"Ugh! What the fuck?"
Jisung heard the cussing as he passed through the corridors of their company's building. And undoubtedly, it was the known voice of his hyung, Changbin.
"Hyung?"
Han's head peeked through the door to see all the pages strewn around. In middle of the entire mes stood a frustrated Changbin. His bangs messy, his lips dry and his eyes droopy.
"Oh! Han. Why are you here?"
Changbin flicked his eyes to look at the younger. Han was looking especially soft with the muffler around his neck to keep himself warm.
"I heard you yelling so I came here."
Han asked with worry laced in each of his words.
"It's none of your business, so just leave!"
Changbin spoke still looking through the pile of papers. It looked like he had lost something. But the shorter male was too frustrated to know the change in his tone.
"Hyung, I didn't even tell or do anything. Why are you upset?"
Han asked while pouting. He did understand that something was wrong, and that's why his hyung was annoyed.
Being the good dongsaeng, Han started 'helping' the older to rearrange the things on the floor. All the while, Han heard the rapper sighed heavily, in what could be best described as, pure annoyance.
"You won't understand. I have a lot of work unlike you. Don't pick any of those papers, ugh don't disturb me."
Changbin clicked his tongue all while searching for his paper. The paper where he had written some important song lyrics.
"What do you mean? I am just existing and you are angry at me."
Han asked with a frown on his pretty features. He hadn't done anything like how the older alleged his actions to be.
"Coz you are just straight up annoying. Always disrupting people's work. A spoilt brat who gets everything done for him. While I'm working my ass off."
Changbin continued talking all while not looking at the boy who stood in shock.
"What's wrong with you? I'm not a spoilt brat."
Han shouted with a quiver in his voice. His eyes had already welled up with tears.
"Of fucking course, you would go cry. Can't even handle a little criticism can you? You are babied too much. Chan hyung has to look out for your stupidity all the time. And all of us have to fit your stupid conceptions of the world. "
Changbin let those horrible words fly out of his mouth. He hadn't intended this way, but it sure seemed like it.
"I hate you."
Han yelled loudly while slamming all the papers he had collected onto the table. He couldn't stand the others presence and hence fled back to the dorm.
Running back, Han wiped the tears furiously, yet they threatened to fall endlessly. He wasn't stupid. Or annoying. He did help with the work and lyrics writing. Chan hyung loved him.
Unlocking the door to his room, Han climbed onto his bed in the same practice clothes. Sobbing quietly so as to not let anyone notice, Han's flushed cheeks glimmered in the dark of the room.
Han was never scolded by his hyung like this. Especially when he did nothing wrong. He had just helped him. Or maybe he was annoying. And with that all those questions that lowered his self worth invaded his senses. But oh boy! How wrong was he? To think that they hate him for his nature.
On the other side was Changbin who had thrashed around the room all while searching for that goddamn paper. His eyes glanced through the room, to find the paper just where Han had slammed them before running away.
That's when he realised all the vile things that he had uttered earlier. Looking through the room he was reminded of his Jisung's red eyes and flared button nose. How he had scared the younger. How he had made him cry by outing him to be stupid.
"Oi!"
Bangchan's voice hit the shorter's ears as the door opened.
"Oh hyung"
Changbin looked at the older who swept his eyes through the place.
"What's all this? And what's wrong?"
Chan asked while treading carefully as to not hurt himself from all the things on the floor.
"I kinda messed up."
The grey haired male stuttered with guilt and nervous demeanour.
Chan knew that look on the younger's face. The first time he had seen it was when the grey haired boy had broken his arm due to being clumsy. It was all because he had overworked himself in the gym for the big big biceps. The leader hoped it wasn't something harmful.
"Changbin, what did you do?"
Chan asked with a strict demeanour.
"I...I didn't mean to, but I might have yelled at Jisung."
Changbin stuttered out feeling immensely guilty for calling yeh younger stupid.
Chan was a little confused as the both did bicker a lot. And it wasn't uncommon for the youngest of the team 3racha to be mad. But seeing the shorter's expression he knew it went deeper than just the common ol' playfulness.
"What did you tell him?"
Chan asked with stern eyes.
"I was frustrated while searching this paper. And I just called him stupid."
Changbin felt scared under teg intense gaze of the older.
Chan didn't know what to do. Han was the maknae in their team. But that didn't mean he didn't do any work. Actually speaking he did lot more than what was expected of him. Excelling in those high notes for ad libs of their music as well in the low registers for rap songs, dancing with the most fluid movements, and most importantly, being the reason for everyone's joy and cheer.
Chan was scared. Given that Han was a people pleasee and easily fell prey to his own emotions, Chan was afraid. He knew that the word 'stupid' must have hit the younger where it hurts him the most. He had received back hand hate comments before. It had kick-started off early with his social anxiety when he was still in his late teens. It had gotten to the extent of him being unable to perform without getting an attack.
"Changbin, that was just...fuck! Before I know the details of this fight, I want to make sure hannie is okay, so excuse me!"
Chan clenched his jaw not wanting to say something unexpected out of spite and anger.
"Hyung wait! I wanna come as well"
Changbin uttered making himself smaller in front of the older.
Chan saw the puppy eyes of the fierce rapper. The same person who killed it on stage was in front of him, looking like a lost kid in a fair. And so he had to agree. Forced to agree as he was weak for those eyes.
With a forced silence both of them got into the car and back to the door. The dorm was quiet, except for Felix's and Jeongin's quiet rumblings as they played some video game. Seungmin and Minho had gone to the park for a day out. While Hyunjin had gone for a recording as per request of their fans.
Han's room was locked with a don't disturb sign on the door in red. But it was an unspoken rule of the dorm that the leader gets a pass to come in if there's an important situation.
And Han being sad was a good reason for the oldest to flex his powers.
Chan unlocked the door slowly telling the shorter rapper to stay out until he pacified the younger. The room still in colours due to the neon lights of purple, pink and blue. Yet it held the melancholic aura as the resident of the room was still sad.
"...go 'way..."
The boy's faint voice was heard, and Chan couldn't help but rush to his side on the bed.
"Jisung? Baby!"
Chan called out as the younger swiftly turned to his side, hiding his face.
"I told you to go away."
Han sniffled loudly. It took no genius to tell he was crying. It was clear from that groggy voice.
"Turn around, Han Jisung."
Chan ordered as he sat in a more comfortable way on the bed. Within seconds a face with tear stains peeked from under the covers. The youngest had his bread cheeks turning red with all the intense crying.
"Aww bubba! Don't cry."
Chan came forward to wipe those tears from Jisung's beaded eyes.
"I-it hurt...s hyung."
Han stuttered as the tears pooled without a care in the world.
"I know baby."
Chan pulled the boy into his lap, as the youngest hugged him tightly.
"H-he called m-me s-s-stupid. Am I?"
Han asked innocently while staring at the older's eyes.
"No. Never, you aren't stupid. You are my precious little baby. My hardworking boy. Everyone's love. He didn't mean it. He was just stressed. Will you forgive him? You know he loves you a lot as well, right?"
Chan tried coaxing the boy in his lap, whose face laid on his shoulder. He knew it would be difficult to patch them up given that Han was pretty much broken on hearing the older's words. But they were the dream team, 3racha, nothing they couldn't solve right?
And Chan wants nothing more than to bring peace between them. He didn't want misunderstandings to break their carefully built relationships. Han nodded slowly. It seemed like the boy had calmed down from the rush of his emotions. But it still pricked him to think that the person he regarded most, made him believe he was stupid.
"Can I call him in then, hannie?"
Bang chan asked with a soft voice. Han loved the comfort that the leader's words and voice brought him.
Instantly, the older boy took his phone out to message the shorter rapper who stood waiting outside the room, like an obedient kid.
Leader-nim🐺: Changbin! Come in.
Dwaekki🐷: Hyung, is he okay?
Leader-nim🐺: Yeah he's better!
Dwaekki🐷: Promise he won't lash out on me?
Leader-nim🐺: yeppie. Don't worry.
Keeping his phone aside, Chan kept on rocking the younger who was cuddling against his body while sitting on his lap. It was equivalent to how babies are made to sleep.
Soon the quiet opening and closing of the door echoed in the neon-lit room. The atmosphere of the place shifted again as the boy in Chan's arms stiffened.
"Hannie, I'm sorry. I didn't mean it. I just... I was stressed because of that stu- paper with lyrics. I had to submit to the main music director for verification today. And I was too forgetful to save it on my laptop. I am so so sorry. You aren't those things I blacked you out to be. You are a charming intelligent individual. I'm sorry I hurt you, bub. You aren't annoying, you inspire me to write better, to perform better. I don't want you to hate me please. I'm sorry, I love you."
Changbin let out his carefully composed apology speech, as Han laid his heavy head on Chan's rocking shoulders. He hadn't yet met eyes with the other rapper.
But Jisung being Jisung, meaning he would forgive people easily dud just that. And especially if they were his group members, whom he had spent more than 5+ years. Han hugged the leader tighter greedy for the feeling of warmth.
"It's...okay!"
Han sleepily muttered glancing at Changbin who shuffled at his spot. But the other boy had caught those red irritated eyes.
Chan simply hummed in delight as the problem was resolved. It felt better as Changbin too sat on the bed. Before the youngest could bring his fisted eyes to rub his doe eyes, the grey haired boy stopped him.
"Don't do that, I'll get you some ice."
Changbin uttered all ready to move to the refrigerator in the dining area. Chan pulled the boys head to inspect the blond's burning eyes.
"It's fine hyung. I just want to sleep."
Han smiled for the first time this evening. Seeing the older's caring side made Han's heart run in circles.
"Kay bubba."
Changbin uttered fondly as his hands found their way to hold the younger's puffed up cheeks.
Chan didn't want to ruin this perfect reconciliation between the two. He was happy seeing them like this. Seeing them happy. It was just the way he was built. To seek happiness in others' happiness. And he surely didn't feel like he was the odd one here.
They slept huddled together with Han in the middle. All for being the baby of their group. Under the neon lights of Han's room, all the three glowed like diamonds up in the sky.
Even with the small conflicts, they always managed to get back together with renewed love, adoration and hope. This is what healthy relationship looked like. Being the gem of everyone's dreams in someone's eyes was a miracle. And they managed to achieve just that. They truly were the diamonds in the sky that lighted up the world.
Not our absolute best, but first fic for skz!
