Aretia was beautiful, a beauty rarely seen in their world. Like something of a painting. Its deep hills, and flowery plains were her favorite. When Blair had first found out she was pregnant, Aodham was insistent on remaining in Aretia come the end of her pregnancy, where she couldn't safely fly on her dragon's back. So come time, Aodham and Blair set off to Aretia to wait out her pregnancy at Fen Riorson's mansion. Due to humans not being able to enter the Vale, there would be no safe option to deliver the baby in her womb.

Fen Riorson, being a very good friend of both Aodham and Blair's, had quickly agreed to let both parents stay for as long as needed.

Living in Aretia, though as beautiful as it was, made both parents miss their home. Homesickness settled quickly into Blair's heart, the only temporary cure being Fen's young son, Xaden. The kid, despite being young, was very mature for his age of four. Xaden, when not going about his heir duties, would accompany Blair on her afternoon walks of the garden and even sit with her when he could.

Xaden was eager to meet the little girl in her womb, and Blair knew deep in her soul that her baby and Xaden would get along great.

"A mother's instinct," Fen had said one day when Blair jokingly had said that she felt that Xaden and the little baby in her belly would be fast friends. "Is often far superior to any other."

It was eight months into her pregnancy when her suspicions were confirmed. Xaden, always the kind little lad he was, had accompanied her on her walk of the garden and had settled beside her when they returned back to the Riorson house.

Xaden had been talking loudly about what he had learned recently, and Blair had suddenly doubled over when the baby had begun to kick for the first time. Xaden, worried, quickly stood and rushed to her side only to hear soft giggles from Blair.

Blair was quick to reassure him that everything was alright, ruffling his black hair when he still continued to fuss over her. Gods, did she wish her little one would turn out just as sweet as Xaden.

"The baby just kicked, is all. I'm fine, truly."

Curious, Xaden asked if he could feel and when Blair nodded he reached out and placed a hand on her stomach. Only to flinch, retreat, and laugh when an immediate kick was felt against his palm.

------

Blair, in all her twenty-three years, had never been in labour, having feared it as a child. But here she was, laying in a birthing bed that Fen's wife had set up for her. A midwife sat at her feet, helping her through her labouring. Aodham was elsewhere, having been urged outside by his dragon - who had insisted that it was extremely important.

Blair knew if she were to walk out the door, the ever sweet Xaden would be waiting for her. The thought alone made a pained smile appear on her face. He was so ready, so eager to meet the little Fyr descendant in her womb.

And so was Blair. But first, she had to give birth to the little babe. The midwife between her legs finally gave the command, having checked her the progress of her labouring. "Push!"

Blair did as told, reluctantly, because truly... She didn't want to give birth without her husband, but if the baby was coming there was nothing she could do than hope that Aodham would be back soon.

After a minute of pushing, the midwife told her to stop. Blair collapsed against the pillow, a pained whine leaving her lips. Gods, she wished her husband would be back soon.

"He's on his way." Uisge, her blue daggertail spoke. Blair gave a grateful sigh, relieved. That relief didn't last long when a painful bout of contractions struck her uterus, the organ clenching painfully. The midwife once again urged her to push, to which the labouring mother dutifully listened. Just as she fell back against the pillows once again, the door swung open revealing her husband. A short glimpse of onyx eyes was seen briefly before the door was shut.

Aodham rushed to his labouring wife, blue eyes meeting Blair's beautiful green as he laid a kiss atop her crown. Whisperings of Tyrrish filled her ears, an apology. Blair grasped his hand tightly, everything long having been forgiven as she gave another push.

The wind lashed outside, Blair cringing at the loud sound of it beating against the windows. The garden, one of her favorite places, would for sure be uprooted by the wind. Trembling, Blair bit harshly down on her tongue until a sharp, copper taste hit her taste buds. With a cry, and what sounded like a thousand dragon roars outside, Blair fell against the pillows behind her when relief struck her core.

A loud cry filled the air, catching both mother and father's attention as the midwife stood up from between Blair's thighs and held up a bloody baby. A girl. A baby girl.

The midwife quickly cleaned her off and handed her to the mother. Blair, suddenly emotional, gave a tearful laugh as she cradled her daughter to her chest. The very same daughter who had kicked for the first time at the sound of little Xaden's voice, who she had spent twenty hours in labour for.

Her little girl.

Blair looked up at her husband, who smiled brightly and brushed a thumb across her cheek, ridding it of the tears that had fallen. "Danielle, her name is Danielle." Blair breathed.

Aodham smiled fondly down at his two girls, nodding. "Little Danielle Fyr, our daughter."

A knock at the door startled the couple, Blair telling the person at the door to come in, she knew it was Xaden. The door opened slightly, black hair poking in the doorway. Xaden gave a tentative smile, "Can I come in?"

Blair smiled fondly at the little boy, her four-year-old companion. She nodded. Xaden immediately rushed past the door and settled beside her, staring fondly at the little bundle in her arms. "What's her name?"

"Danielle. Danielle Fyr."
