Maia Noemia van Amersfoort (born 6 June 2001), nicknamed Killjoy, is a dutch musician, vocalist for Brewing Starlight and songwriter. Amersfoort grew up in Volendam in the Netherlands, with her father Floris van Amersfoort and older brother Pim van Amersfoort.
She first travelled to the UK as an exchange student, where she met John MacTavish and later decided to move to Brighton at the age of 17, where Amersfoort now shares an apartment with band-member John MacTavish.

She first became known in 2016, at the age of 15 for her videos on YouTube, where she displayed her talent for singing and songwriting.
In March 2018, Amersfoort released her first single, 'King'.

Amersfoort is co-founder of the British-Dutch-Scottish band Brewing Starlight, where she is one of the songwriters, the lead vocalist and the rhythm guitarist. In 2021, they released Brewing Starlight, their first EP, which debuted at No. 12 on the UK album charts.

She is known to still release covers on her YouTube channel and stream on Twitch with band-mate John MacTavish

Musical career

Solo Artist

Amersfoort released their first single, "King", in March 2018, which peaked on the UK Singles Chart at number 65. The song also appeared on the Irish Single chart and the UK Indie chart, where it peaked at numbers 100 and 10, respectively.
Amersfoort has also appeared on several artist charts, including Billboard's Emerging Artists Chart and Rolling Stone's Top Breakthrough Chart. Amerfoort's third single "Iris" came out in January 2020.

Brewing Starlight

Amersfoort formed the indie rock band in 2021 with her friend John MacTavish. The band consists of Amersfoort as lead vocalist, co-songwriter, and rhythm guitarist; MacTavish as the bassist, co-songwriter and backing vocalist; Simon Riley as the drummer, and co-songwriter; and Kyle Garrick as the main guitarist, keyboarder and co-songwriter.

On 8 May 2021, Brewing Starlight released their first EP, titled Brewing Starlight. On 20 May 2021, they debuted on Billboards's Emerging Artists chart at number 10.
Their second EP Cowboy In A Storm is about to be released.
