6. The Weird Scholar.

 ༻ ♡ ♡ ♡ ༺

A millennia ago, there existed a flourishing civilization, filled with the joys of people from the moment sun took up in east and set down in the west.

From the fruitsellers to the people, it was such a happy and musical civilization. Nobody held grudges with anybody.

The civilization was ruled by a queen. She was no ordinary queen who ruled just some lands but rather she was the queen who touched every single's citizen's hearts.

From children to elders, everybody cherished and absolutely loved her. Even men and rulers from other lands tried to swoon her but she never fell for any. She put her people and duty before anything.

Until...

Y/n open her eyes flutter as she was slightly sweating. She and Alhaitham has been inside the cave for about a few hours now. They sat opposite to each other with a fire camp burning in the middle to keep them self warm.

Alhaitham held a book which he was keenly reading. You took a look around of the surrounding and noticed a blanket over you.

"You were shivering from cold. I put the blanket over you in hopes that you'd not catch a fever way before the mission actually begins."

A slight heat rose to your cheeks when you actually got to hear that from him. It wasn't your blanket too....it was his blanket that had the same scent has him.

"Oh thank you..." You said as you rose up and folded the blanket, giving it back to him to avoid unwanted thoughts. He was your colleague and you were assigned to complete a task along with him. He is also your rival so you wanted to avoid any unwanted thoughts.

"I don't think we can really reach the place on time. It has been raining for hours now..." Alhaitham said as he kept reading his book after he placed his blanket back into his baggage.

"What if we decided to walk through the rain, wouldn't that help us reaching the sit sooner?" You asked as you sat down, bringing your legs close to you.

"...That would be something I'd do if I were alone on this mission....I take that you don't travel much often do you?"

"I don't...it's just Port Ormos and Sumeru City constantly, the normal route without going through any disastrous routes."

Flipping through a page of his book, he glanced at you and said; "You are prone to get sick then. You just don't travel much and as expected you'd be having a weaker immunity if you were to face any illness caused by bacteria in the forest."

You nodded and stared outside, where it was still raining. Drop by drop, pearls of water kept hitting the ground making a soothing sound. The smell of fresh soil and plants lingered in the air due to how it kept raining.

You kept staring at it endlessly that it made you question, What was that dream all about.

Why did you see a happy civilization turn into a devastating mess of destruction? Why did the light fade away in the darkness and most importantly....why was a woman whom the people lovingly called, their queen there..? Why could you see her face..?

Why was all of this coming in your dreams?

Particularly, why are you able to dream?

Alhaitham was noticing your worried body language. He put his book down and asked, "You seem troubled. I don't recall you being a worrywart or is it because you're afraid of being chased by Rishboland Tigers?" He tried to alleviate the mood of the atmosphere.

"Huh....what makes you think that, I'm worried?"

"You needn't hold yourself in due to your pride Y/n. From what I've been noticing for the past few hours, you were having a nightmare. A form of dreams that people of Sumeru are usually not capable to seeing but you are."

"... I know it's perhaps....awkward to say that a person like me, especially who works at Akademiya is able to see such things...wouldn't it really mean that my knowledge is still no different from a child's understanding of the world." You said as you fixed your gaze on Alhaitham, who was no less different as his eyes were also, fixated on you.

"To see dreams necessarily doesn't mean that you lack the knowledge or wisdom. I firmly believe you are one of those lucky scholars who are known throughout for your accomplishments and is still able to see dreams."

"What's with you being so kind towards me today...? If I recall, you've always found a way or two to criticize my theory."

Alhaitham looked away. "Being critical towards someone doesn't necessarily mean I'm against them...."

You took a notice how he was caught off guard with your question. The tip of his ear was tinted red which allowed you to leave a low chuckle.

"Well then truly tell me Alhaitham, What does my wisdom or knowledge really seem to you and I want you to be frank with me about this. Just like a Scholar to Scholar."

"I'm a scribe." He muttered.

"Well you are no less from being a scholar so answer me."

Alhaitham sat there processing for a while whereas I kept staring at him keenly, pressuring him to answer soon.

"You are more like the odd one....In a good way I think."

"You mean I'm weird don't you?...What was I even expecting..." You fake pouted.

"Being weird or odd really gives a twist to the environment. I wouldn't deny that I'm a weird fellow myself and personally I think that's something that makes me happy working at Akademiya. To be the odd one in the bunch of stoic old people." Alhaitham said as he drank some water.

"The way you keep yourself motivated...that's an interesting way." you held your chin as you thought of something.

"Well not in the next fifty years did I ever think I'd find someone who'd be weird and odd at the same time. In order to test if you were similar to those stoic old sages, I questioned and criticized you every time but my guess was completely wrong and I do apologize for my behavior. I do wish to be on better terms with you."

"That...That is a bit strange coming from you but when you put it all like that...I only hear genuineness so I'll accept whatever you have to say then..." You sighed.

Suddenly you were having a sharp headache and ringing sounds in your head.

"If-....If you may excuse me...I need to nap for a while..." You said as you held your forehead and laid down to rest.
