16. Linked Questions.

 ༻ ♡ ♡ ♡ ༺

"How sure are you that he'll wake up again?" Kaveh asked as he stared at Alhaitham who was unconscious ever since yesterday.

You sat by your desk, writing a letter to the Akademiya requesting to extend your mission by ten weeks which was earlier opposed by Alhaitham and report the matters of the recent, although you chose not to mention about Alhaitham's injury.

Not because you didn't worry about his injury but rather knew that higher officials would instantly call off the mission, which would drastically effect Alhaitham and your performance. It would be best to also hear his thoughts on the matter too.

Leaving a heavy sigh, you dip the quill into ink as you decided respond to Kaveh's question. "He will wake up but not just now. That's what I hope." you momentarily glance at your glowing hydro vision that was beside you.

"Right. I was hoping to face his annoying demeanor before I leave for the deserts tomorrow." Kaveh said as he sat back in a chair.

You turn around and look at him in surprise, "You're leaving already?"

He nodded his head, "The desert project starts soon. I need to reach before work starts."

Right, why were you even expecting him to stay back. Even he was a scholar like you who had work to turn in on time.

"I see then...tomorrow morning?" You ask back as you turn around to finish the letter off. He replied in affirmative and there followed a long silence in the room.

All that could be heard in the room was the sound of your pen as you kept writing neatly in the letter.

So far you were writing the letter with no mistakes as you were quite used to writing them but for a fraction of a second your mind distracted. You suddenly remembered the words mentioned by the weird creature yesterday.

"Still it's him......you keep doing the same mistake over and over, each and every single time!"

Upon remembering this, you accidentally break your quill. The black ink splattered all over the letter and your hands which left you annoyed.

"Looks like you too have the same temper..." Kaveh mumbled out silently as he saw you walk towards the bathroom in rage to wash your hands.

You locked the bathroom door as you were irritated by everything. Especially the ink on your hand.

Getting ink on your hand was a normal thing for a scholar who would have to write quite a lot in their Academic years through Akademiya but this wasn't the reason for your irritation.

The black ink over your hand kept reminding you of the incident few days ago and yesterday's incident. The very same black snake that you saw with red venomous eyes and the black human like creature that nearly killed Alhaitham.

Why did everything seem so linked to you?

Every single detail so far is linked. From how the elemental creature targeted you first then Alhaitham. But what didn't make any sense to you was how the creature only hurt Alhaitham and not you?

Alhaitham was no ordinary man even with his blade. Every single movement he does is analyzed and calculated unlike yours. So why were you able to purge that creature away with one strike while Alhaitham could have— should  have been able to take it down easily too.

Something was really, really , off. After all you have no idea what had happened prior to arrival.

What was Alhaitham up to? Why was he out alone? What did he wish to know? How did he end up there?

All these questions kept igniting your curiosity to know more. To conclude with the matter, you only thought of one approach— To investigate the same spot where you found Alhaitham.

You unlock the door open and walk towards your desk, grabbing the vision and your coat. Kaveh was surprised at your sudden change of demeanor but he chose not to question it as he continued to sketch out his designs.

You quickly walk out towards the very same spot, hoping that the incoming rains won't wash away any sort of hints you could use.

Heart beating faster and your breathing getting heavier each moment, you paid no heed to your surrounding. Your mind was only focused on one thing, that was to find answers to your questions.

Upon finding the point of entry towards the grove where you found Alhaitham, you stood there panting heavily. You mustered all the courage you had because living with questions that have no answers is torturous.

You walk in to notice the forest was still eerie. It was dark and the canopy formed by the trees still only let through little light. The were water puddles here and there. It hasn't changed.

You look around in all the directions to make sure no one was there to interrupt you. Using your memory, you walk towards the very same direction, the very same tree.

Upon finding the very same tree where you found Alhaitham, you were more surprised to notice something else there.

You blinked twice to confirm if you were hallucinating or not but you weren't. It was the very same tree as you noticed dried blood over it. Over the place Alhaitham had sat earlier, a book was seen.

A book. How peculiar and random. Especially at such a site.

As you walk closer cautiously towards the book, you feel a sense of familiarity. Dark brown hardcover, embed with gold lining on the edges. Titled, "The Lost History."

"This book...." You muttered as you remembered reading this through your academic years. You held it in your hands as it was surely someone's doing.

A/n : Omg 35K reads real :D ANYWAYS GOOD LUCK WITH ALHAITHAM BANNER GUYS!! Alhaitham wanters will be Alhaitham Havers <3

Oh also I realize how I predicted that Alhaitham would be parentless + would be raised by an elderly lady WHICH IS SO TRUE. (His story suggests his parents died in an accident and he was later raised by his grandmother.)

And I've also heard that his dad was in Haravatat Darshan while mom was in Vahumana Darshan, look at their son, Alhaitham walking in the same path as them (in reference to Y/n being in Vahumana as well) 🥺🥺
