Jungkook smiled cheekily as he raised his upper body to face Jimin. Jimin only shook his head, not forgetting the hair ruffles for the youngest. Jungkook chuckled at the pampering, only to stop for a moment to stare shamelessly with infatuation at Jimin.
"We've gotta open our birthday boy's day with a bang!"
Hoseok shouted from the dining room, making Jimin giggle in response.
Jimin got out of his room, which was basically Jungkook carrying him around in his arms. Each one of them dropped by to give their best birthday wishes with a small forehead kiss as a cherry on top. Jimin was content with today morning's sequence of events. Their bustling dorm with squeaks and laughs had been with him throughout for more than nine years and he couldn't be more grateful. But he was not ready to be wronged today. As he dramatically sat on the couch, he noticed the luggage by the side which was surprisingly packed.
"A suitcase?"
Jimin asked, with suprise evident in his tone.
"Oh that's the suprise, Jiminie!"
Taehyung said, all while helping Hoseok make the sandwiches.
Jimin gasped in delight, over the prospect of a suprise. Of course, he could count on them for making this day more memorable than ever. All of the other's were bustling to get things ready in a rush. This felt like all those times they packed to go to the tours or holidays. It was something that made Jimin's eyes sparkle with excitement. Except this time he had no work to help them with, though he asked if any of them needed assistance. He was left alone on the couch to just relax.
"Now, tell me where we are going?"
Jimin asked, as they packed themselves in the minivan that arrived.
"Nothing much actually. Just a relax rewind day at a beach!"
Seokjin piped in, as he handled their two suitcases in.
This was actually too less for the seven of them, but Jimin believed them for whatever they had decided. Since, it was a one day trip he guessed it was alright. With Jungkook as the one who suggested he would drive, everyone arranged themselves in the best way possible. Jimin sat between Taehyung and Yoongi, while Seokjin sat infront beside Jungkook, Namjoon and Hoseok at the back. Suprisingly it was comfortable for some reason, as Jimin believed the days of them travelling together in one road vehicle was gone far past behind.
"Wait, why are we going along the highway?"
Jimin asked, ashe looked around to see this was not exactly the road he thought.
"Umm...suprise. We are going to Busan"
Namjoon cheerfully said from behind, though his voice was a little suprised.
"What? For real?"
Jimin asked, completely astounded by the revelation.
"Of course. Thought you would like to spend the time there!"
Hoseok spoke with glee in his voice.
"By the way, i didn't think you would catch on this fast."
Yoongi chuckled, with endearing layers added in his voice.
"How could I not?"
Jimin answered, unable to hold in the cheer.
Bored, Jimin tried looking straight ahead to look at the road that looked endless, yet beautiful. He could feel the blood gushing in his body as this path reminded him of how he had first came to Seoul. Or when he had taken an abrupt bus ride to Busan, during his tired trainee days. Or when he had gone home along with Jungkook after their UN appearance back in 2018. This path made his stomach rumble in excitement. Something he felt relaxing yet enthralling at the same time.
The trees swayed as usual, but his eyes felt heavier. The most probable reason was his late night lives at 12. But also the fact that he had so much energy unspent yesterday that he couldn't just wear it off by sleep. It didn't sound practical enough for him. So he stated awake, seeing all those beautifully written messages by everyone on the internet. Jimin's sleepiness didn't go unnoticed as Taehyung slowly tugged at the smaller boy's arms, thus effectively making him lay his head on the younger's shoulders. Someone's long fingers threaded through his soft hair making him sigh effectively.
Yoongi's warm hand in his hair soothed him, as Jimin soon fell asleep on Taehyung's shoulders. And dare would Jimin talk ill of this sleep he had got. It was that sleep you get when you know you are safe and sound. A sleep where you don't have to care for a thing in this world. It meant he could give up on the responsibility of putting himself in any kind of danger for he knew his mates for life would look out for him. Jimin dreamt of things so fascinating and worthy of mystery, that he would often be weaving them out for all of them.
"Wake up, min!"
Hoseok called out the sleeping boy who groggily opened his eyes.
It was only two hours of sleep, and the first thing that Jimin noticed was that Taehyung hadn't moved an inch from his spot so that his soulmate didn't have to face discomfort. A little while later, he noticed the fingers that still stroked his hair steadily, making him purr like a kitten. They were really holding themselves in uncomfortable positions, just for him to rest good. Seokjin had exchanged places with Jungkook some time in between. And they were soon reaching his city, cue the pleasant weather and fresh scent of the sea in the air. There was a mixture of familiarity and peace as he looked through the windows. It was very different from the bustling capital, Seoul.
"What's the plan though? It's hardly 1."
Jimin asked no one in particular, but soon got an enthusiastic laugh from Seokjin.
"Food Jimin-ah! Food!"
The oldest exclaimed making everyone giggle softly.
As they entered the city, they made their way to one of the good yet secluded resturant to have their lunch peacefully. And just like that they sat themselves down to have one of Jimin's delicious dishes. A little bit of teasing, lots of cheesiness and aromatic foods later, they set their chopsticks. Excusing himself from his boisterously wonderful group, Jimin went to the washroom. He washed his hands off, only to get distracted by the cute cat that sat outside on the balcony. Like an entranced beauty, Jimin followed the sight to pet the unbothered feline.
"I'll just go to the washroom as well. And possibly get Jimin back."
Namjoon mumbled with a dimpled smile, trailing the same path as Jimin.
As Namjoon peeked inside, he didn't find Jimin anywhere. A little panicked over the disappearance, his eyes searched quietly for the shorter boy. It wasn't in Jimin to go places without informing. But as expected or well, expected of the younger's behaviour, he found Jimin crouching infront of a tiny orange cat that rubbed it's head into Jimin's small, yet warm hands. Namjoon could only but smile widely, and take out his camera to capture it all. Jimin cooed at the cat that had wide black bead-like eyes looking at the figure behind him, aka Namjoon. But his ears perked up at the shutter going off.
"AHH!"
Jimin screamed, not expecting a viewer to his activities.
"Shit! When did you get here, hyung?"
Jimin asked, after a little cooling down. Namjoon just smiled in response, while pocketing his phone back.
"Let's go back, huh?"
Namjoon asked softly, knowing Jimin didn't want to exactly let go of this cat. With a sad pout and heavy heart, Jimin bid the kitten good-bye, before joining Namjoon inside.
Namjoon opened the groupchat to send the picture he had taken with the caption, "Kitten with kitten." And within seconds, both of their phones blew up, mostly with emojis by Hoseok. As they sat back with the other's by the table, Jimin was pulled back to the chaos he knew and loved. Taehyung was the first to lean forward and squish Jimin's cheeks with his rather large hands. It wasn't much later before, Jungkook's comment of this was a very rare Jimin and Yoongi photo this was. It caused a loud round of cackling and a fond yet fake displeased Yoongi by the side.
With their payment checked in, all of the seven of them walked for a little while around the park. It was necessarily a pleasant weather with the shaded trees emitting the hike trail environment. Jimin was soon pulled by an enthusiastic Hoseok to get a soft ice cream of flavours in his choice. The other boys pooled in for their orders of chocolate, vanilla, peach, cotton candy, butterscotch, blackcurrant and mint chocolate. 2 scoops of the sweet dish placed in the fanciest way affordable for a street vendor, and it was soon declared war between them.
"Hyung, but I wanna taste this!"
Taehyung whined, trying to sneak up on Seokjin.
"Then get your own. I'm not sharing."
Seokjin scolded, playfully hiding his ice cream from the devil.
"I want to taste and tell you mine was a better choice."
Taehyung pouted, all while trying to lick up the twirl of enticing blue ice cream.
Jungkook was no better as he was already sitting on Hoseok's lap, switching between the two delicious ice cream flavours. Yoongi and Namjoon seemed the most calm, and yet Jimin could hear Namjoon whining to Yoongi of how mint chocolate isn't a good choice. Yoongi could only snarl at what Namjoon had told. Of course, the interaction of seven grown men acting all goofy and delightful over ice-cream caused a few onlookers to give them stares of curiosity and fondness. Jimin was filled with happiness in his heart as this sight of them being they could never replace anything.
"Jimin-ssi, do you want to gang up on Jin hyung and help Tae?"
Jungkook whispered loud enough, for Hoseok to hear. The sunshine boy only laughed, clearly amused by the youngest's plan.
"You bet!"
Jimin winked his eye, and shot a finger gun at Jungkook.
Soon, Seokjin was trapped on the bench by the three maknae who had happily stolen his ice cream and shared it among themselves. Jimin and Jungkook only joined in for the fun of it, though their hyung's choice of flavour was indeed superior to all of them. The three rappers seemingly enjoyed all the cat and mouse chase between the four of them. Taehyung seemed too happy with his endeavour, thus eliciting a few remarks,
"You brats! I raise you and this is what you give back!"
Seokjin scolded, pouting his shiny Bratz lips.
A lot more chasing around and mindless chatting about everything under the sun came through. It was rather easy to spend more than 2 hours like this in a sink-in space. Afterall, they were seven curious individuals who found everything interesting like they were living their first life on Earth. With a wrap up by 5, they got back in the car to go to their destination. Yoongi has already booked a seaside house for this trip, so they could spend the night by the rumbling waves.
"Let's goo!"
Jungkook shouted, getting hoots and whistles of similar excitement in response.
Hoseok parked the car at the Haeundae beach by 30 minutes. Suprisingly, the crowd was weak with only a few scattered families and people around. Jimin was the first to get down and strech out his arms. He could feel the saltiness in the breeze that blew through his fluffy hair. Closing his eyes for a few seconds, he let himself free from the bounds of his mind. He felt satisfied and relaxed by this action, making it easier to enjoy the view. The sea looked beautiful in it's hues of blue mixed with orange due to the reflection. The sun was minutes away from going away to be submerged deep under the horizon.
"Looks like an egg yolk."
Seokjin commented thoughtfully. This successfully made Jimin giggle with his face covered by his smaller hands.
Unpacking was easy, since there was only two suitcases. Which was single-handedly carried by Jungkook- though, Namjoon reprimanded him later, for straining his muscles- to the hotel room. Removing his socks and shoes, Jimin ran across the relatively empty beach bare feet. The golden sand tickled his soles, yet it was welcomed. And soon, two picnic blankets were set, with champagne and other snacks. All which were packed earlier, courtesy Taehyung and Jungkook. Jimin, who had ran a little farther, saw how the other's set aside everything for him.
The night sky set in very quickly, enveloping the darkness with bright stars. The sea sparkled like pearls submerged under the deep ends. Jimin ran back with fervor of exhilaration thrumming under his veins. Falling onto Jungkook's outstreched thighs abruptly, Jimin closed his eyes. He hadn't calculated the force with which he would tip forward, and how his forehead could hit the youngest's knee. This evoked a string of concerned thoughts from his boys.
"Minnie, you okay?"
Seokjin asked, with a pained face.
"Did it hurt, hyung?"
Jungkook asked, supporting Jimin's weight.
"OW! It did. But it's fine."
Jimin answered, rubbing the sore spot.
"Oh baby. Come here."
Hoseok pulled Jimin beside him, only that it was easier to fuss over Jimin's hurt.
"Aish, why did you run back? It's not like we are leaving you behind"
Yoongi spoke, shaking his head over the poor choice.
"Wanted to be near you guys."
Jimin pouted with full display of adoration, and Yoongi could only mutter a 'fuck'. The older boy was doomed for ever questioning this angel who was filled with every form of love in his small body. Yoongi regretted even asking for he always Jimin's answer were heartfelt and sincere, and how could he ever challenge that? In retaliation, Yoongi leaned forward to press a forehead kiss for Jimin. Soon, they were all back to their usual chaotic mess.
"Pop the drinks!"
Taehyung shouted with a wide smile on display.
"Woohoo!"
Namjoon cheered on, as Jungkook let the fuzzy bubble of the drink leak out.
With drinks poured in and strawberries eaten, they played a few rounds of truth or dare. A few secrets spilled and funny incidents revisited made it all worthwhile under the moonlight. Taehyung and Yoongi engaging story of how they got their '7' tattoos made Jimin and Hoseok laugh with their whole bodies. This silliness continued to stay in each of the words that came to existence. Jungkook had leaned down to rest his head, while Namjoon sang moonchild on Jimin's request.
"You look funny."
Hoseok commented, a few minutes later. And that was all the sign needed for Seokjin and Yoongi to start packing in to get back.
"Hobi-yah, let's just sleep yeah?"
Yoongi requested the drunk younger, who simply complied to it with an "Okie."
"Jimin-ah! Happy birthday. I love you!"
Hoseok slurred half way through, but Jimin was touched by his words either way. Therefore, he got up from his place to place a kiss on Hoseok's lips. Everyone continued with a 'Happy birthday' and a tiny peck on the lips. It was evident that Seokjin and Jungkook were the most tired with all the driving. Namjoon cleaned up most of it except the half empty glass that Jimin clutched in his hands.
"Min, you'll sleep soon?"
Taehyung asked, as he was the only one left beside Jimin. Both of them looked at the never ending sea that swooped relentlessly and crashed against the rocks far away. It was soothing to hear the constant noise.
"Yeah. Soon."
Jimin answered with a content smile. Taehyung leaned in for his share of the kiss. And soon, Jimin was alone staring at it all. Gulping the last drop of champagne, Jimin whispered a small 'Thank you.' to the winds that created such quietness within himself. Letting himself go to enjoy this warmth from everything that occured today would be one of the best decisions he ever made. And at that very second, Jimin finally realised that all the answers to his wishes were right infront of him. In front of him in the form of his beautiful 6 rays of hope.
In that silence, his phone beeped to signify the time to be 11:11. And now all, Jimin wanted was to thank that wish which came true. Thank that wish he had asked when he was twelve. The same wish which translated for him to get his forever people and a happy environment to exist and grow. The same wish that granted him the access to not only be popular, loved by millions, enjoy his passion but also be part of a family that held his strings so delicately.
As he laid upon the puppy pile that had become of his sleepy boys, he was grateful for the 11:11 wish that had bestowed on him such peace and tranquility. And somehow for all the wishes that he had made over the years, it had all paid for this moment, where he could be this smooth with affection. This comfort he had gained knowing he was cherished and loved by the people whom he regarded. This cocoon of everything that he could possibly need had filled every crack. This was his paradise where he felt his soul explode after reaching the highest level of satisfaction. This was Jimin's gateway to heaven.
