[ the fight ]
𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐠𝐚𝐰𝐤𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐃𝐢𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐨. His original form was gone, replaced by a long skeleton reaching well over seven feet, his entire body erupting in flames.
As Incubus sent out a stream of metal infused fire, Diablo blocked it with his own inferno. The combustion caused the attacker to reel back, his feet scraping against the marble ground in hopes of stationing himself, but the attempt was futile when Diablo released a series of punches to Incubus' gut.
The pair fought recklessly against one another, delivering an array of attacks, and just as he swiftly kicked down his leg, Rick called out, "Diablo, drive him into the corner!"
The man did as told, his footsteps rumbling against the ground with each step he took. His boney hand melted into Incubus' chest, the metal of his body melting as he roared out, a plume of fire escaping his mouth.
"Get him, mate!" Harkness shouted in encouragement.
"Yeah, do it!" Floyd yelled.
However, hope dwindled as the all-consuming fire that was Diablo's body seemed to dissipate, slowly burning out to reveal the charred bones of his skeletal form.
Incubus stood up with a groan, pushing Diablo down into the ground, now as his human form, although his eyes still burned a bright crimson.
"Diablo, get outta there!" you implored loudly.
"Blow it!" he shouted at Rick.
The look that crossed Flag's face could only be described as unsureness. He glanced at Deadshot, who wore a look of aggravated compliance.
"Blow it," he agreed.
As Rick looked forward, he ordered in a mutter, "Now, GQ. Now."
"No!" Harley frowned.
"Everybody, down!"
His hands were at your waist in a second, vaulting himself and you to the ground as his arms secured around your head in hopes of protecting it.
"Now, you're screwed," Diablo spat.
Suddenly, the explosion rang out, sparks of fire and smoke emitting from the area it blew from. You burrowed deeper in the safeness of Rick's embrace, squeezing your eyes shut as you felt the wave of heat overtake your body.
The Enchantress turned, her green eyes widening as she screamed out, "Brother!" She exhaled sharply, falling to the ground and clutching her chest.
You untangled yourself from Rick's hold, wordlessly walking towards the gaping hole in the ground that was emitting a soft green mist.
You didn't know Diablo well, and often kept your interactions limited, but you knew he was closed off and reserved. For good reason. He was different, an outcast. Weren't you all?
Turning around, you faced the Enchantress who had stood back up. Her gaze was cold and filled with rage as she stared at you and the others.
"You next," Floyd stated, pointing at her.
"My spell is complete," she informed, her voice raspy and deep. "Once you and your armies are gone, my darkness will spread across this world. And it will be mine to rule."
Spinning around, she lifted her hands up with a loud grunt, and you gasped at the sight of the magic beam suddenly splitting into itself, creating a swirling vortex of blue lightning.
The roll of energy had nearly knocked you off your feet, and you blinked rapidly against the rain pelting against your face.
"You got a move here, Flag?" Floyd howled.
"We gotta cut her heart out!" he answered.
Upon hearing his reply, the Enchantress turned, her eyes now glinting a bright red as her body transitioned to her original form; her stringy black hair matting against her back and skin cold grey.
She crouched down, her hands brushing against the ground before she disappeared in a flurry of ash.
Suddenly, the witch was beside Deadshot, shoving him backwards with such force that he rolled to the floor with a yell.
You rushed forward, slashing your axe across her but she moved just in time, swiping her foot below you and causing you to land flat on your ass with a yelp.
Katana seemed to be the only one that was successful out of the group as she slashed her sword across the witch's stomach. She reared back, grasping onto the skin for a moment before disappearing again.
She yelled out in Japanese, holding her fist up and beckoning us to stand, to which we conceded. You looked around for the ancient woman but couldn't find her amongst the smoke and misty rain.
"While we're fighting, that thing's laying waste to the whole damn world!" Rick shouted. "Where is she?"
"I don't know!" Harley grumbled.
You heard the Enchantress' laughter a moment later, and she appeared in her original spot, swaying two long weapons with a smirk, before evaporating.
"Can she cut that out!?" you questioned in annoyance, snapping your neck left and right to try and find her.
"Look out, look out!" Rick suddenly warned, and you spun around, finding the witch leaping towards Deadshot.
He raised his arms, and the elongated knives clashed against the red and white armor. Immediately, yourself and the rest of the group surged towards her, slashing and attacking the smaller woman.
Floyd was flung back, and Harley was nearly decapitated before you were able to distract her. She tilted her head at you with a twitch, and you nodded with a humorless chuckle that escaped you in a breath.
"Yeah, I got some cool weapons too, bitch!" you exclaimed, rushing forward and committing all your strength to a smooth yet powerful strain of your arm.
Her scream was loud, and you looked over at your shoulder, which was now carved off. Her arm hung loosely, but was still intact all the same, however black blood oozed from the spot you had managed to cut.
Harley, grinning and cheering for you, smashed her hammer against the witch's head. It didn't have the desired effect though, as the Enchantress merely turned back around with a glare.
"Uh-oh," the woman apologized, lifting her hands in surrender. "Sorry."
The witch swiftly kicked her in the stomach, and Harley was tossed back, landing on her front with a pained gasp.
The Enchantress looked towards Rick with a gleam in her eyes and was about to bring down her long sword upon his head, before Floyd slid upon his knees in defense, lifting his armored arm.
Katana jumped from the side of a standalone bench, and nearly cut into the witch before she was punched backwards. Harkness reared his arm back, tossing one of his boomerangs at her before she disappeared.
He looked around in fear, of both his weapon and the witch, before the latter materialized in front of him, nearly stabbing him if he hadn't raised his own boomerangs in defense.
A round of bullets echoed as Floyd aimed one of his guns at the woman before she could kill Harkness. However, the ammunition bounced off her back with an almost metallic echo.
Suddenly, her leg was yanked out from beneath her, and you looked over, finding Killer Croc staring down at the witch.
He lifted the Enchantress and threw her towards the magical vortex in the center of the station before she used her powers and teleported safely back to her original platform.
You ran forward and stopped with a huff, pulling out your guns which were filled with your venom-infused bullets.
"Enough!" the Enchantress screamed, swiping her hand forward which suddenly caused all your weapons, as well as the others, to fling themselves out of your hands and at her feet. "Of all who have faced me, you have earned mercy. For the last time, join me, or die."
"... I'm not much of a joiner, but... maybe we should," Harley voiced.
"Hey," Floyd said, catching her attention. "She's trying to take over the world."
"So?" she snapped, taking a step forward and turning around to face you. "What's the world ever done for us, anyway? It hates us."
"Harley!" you shouted with a furrow of your brows when she turned towards the witch.
"Hey, lady? Um... I lost my Puddin'. But you can get him back, right?"
"I can, my dear," she confirmed softly. "Anything you want."
Stepping down from the platform and taking small steps towards Harley, she followed her actions. "You promise?"
"Yes, child. You need only bow and serve beneath my feet."
Harley lowered her hand from shielding her eyes, instead blinking harshly against the rain, her lips pursing.
"I like what you're sellin', lady. There's just one teeny problem... You messed with my friends."
Harley suddenly gripped the katana that had flown out of the counterpartying woman's hand and slashed it across the Enchantress' chest.
Green light poured from the wound, and Harley didn't hesitate to reach inside, yanking the mix of greenery, tar and other substances she couldn't care to name that was known as her heart.
Upon seeing this, Rick leaned over and grasped Floyd's shoulder in urgency. "Her heart's out! We can end this!" He leaned down, reaching into his bag and pulling out a bomb filled with orange and yellow wires. "Hey, Croc!"
K.C looked back at him, growling in question as Flag held up the bomb. Wordlessly, the crocodile gripped it in his claws as Floyd stood up.
"Harley!" he called, causing the woman to glance down at the guns strewn across the floor. Finding her white and black pistol, she leaned down and tossed it towards the hitman, who caught it with ease.
Croc threw the bomb into the air, and it sailed towards the magic array of lightning and material, just as the Enchantress looked up.
Before Floyd could shoot, he suddenly heard-
"Please, Daddy. Don't do it." Looking down, he found his daughter standing in front of him. She was wearing the same white coat she had worn the day he had been arrested. "The only way for us to be together is if you don't pull the trigger. Daddy, I love you. Please, don't do this."
"He's choking," you mumbled, watching as he watched the space before him. To your eyes, there was nothing there, but he sure as hell was seeing something that had standing still.
"Y/N, wait," Rick called when he saw you standing up.
Turning around, you shook your head, sniffing and placing a hand against the camo-clad material of Flag's chest.
"It's just you and me," you mumbled.
The words had his eyes widening, despite the rain clashing against his face, a deep breath escaping his parted lips.
"You and me," he whispered.
Standing up, your eyes locked onto the figure of the witch, who was grinning maliciously at Floyd. The world around you was muffled, time seeming to slow as you forced your legs to move at such a pace, that you were slamming into the Enchantress within a single second.
She grunted upon the impact, flailing backwards as you punched her stomach, glancing over your shoulder to find Deadshot blinking, looking around for a moment before your desperate scream brought him back.
"Goddamn it, shoot!"
The trigger pressed backwards under the weight of his finger as he aimed the gun. The bullet made contact with the bomb just as it entered the swirling vortex-
