"He is just so annoying!" My best friend Nico exclaimed.
We were walking towards our lockers after the endless hours of torture.
"Sounds to me someone has a crush"
"I do NOT like Will."
"Sure."
He sighed. "I wish there were someone you liked so i get to tease you too." I laughed.
"You need a ride?" He asked me.
"Nah, I have detention. I gotta go now, actually."
He shook his head, "You need to stop getting in fights, Annabeth."
"Is it so bad i was defending my best friend?" I put an arm around his shoulders.
"No but...he was telling the truth. I am gay." He said.
"Yeah, but he didn't have to make it sound bad."
"I guess...I just don't want you to get into too much trouble, Beth. "
"Relax, dude. It's nothing new. Anyways, I gotta go now. See you tomorrow, Neeks."
"Text me when you get home. See ya."
I chuckled at bis protectiveness and headed towards the detention room. I hated detention. It was boring and a waste of time. It's not like kids were gonna start being obedient.
Anyway.
I went to sit at my usual seat at the corner of the room when I saw him.
Percy Jackson.
The new kid that seemed to have gotten the attention of every girl and even some boys. Not mine, though.
He looked up from his phone and caught me staring at him, and I quickly turned my head away and sat in front of him.
I took out my book, The book thief, and started to feel the reality fade away, when:
"Hey."
I turned around and saw Percy smiling at me.
"Um, hey."
"I'm Percy."
"I know. I'm Annabeth."
He looked confused, but he was still smiling. "So...why are you in detention?"
"Oh, I got in a fight. It's always cause of fights." I shook my head.
He looked shocked, "Really? Wow."
"Why do you look so shocked?" I asked him.
"It's nothing, it's just...no offence, but you look a little nerdy and...there's nothing wrong with it but...uh.."
W h a t
"You're saying nerds can't fight?" I glared at him.
"N-no no I-I just um- sorry." He stuttered.
"Lookie here, mister. Don't make me use this book as a weapon cause I don't want to ruin this. I mean, look at the cover!"
"Alright, alright. I am really sorry."
I sighed and turned back to my book.
"So um...do you wanna play 21 questions?"
I looked at him, "Are you bored or something?"
"I mean, yeah. Do you have a thing to do at detentions or something?"
"Fine, I'm down. But you have to go first." I said.
"Okay!" He smiled, showing off his cute dimples. Wait what. "So what's your favorite....color?"
I rolled my eyes, "Seriously?"
"I don't know what to ask." He held up his hands.
I chuckled and said, "Purple. Do you have any siblings?"
He grinned again, and his eyes sparkled which made him look extra cu-

"Yes, actually. I've got a little sister and she's the cutest baby to ever exist. She's smart for her age too, which she probably got from my mom..." He smiled.
It was cute gow much he loved his family. You don't meet boys like this all the time.
"The sound wonderful." I smiled at him.
He smiled back, "They are. Anyways, my turn. Do you have a best friend and if so, who is it?"
"I do, it's Nico."
"Nico? Nico Di Angelo?"
I looked at him, confused. "Yeah, why?"
"My friend Will talks about him a lot. He likes him a lot too." He said.
"Wait, Will's your friend?"
"My only friend."
"Gosh, Nico talks about him. All. The. Time." I grinned.
He rubbed his hands and said, "You wanna set em up?" He grinned mischievously.
"Definitely."
And we launched into a plan to make Solangelo happen.
I honestly had a good time. I liked this guy. He was funny, kind, a sarcastic little shit, and smart too. I never thought I'd have friends here except Nico, and while I didn't mind having little to no friends, it was nice to talk to new people, especially people like Percy.
"Hey, it's my turn for the questions right?" We had abandoned the game as soon as Will and Nico was brought up.
"Yup." He said.
"Cool. What's your number?"
He smirked at me, "And why would you want my number, Miss Chase?"
"It's just for the solangelo plan, Jackson. Don't get ideas." It wasn't the only reason, but he didn't need to know that.
He laughed and gave saved his number on my phone, and I did mine with his.
The bell rang and we quickly got out of the school and walked to our respective cars.
My phone buzzed and I looked at it to see a message from 'Hot guy at detention'.
I looked up and saw Percy already in the car, smirking at me.

I blushed and glared at him. He just laughed at my flustered face. The audacity.

I smiled and started my car. All the way back home, I couldn't stop thinking about a certain green eyed boy.
Maybe detentions weren't so bad after all.
