[ makeover ]

You were all at Cher's house for the makeover, seeing as you were staying over for a couple of days, and she just had a new stock of clothes. She whipped her hair back, and you and Cher laughed, whilst Dionne cursed, "Shit!", after getting drenched with water. You all wrapped her hair in towels, drying it off.

Dionne was applying makeup as you and the blonde girl grabbed a silver collared shirt. You slipped it over her head, and you shook your head in thought, before running over and grabbing a pair of scissors. Whilst Tai protested, you cut the shirt shorter, making it cropped. But you ended up picking a cute maroon velvet skirt and long blue shirt. You grinned at her joy upon seeing herself in the mirror.

After Dionne had left, you, Cher and Tai went to the living room, doing a quick workout. "Now squeeze your buttocks when you come up," Cindy guided on the tape.

"Squeeze in," you advised.

"Y/N, I don't want to do this anymore. And my buns, they don't feel nothing like steel," Tai whined.

"Okay," you sighed. "It will get easier. I promise. Just as long as we do it every day, not just sporadically."

"How do you know if we're doing it sporadically?"

"That's another thing Tai. We've got to work on your accent and vocabulary," Cher said after turning the TV off.

You were oblivious to Dean walking by, sipping on a milk carton. "See, sporadic means once in a while," you told. "Try and use it in a sentence today."

"Alright."

"Okay, from now on, we're alternating Cindy Crawford's Aerobicize and Buns of Steel, and reading once non-school book a week. My first book is Fit or Fat."

"Mine is Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus," Tai said.

"And mine is Smart Exercise," Cher proudly stated.

"Good. That takes care of our minds and bodies, but we should do something good for mankind or the planet for a couple of hours," you nodded to myself.

"Hey, smart-mouths," Dean greeted, heaving himself off the wall.

Tai looked up with wide eyed, and you groaned, "Ugh. The disgusting rat."

"Tai, this is Dean, my brother," Cher introduced.

"Nice to meet you."

"Hey, Josh knows about this stuff." She stood up, and you followed her, hungry for a snack.

You went into the kitchen, following behind the two, who were already arguing. You looked through the fridge, grabbing a box of carrot sticks. "I'm amazed," Dean said, and you turned, chomping on the orange vegetable.

"What? That I'm devoting myself so generously to someone else?" you wondered.

"No. That you found someone more clueless than you are to worship you," he answered.

"I am rescuing her from teenage Hell," you defended yourself. "Do you know the wounds of adolescence can take years to heal?"

"Yeah, and you've never had a mother, so you're acting out on that poor girl like she is your Barbie doll."

You rolled your eyes, scoffing, "The senior psych rears its ugly head."

"Hey, I am not taking psych."

"Whatever. I am going to take that lost soul in there and make her well-dressed and popular. Her life will be better because of me. How many girls can say that about you?" You shoved him on the way out, and he chased after you with a huff. You both skidded to a stop upon seeing and hearing Tai on the couch, singing to the Mentos commercial.

"Mentos better, Mentos fresher, fresh goes better with Mentos, fresh and full of life! Mentos. The fresh-maker."

"I'll see ya around," Dean said to the girl through a mouthful of food.

"Yeah. I hope not sporadically." You nodded your head, proud and Dean looked down at you. I flicked his nose, and he grumbled, walking off as you smirked.

The next day, you and the girls entered school, accompanied by your usual gawking looks. But you were ecstatic to find allot of them on Tai. You were wearing a brown collared button-up dress, with brown platform loafers and my Chanel earrings.

"Oh, my God. Do you see how boys are responding?" you asked cheerfully.

"My heart is totally bursting," Cher squealed.

"I know! I'm combelling!" Dionne agreed.

"Y/N, you have Deamer, right?"

You looked up, finding Travis. "Geist," you answered, walking to the other side of Tai.

"Hey, Tai, did you get a flyer?" he asked.

"Uh-uh. Thanks." You continued walking as she looked down at the piece of paper. "Wow! A party!"

"Ugh, it's in the Valley. The cops usually break them up in less than an hour, and it takes that long to get there," you sighed.

"And besides, it's just local loadies," Dionne added.

"Do you guys think that Travis is gonna be there?"

"Tai, I thought we moved on from this," Cher scolded.

"Don't sell yourself short now. You've got something going for you that no one in this school has," you encouraged.

"Oh, I'm not a virgin," Tai chuckled.

"I mean mystery. As far as everyone's concerned, you're the most popular girl in your school. And the fact that you hang with Cher, D, and I, well..."

"That speaks very highly of you," Dionne finished.

"If you strike will the iron is hot, you can have any guy that you want," Cher said.

"Like who?" Tai asked.

"Let's see, who's available?" you thought out-loud, biting your lip. "There's Bronson, Brand...- I got it! Elton! He just broke up with Folette!"

"Oh, yes!" Dionne remembered.

"He's perfect for you, Tai," Cher smiled.

"Who's Elton?"

"Oh my God, he's way popular, he's like the social director of the crew," Dionne informed.

"His Dad can get you into any concert, and I noticed him scoping you out," you smirked.

"He was looking at me?"

"Says you gave him a toothache."

"How'd I do that?"

"It's an expression," Cher exasperated.

"It means he thought you were sweet," you clarified

"Yeah? Wow!"

She walked forward with a dreamy look, and Dionne leaned over to you, whispering, "Is that true?"

"No," you chuckled.

"Oh, you are so bad!"

You were sitting beside Summer, and your cheeks were pressed against each other as you giggled and grinned. You didn't notice Elton, who was watching you with a smirk, before smiling at the camera.

Cher was the photographer for today. "Okay, you guys, all get together. Oh, that is great. Smile!"
She glanced over, and you followed her gaze, leaning forward, past Elton, whose lustful stare was directed at your head. "Tai, get a little closer."

"Tai, come on," you urged, sending a subtle gesture to Elton, and she nodded, gripping your hand as you pulled her closer. You went back to your original spot, narrowly avoiding one of Amber's pigtails.

"Closer, Tai. Oh, great. Hey, Elton, um, why don't you put your arm around Tai?"

He looked back at her, before rolling his eyes and smiling. "Alright!"

"Yeah, that's good. Okay." You sent a wide smile to Tai, and she beamed right back. "Hey, Tai, come here."

Tai stood up and beckoned you forward. You laughed, getting up and taking her outstretched hand with Elton quickly following. You plucked a flower from the bush, placing it in her hands. "Hold that," you instructed.

"Okay."

You watched from Cher's shoulder as she took stunning photos of Tai.  "Cool picture," Elton complimented.

"Doesn't she look classic?" you questioned.

"Yeah. She's beautiful."

"She's like one of those Botticelli chicks," Cher remarked.

"Hey, why don't you make me a copy of this, okay?"

Cher smiled. "Sure!" She sent a squeal to Tai once he was gone.

Later that night, you were seated beside Cher and Tai was at the head of the table. Mel had just walked in, and Cher was quick to introduce, "Hi, daddy. This is our friend Tai."

"Get out of my chair!" he snapped.

She scrambled out, sitting on the other one and you grimaced, sending her a pained smile. "Thank you, Lucy. It looks great."

"What is this crap?"

"Daddy, it's from the Cut Your Cholesterol Cookbook. Dr. Lovett says you've got to get down to 200."

You and Cher's pagers went off, and you both raised them to your ears. "No calls tonight," Mel stopped.

"But it's Dionne. It might be important."

"Sorry. We're gonna have a nice family dinner. So, uh, what did you do in school today?"

"Well... I broke in my purple clogs."

"That's great!" you gushed, and Tai smiled applaudingly.

Mel's phone rang, and he completely disregarded his earlier statement as he picked it up. "Yeah, hello? Hey, Jake, yeah, yeah, no, no. What up?"

Your phone too rang, and you smirked at the girls as you picked it up. "D? What's up?"

"So, check it. Murray's geometry class is right by Elton's locker and taped up inside was the picture Cher took of Tai."

"Oh, my God!" you exclaimed.

"What?" Cher and Tai whispered.

"Elton's got a picture of you hanging up in his locker," you informed.

"Oh, no shit!"

"Hello?" Dionne hissed from the line. "Anyway, the whole crew is going to this party in the Valley."

You nodded, although she obviously didn't see. "We'll be there. Bye." You ended the call, looking at the two girls. "Looks like we're going to have to make a cameo at the Val party."

"I TOLD YOU I WANTED IT IN THE MORNING! NO!"
